if you want a smoke ring you need to do about 3 or 4 smoke cycles. refill the pellet hopper every 45 minutes or so and hold the woodfire tech button about 3 secs to reignite the pellets if needed.
I was a complete electric grill skeptic but this video (and Costco’s sale) convinced me to try. I made a 7 pound pork shoulder exactly like you did in the video and this is hands down the easiest and most amazing thing I’ve have ever made. The only thing I did different was add additional pellets to keep it under smoke for the first 1.5 hour. This little grill is amazing! Ps. Yes yes yes to scoring and sample the “bark bites” during the cook.
I made this for the family today on my Ninja wood fire grill. It was delicious! I will be picking another recipe from you channel to make this weekend. Please keep doing video recipes for the Ninja wood fire grill!
We will be picking it up here soon with the summer months coming up. Make sure to stick around:) And check out my LIVES on my platforms to see me cook in real time and ask any questions you might have!
I just received my Ninja Wood Pro Fire Grill...can't wait to try it. I'm starting with something simple (hot dogs, hamburgers) but THEN...I'm going to try this recipe you've shown in such an amazing easy to understand video. Thank you so much for this. I am very new to smoking - anything - and have the same beginner's fear as others. I've subscribed to you and can't wait to watch your other videos. OOOwww, smoked & air fried chicken wings. Gotta go get grillin'....and smokin'...
Congratulations on the new grill! Welcome to an easy outdoor grilling experience. The woodfire impresses me, and im sure you'll love almost everything you make on it! With enough time, you too can become an outdoor grilling master:) Thanks for sticking around ♥️
Looking to getting one of these. When I smoke a butt on my stick burner, once the butt reaches 160-ish stall temp, I wrap it until it hit 203* and then let it rest wrapped in a cooler for about an hour before pulling it apart. Practically falls through my fingers. This video made me hungry.
You'd be able to do the exact same thing in this.....but much quicker and almost always holds up on a blind taste test comparing it to more common grills and smokers.
Great channel came here for a review cannot wait for these to be available down under here in Australia! Ps beef ribs would be an amazing video just saying! ;)
How many times did you fill the pellet holder during the cook? Foil boat would have probably helped tender the center and keep it moist in the last hour of the cook.
Thanks for the response, loving your channel ❤ I’m trying this right now and have refilled the pellets a couple of times half way 🤞🏽 excited to explore more of your content
How's the smoke flavor? I got rid of my pellet grill after trying everything I could think of and ask about because of lack of smoke flavor. Hoping this does the trick.
I love making pork carnitas in my slow cooker, but I was wondering if I could put some tacos seasoning as a rub on the outside portion of the butt and then shred it. Maybe look into some kind of juice I could sprits it with that has a Mexican flavor to it.
Yes, you could definitely do that! Also, you could spritz with some water, orange juice, apple juice, apple cider vinegar, or a combination of them in ways!! play around with it:)
After the first smoke...and you air fry etc., in the house. Does it leave a smoke smell from then on? U know after smoking outside then air fry, bake etc., inside your home. Every time u use it does it smell your home up like a smoke smell from then on?
Hi! I have not cooked with this unit indoors. It does say in the instructions outdoor use only. I would assume though that this would leave a lingering, smoke smell (as most grills/smoker do).
You do not have too, however many have chosen too and it is totally fine either way. And I would say it depends on how long your cook is. Check after 2 hours and refill if you have another hour or two.
Thank you! I did not add more pellets, as Ninja says you don't have to. However its not uncommon to refill your pellet box throughout your cook in the Woodfire community!
meat only takes in smoke to a certain surface temperature, after that it is a waste of expensive pellets. research it, i cant remember exact temps! I think rule of thumb is first few hour at that temp
@KennasKitchen I ended up smoking my first Boston butt last week. It came out great, and didn't put out too much grease. Thank you for the walk through, it was very helpful!
Super pumped I found your channel for reviews on this cooker, I really want to get one, just need a little more nudging. What do you have planned next? Also, I don't think you mentioned, but how long do the pellet last? Did you have to refill them for this pork butt? Also, is 250° as low as it can go?
Hi!! I have everything planned on this. I’ve exclusively used this unit the past 2 weeks because the weather has been so nice and clean up is a breeze. Also it pretty much has the option to do whatever I want as long as it’s for a small group. The pellets only last maybe an hour. It says you don’t need to add more, but I am sure you could and make it even smokier. Definitely want to give that a go. And you can go lower! Let me go check how low….one sec
Omg it has a cold smoke function 🤯 it goes to 145 and then gives you a cold smoke option!! Thanks for asking, I don’t think I would have ever found that:)
@@Bearded_Toy_Guy if you don’t have any of those extras, I would think it’s a smart purchase. I’ve got pretty much all of that except the cover. So I plan on just ordering the cover separately to save money!

Not quite as smoky as a traditional stick fire smoker, but definitely a good amount for how little pellets were used! It’s a much smaller unit so the smoke is a lot more condensed i would say!
did you just add only one scoop of pellets to cook the whole time? I was going to try really smoking it the whole time, meaning adding pellets the whole time until done...Hopefully works out.
Great video and recipe! We just got our ninja wood fire grill and are going to do your recipe next weekend. Did you use one full scoop in your smoker or did you more throw out the cook time?
I did a 1.6kg butt today... smoked for 5 hours at 120c and it wasn't enough, it was cooked but wasn't pulled🤷♂️... and also i went through heaps of pellets... filled it 3 times 🤷♂️

The smoker function on this thing sucks. The smoke box only lasts an hour and if you want to add more you have to unplug the machine and plug it back in and put it on smoke so the smoke box heater turns back on again. I should of bought a real pellet grill
If you catch it before it goes out, you don't have to unplug the unit, it will just continue to burn. That being said, this is a very introductory level grill/smoker, that makes it convenient for even the most amateur smoker and griller to get in on the game!

Yes, $400 is a lot compared to other grills that have much larger cooking surfaces. However it is a great unit for people who may live in apartments, or travel often and want a small unit that can do it all. As far as the pellet box, it is small but you can refill it during cooks if you want too. One box full lasts roughly 1 hour.

Good afternoon, I would like to know how many rounds of pellets are added to a roast.
Just one round! Since you aren’t using pellets for heat, you use much less than traditional pellet smokers while still maintain smoky flavors!
thanks for the information@@KennasKitchen

No problem! Hope you like it:)
How many times did you fill the pellet holder during the cook? Foil boat would have probably helped tender the center and keep it moist in the last hour of the cook.

@@KennasKitchen yes ma'am, you need at least 2 hours plus on a pork butt to gather the smoke.

Thanks for all your info and advice. Does underneath the grill get hot? Wondering if I could put it on a glass patio table.
I would think it would be fine on glass as long as its not an extreme temperature difference, but then again im not a glass expert!
If I remember right, glass is made with fire or heat. With that said, I sat mine on a quarter inch piece of plywood just to be safe.
Did you refill pellets during entire cook? Ive heard they only last an hour with a full hopper. Thanks
I did not refill the pellets. I’m sure you could, but if you let them run out before adding more, you’ll have to reignite them!

I believe there was a stall. Not as long as a traditional smoker would hold though.
Does the thermometer come with the grill please?
On this particular model, no. For the XL grill, yes!
Can you place a small cup of water/apple cider in with meat to maintain moisture?
