It's all about fit. If trucking is a good fit, you'll love it, if not, you'll hate it. But same is true about a cubicle job. Find what makes you happy and give it all you have. Simple truth.
I am starting with Heartland express at the end of the month. Tackling my debt , moving stuff in storage to pay off my debt and start saving. You've been a great inspiration. Thank you for staying on point. It must be hard sometimes with the nay sayers. Every field has its share of workers who get what they put into it. I was an emergency veterinary technician for 13years before deciding to switch careers and seek a new challenge that will reap financial reward. In life taking risks are what reaps the greatest rewards.I really hope you continue to do these videos. You are great positive voice that can be hard to hear in this field. Best of luck and keep trucking. God bless.
I DRIVE and BUST MY BALLZ , I started yard jockeying when I was 13 years old . That was 1975 , nuff said ; I could spin a 53 footer backwards around Baltimore beltway , that's what I do ; it's my passion . My pops " union" taught me well . OLD TRUCKERS NEVER DIE , THEY JUST GET A NEW PETERBILT !!!
@The Living Freed Channel 05:13 THANK YOU! I’ve never understood why it’s not a collective comprehension that whatever field you’re in, there WILL be minute (small) or great sacrifices, especially if one has goals they are working too accomplish. I appreciate you making this clear to the group thinkers.
Thank you for always taking the time and sharing these videos. You always have good information and motivation for everyone, and people should really listen to your advice in trucking and investing. Thank you for your videos. And be safe out there.
I was grandfathered into trucking, my dad and grandpa were owner operators and i just fell into it, i started driving in 2008 so i havent been driving that long, but i l9ve this career and i take it very seriously and ive been otr the whole time since i got my cdl in 2008.
You can either work at McDonald's and be depressed or you can work as a trucker. Working in America be ready to work 40+ hrs per week. No matter what job you work you come to a conclusion that capitalism involves working.
Hey Tyler, is your trucking business an LLC, or did you create a corporation? I've heard maybe there are more tax advantages with a corporation (I think this is what Robert Kiosaki says), but I'm curious which one you chose and why? I'm wondering what the pros and cons are. Thanks!
What about McDonalds? I'm guessing you can't make $100,000 a year working at McDonalds. But you CAN in trucking. And you can be home every night in trucking...if you want to be. But like Tyler said in the video, it just depends what a person wants to do.
Not wasting your life but losing having any kind of home life or social life but if you go into it with your eyes open and the correct information you know up front what you’re getting into. Started in march of 1995 and started local driving February of this year. Do your homework and ask the questions you want and need to know before going into it
Ask any extremely successful person if while they were building their business whether they had any kind of home or social life. The same could be said for any career field. I personally know many successful engineers, doctors, lawyers, business owners, investors and ALL of them made tremendous sacrifice to achieve great wealth and success. But now they can do whatever they want to and don’t have to work ever again and at young ages.
I wouldn’t trade in being an O/O for anything! This year has actually been the best year I’ve had the last 6 years and I’m home every weekend, but I switched to End Dump this year. More specialized freight is the way to go … Stay at it Brother !!!
@stevo6891 yeah give it a try bro. One thing that made me accountable is making UA-cam videos so I had to get my cdl lol. I didn’t wanna look back few years later and be like man imma delete them videos
Truck driving is the best thing I ever did. Good and bad days I love what I do. No matter what career it is people will complain and make excuses instead of look at what they are doing wrong. Self awareness is a skill set that one must learn in order to succeed in anything.
It takes mental, financial, and physical discipline. What worked for me is when I found Dave Ramsey and followed the baby steps. Then I started reading and listening to anything that would fortify my mindset when I have bad days. Also one big key for truckers is to take care of your health because you will never feel good if you don’t look good and in bad health.
Been doing this shit for 14 years it’s a black hole u can get stuck in. Old timer told me that years ago didn’t believe him .. boy was he right !! Not worth it
Afternoon Tyler! When I see you I think of 3 things. Vision/discipline/grit! Your story is incredible and inspiring so thank you for sharing it! Others can observe and achieve by your example! Great to hear from you and roll safe out there!
Hey man! Been watching for a bit now, you’re pretty much my torch in the darkness here when it comes to this career. I’ve been through, a few careers.. correctional officer Electrical apprentice Factory production ALL of which made pretty good $$. Where I’m getting at, I’ll be starting school for this career for a CDL-A next week. I really want to be an owner operator at some point. I don’t really know how to start. Obviously get my feet wet to start, make some $$. If you could, make a video about how things will look in the beginning, maybe talk about your day in the life experience and feelings throughout the beginning into where you’re at now? So I have an understanding… I have a horrible habit with getting into my head with where I’m at in life sometimes. IF YOU COULD OBVIOUSLY. Drive safe brother🙏🥂
3rd generation driver here. Iam doing well in the industry. If you have low standards you will achieve a low standard in this industry. You will sacrifice alot of home time regardless if you are local , regional, or otr. You have to make the home time count. You will be tired alot and must force yourself to eat correctly and exercise. The catch here is you must be creative as there are not alot of options out here. A good attitude definitely helps and knowing that the bad days will come to end end and there will be better days again. Get all of your endorsements. Look presentable , buy a cb and a road map not just a GPS. Learn the craft become a master at it and you will be successful. Keep your truck clean and organized remember it's a representation of you and who you are. It can be a company truck or your own either way take pride in it.
3rd generation retired driver here..got out after 27 years because of health reasons When i started driving, truck drivers were "a dime a dozen ", as the old saying goes...could make a living, but couldn't really build a future. Todays drivers make a lot more money, so you can have a very good future, if you have a good plan...anyway driver's make the most of it. There are more opportunities in trucking, than you could use in 10 lifetimes.
I also work at Crete two and a half years now they can't your benefits as pay so that gets you up to whatever dollar amount people say that they made working here. To me that's an odd way of looking at it. It's manipulative
When you get a chance though check out...tax sales certificates... if I remember right my ex wife and me did that and it was less risky and it was rewarding because the people wouldn't want to loose their properties or houses so they would always come up with the money to fix their back paying on their homes and the certificates would pay you back at a decent rate with decent interest. Because you paid their back debt for them and they had to pay you and the bank. I'm talking probably 20 years ago but I'm sure it still the same. If they didn't pay then you have rights toward forclosing or the bank was first and you were second for payment. I forgot alot of how it went though.
The only difference between local and otr is you sleep in your bed 99% of the time that is it. the H.O.S. Don’t change and people don’t act different to drivers plus otr and local drivers start their 10 at the same time only thing different is the commute time to their bed.
First things first Feller if they feel that way they're not drivers . Anybody can be taught to drive a truck but you cannot teach somebody how to be a truck driver it is two different things. Somebody that can drive a truck that's exactly what it means they can get a truck from point A to point B but that's not a truck driver a truck driver we'll do it efficiently with style in class
Trucking is a tool just like a good credit score. You can go from point A. to point B. Easy real easy because you can control your spending because you are living in a plastic prison.
Darn! Take an old man’s advice!…….This guy is spot on! From a 66 year old O/O trucking to get out of the house. O yea……Don’t buy that new pickup when money is good!
Bro I’m 19 and looking into doing local until I’m 21 and the way your explaining it all is the best so far !! Would you happen to have instagram or facebook

It’s amazing people can’t comprehend that in trucking! Thank you for watching I really appreciate it!
Thank you for always taking the time and sharing these videos. You always have good information and motivation for everyone, and people should really listen to your advice in trucking and investing. Thank you for your videos. And be safe out there.
I appreciate you for saying that. Thank you for watching and stay safe out there as well!

Construction, welding, plumbing, mechanic, electrician, towing, mowing, farming, any of those jobs pay better than a truck driver and home daily.
@@francomtz7115depends on your state

Hard work! Hard work! If u are lookin for an easy job then trucking isn’t for u and u won’t succeed in life
@stevo6891 I will never drive a dumb truck. But if your a guy who wanna be home every night, then it’s definitely a good choice
@stevo6891 yeah give it a try bro. One thing that made me accountable is making UA-cam videos so I had to get my cdl lol. I didn’t wanna look back few years later and be like man imma delete them videos
Trucking has a way of taking out the weak ones. They won't last more than a year if they're not mentally strong with a good work ethic

Thank you Jon! I really appreciate you sir!
Love the content. Gonna stick with Swift for a year and then will switch over to Crete. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching man I appreciate it!
Depends on many factors, for you it may, for others it may not be a waste. Got mine in 93, so I have seen the changes.

They all know what each other is paying I like your positivity though. It's all of corporate America not just Trucking

60 cents a mile doing 3,000 miles per week is over $93,000 per year. That's NOT counting bonuses/benefits.

Good video
I'd love to hear how being an OO is going. Has anything surprised you so far?
Took me 20 years to realize it's bs

Good talk
Thanks for tuning in!
You're only half of my age
