I loved all Carnation albums so far and Cursed Mortality is no exception. They get it done to write actual hits you can remember, an asset I don't find in too many Death Metal bands nowadays.
Jord - Tundra Burden Of Grief - Destination Dystopia Aeon Winds - Night Sky Illuminations King (AUS) - Fury And Death Aeternus - Philosopher Hinayana - Shatter And Fall Mephorash - Krystl-Ah Æolian - Echoes Of The Future Darkness Ablaze - It All Shall Burn Silent Planet - Superbloom
I haven’t heard too many metal albums from November; but from what I’ve heard I like Suffocation’s Hymns from the Apocrypha, Sadus’ the Shadow Inside, and Panopticon’s the Rime of Memory the most. I want to check out the new Carnation and Aeternus albums though.
Panopticon's late month release is probably one of my favorites of the year. Possibly one of their best Insomnium, Sodom and Celeste released really good EPs this month too
Sea Mosquito's album is the best weird BM we got this year since Hive Mind Narcosis back in June. I keep commenting on The Metal Meltdown for Robert to review it, I hope he watches your video and be motivated to at least listen to it.
Vastum was the one that rocked my world, which was kind of surprise for me cause despite liking Vastum wasn't expecting much from yet anoher album or theirs
Panopticon, hands-down. Austin knows how to craft a master piece. And to top it all off, that Exulansis album really helped drive an A+ black metal November. Also, I love the video playing in the background, it looks vaguely familiar but I can't quite place my finger on it.
Carnation seem like such a capable metal band upon my first listen of the first track. I doubt I will listen to much, but they have great sound and mixing. Maybe Entrails "Epitome of Death" and some old Grave, Entombed/Unleashed, Desultory were enough for me in this sub-genre. Is there anything in the past year similar to The Ruins of Beverast or Schammasch? Anything like Shape of Despair or old Evoken?
I'm glad you reviewed Sea Mosquitoe. I found them recently. I thought it's like the demon child of Portal, Blut Aus Nord, & mid era Mr.Bungle. whilst listen to industrial.
Definitely going to have to check out Carnation, Helga, and the remix of one of my favorite albums, Sunbather. Those sound sweet. Here are my favorite metal albums of November. 1. Panopticon - The Rime of Memory (atmospheric black metal/folk) 2. Faidra - Militant : Penitent : Triumphant (atmospheric black metal) 3. Valdrin - Throne of the Lunar Soul (melodic black metal/symphonic black metal) 4. Aeternus - Philosopher (blackened death metal) 5. Celeste - Epilogue(s) EP (black metal/post-hardcore/sludge metal) 6. Suffocation - Hymns from the Apocrypha (brutal death metal/technical death metal) 7. Vastum - Inward to Gethsemane (death metal) 8. Nostalghia - Echoes from the Moonriver (atmospheric post-black metal) 9. Cirkeln - The Primitive Covenant (melodic black metal/heavy metal) 10. Sammale - Finno-Ugric (atmospheric black metal/ambient)
My favorite of the month 1. Panopticon - The Rime of Memory 2. Convocation - No Dawn for the Caliginous Night 3. Neurectomy - Overwrought 4. Suffocation - Hymns From The Apocrypha 5. Cruciamentum - Obsidian Refractions 6. Valdrin - Throne of the Lunar Soul 7. Vastum - Inward to Gethsemane 8. Night Crowned - Tales 9. Totenmesse - Fiktionlust 10. Æolian - Echoes of the Future 11. Nahasheol - Serpens Abyss’s 12. Amalekim - Avodah Zarah 13. Aeternus - Philosopher
Killer list. Several bands on here I haven’t heard of that I need to check out. My personal favorite this month is probably Inward to Gethsemane by Vastum
For me the best album of november is Valdrin’s „Throne of the Lunar Soul” - I recommend it, if You didn’t listen to this band, they are fucking awesome :v
Albums of the year 2023 Humanitys Last Breath - Ashen Violet Cold - Multieverse Tsjuder - Helvegr Frontieres - La Trilogie Escape From Wonderland - Pieces Atoll - Human Extract End - The SinOf Human Fraility Ten56 - downer part 1 and 2 To The Grave - Offcuts Disfiguring The Goddess - The Brutal Machine
My fellow countrymen (Denmark) in TEMPLE OF SCORN (featuring members of Dawn of Demise, Horned Almighty and Exmortem etc... ) released their excellent death metal debut album 'Funeral Altar Epiphanies' on 24.11.23; check it out! 🤘
I like both of the new Exulansis records- but I have been listening to the neofolk record more. In fact, I was just listening to it this morning with my father, and he was like, “Who’s this?”. I think he liked it. I love the melancholy of the folk record, and it is so comforting to have a neofolk record that is not done by bootlicking neo fascist dinguses.
I loved all Carnation albums so far and Cursed Mortality is no exception. They get it done to write actual hits you can remember, an asset I don't find in too many Death Metal bands nowadays.
Great point!
Good to see Hinayana get some love. That'll end up in my top Melodeath list for the year. Really impressed me.
Such a great record!
Panopticon's release to me was a perfect 10/10. Probably the best thing Austin has released to date.
Yeah it’s amazing. Unfortunately we heard it after we recorded this vid.
Jord - Tundra
Burden Of Grief - Destination Dystopia
Aeon Winds - Night Sky Illuminations
King (AUS) - Fury And Death
Aeternus - Philosopher
Hinayana - Shatter And Fall
Mephorash - Krystl-Ah

Great additions, Forgemate
Great list fellas! Love the show!
Thanks for tuning in, Forgemate!
Nice list! My tops for the month are Xoth "Exogalactic", Hinayana "Shatter And Fall", and Valdrin "Throne Of The Lunar Soul" for the win.
Great picks, Forgemate.
Valdrin - Throne of the Lunar Soul - one of the AOTY - check out the title track or Golden Walls of Ausadjur
Thanks for the picks!
As always a great list, which inspires checking out one or two I've missed out on.
Personally: Hinayana, Night Crowned, Shylmagoghnar, and Aeolian
Great list!
Sea Mosquito's album is the best weird BM we got this year since Hive Mind Narcosis back in June. I keep commenting on The Metal Meltdown for Robert to review it, I hope he watches your video and be motivated to at least listen to it.
He might!! Sometimes he checks out our lists haha
Vastum was the one that rocked my world, which was kind of surprise for me cause despite liking Vastum wasn't expecting much from yet anoher album or theirs
Thanks for the suggestion! Been seeing that name thrown around a bit for November.
Panopticon, hands-down. Austin knows how to craft a master piece. And to top it all off, that Exulansis album really helped drive an A+ black metal November. Also, I love the video playing in the background, it looks vaguely familiar but I can't quite place my finger on it.
One person guessed it correctly! Hunt around the comments. :D
Cruciamentum - Obsidian Refractions is my album of the year. Excellent stuff.
Thanks for that overlooked addition!
Even in an exeptional year for death metal, Cruciamentum is near the top for the genre with this one...
dont know about Exulansis, but since you mentioend about Felled album - i'm gonna give that a listen today. avsolutely loved that felled album
They're like cousins from different parts of the world haha.
Great list, gents!
Convocation’s “No Dawn for the Caliginous Night” BLEW ME AWAY this month!
See ya for year end lists season!
\m/@@\m/
Thanks for that overlooked suggestion!
One of the heaviest albums of the year, in the true sense of the word...
Nothing really comes to mind. Death / doom has been very, very quiet this year.
Is that The Blob remake playing in the background? Nice. lol
Yep! One of my favs
Tough miss on Cruciamentum's-Obsidian Refractions. One of the most dynamically riff dominant death metal albums of the last decade.
I'm glad you reviewed Sea Mosquitoe. I found them recently. I thought it's like the demon child of Portal, Blut Aus Nord, & mid era Mr.Bungle. whilst listen to industrial.
Haha I like those comparisons!
Valdrin - Throne of the Lunar Soul took the month for me
Why did that one stand out to you?
Definitely going to have to check out Carnation, Helga, and the remix of one of my favorite albums, Sunbather. Those sound sweet. Here are my favorite metal albums of November.
1. Panopticon - The Rime of Memory (atmospheric black metal/folk)

Awesome! Gonna have to scope Nostalghia and that Celeste EP!
Thanks for the Sea Mosquito mention, glad you enjoyed the weirdness!
