Sorry I missed this outing. I always enjoy the Monday markets in Scalea. The food market is fantastic with the organic fruits, vegetables, and sausage and cheese. Beans, olives, onions, the list goes on and on. The Tropea onions in season now are spectacular. Wilma taught us how to frill the onions in olive oil at her last cooking class. So simple, yet it brings out the sweet flavor. Then a few blocks down the household market has anything you want! Such fun. I tend to not partake in July and August due to the extreme crowds and heat, but it’s year round so plenty of opportunities to get what you need. Just another Italian adventure. Chris, thanks for sharing such a fun video. It was nice to see so many of my new friends. You are making EVERYONE FAMOUS!
Wow, I can't remember the last time I saw so many items at the Scalea market, and the good thing is you don't need to bring too many Euros to shop there!
I want to go shopping! Looks like a fun place. Looks like a fun outing in the market. Love the rugs and shears and...of course the food! Enjoy the beautiful weather!
that market looks so fun. is there another day when there is just a farmers market? i love to go to a market, purchase what looks good, and then go home and make a yummy lunch or dinner :)
Hi Deb! Yes, there is a fruit and vegetable market even day in Scalea and there are always trucks parked on the streets with fresh from the farm produce. You will never have a hard time finding amazing produce here!
Thanks for sharing this! We have been regulars at the Soverato and Tropea markets over the years and can’t wait to hit the Scalea market when we get there at the end of September! You truly can find anything you’re looking for and much you’re not!
Do you know anything about the quality of items? When bargain shopping for clothing I worry about the sustainability and fair labor practices behind the items.
Brava super savvy.....the man wanted to charge you more for the bracelet....may be because in Scalea people think that americani are rich ....so they make double prices 😀

Hi Judith! It is in Scalea!
Love it! Are you able to try on the clothes before buying?
I think you can over your clothes but I am not sure. I buy mostly stuff I know is going to fit.
Do you know anything about the quality of items? When bargain shopping for clothing I worry about the sustainability and fair labor practices behind the items.
I pretty much look for made in Italy but I have no idea beyond that.
Amazing Market in Scalea. How far is the market from SDT ? Can you walk or ride a bike or do you need a car?
The market is not far, about 6 kilometers down the hill. You can bike but you have to bike uphill to go back. You can scooter or take an Ebike or car.
@@SuperSavvyTravelersLLC Did you remember to enquire about the local buses to/from SDT?
Brava super savvy.....the man wanted to charge you more for the bracelet....may be because in Scalea people think that americani are rich ....so they make double prices 😀
Thank you Isidoro! In the end I got a pretty good deal!
Do you need how to drive to live in Calabria?
No you can find housing close to train stations and services and not have a car at all.
Please send me all the cheese 😃
Yes! It is my favorite part of being here! I love the fresh cheeses!
