A neighbor had a wedding at their place and didn't want to put the 4' deep anchors for the tent in the lawn so during the party after the vows a wind gust blew the tent across the field and they had to pay $2500 to the rental place for the damage. Glad your weights are working , and looks like it is a good idea , no tripping hazard.
Thank you, they are working well. I would hate to lose our big tent, I'm sure it would do some damage. -Mike
AndersonCattleCo. Looks like your neighbor got a little reality check he should have just made a couple small holes on his lawn would of cost him less that 5% of what he paid epic fail
What an excellent idea! Our plant tent tries to blow away every year so this is what we will do this year! Thanks.
Glad I can help! - Mike
I'm always amazed at how innovative you guys are. Practical solutions, I like it.
Thanks Justin, you see a problem that needs solved and you figure out how to solve it. Thanks for watching! -Mike
Great video as usual. This may be missing the point but you have now added >200lbs of concrete at head level. If the canopy ever does start moving/swinging it may be harder to control as this addtl mass is moving with it ( and near somebodies head ) . There is also the additional cumulative compression load on what are usually quite flimsy tent legs. I like the idea but could you modify by adding hooks or straps at the bottom of the legs and attaching there like your old buckets. Since the tubes are narrower the trip hazard is done away with and the additonal mass is not having to be supported by the original tent legs while having the benefit you want of weighing it down. Anyway looking forward to more videos.
Thank you Stuart, you must be an engineer! haha. Great ideas, the one great thing about doing things like this is getting other peoples opinions and ideas. Yours will definately come in handy. Thanks for watching. -Mike
Thanks for this, been needing this idea for years. I do Paintless dent repair, and need a tent sometimes. Ive built this after watching the video the other day and it’s working really well.
My suggestion is to let the extra bolt length set into the concrete, may with an extra net at the end.
Thank you very much ! - Mike
good idea, looks like they would swing and fall, babe secure them to the posts with velcro going around the pipes and poll, cheers thanks for making these
Thanks, velcro is a good idea, the hook is pretty tight and luckily we havent had any fall yet! -Mike
Ingenuity ❤, so much, so good, thanks!❤❤❤❤
Having traveled between Denver and Casper, I've seen my share of loaded big rigs blown over. That wind definitely separates the wheat from the chaff.
My father in laws most used joke about Wyoming is it's official state tree, the telephone pole...
Thats good! I've never heard that one, but I have seen a few telephone poles knocked down by wind. Thanks Zach. -Mike
Great idea!
Thanks, and thanks for watching! - Mike
Oh wow thank you
Thank you for watching :) - Mike
Thank you
Mike, have you heard this one before? "Wyoming Wind Festival...Jan1 to Dec 31" haha! The winds up here on the east side of the continental divide can be brutal. Not unusual for 100mph gusts. Good luck with the canopy! Looking forward to Sunday morning!
Thats no joke. This months high wind was 55, for the year however its was 73. That can get spooky! Thanks Deb. -Mike
Great idea.
As I watched your video
The I hook great idea
Another option
After drilling hole cap. Push I hook thru cap into cement dbl security
Brilliant 👍🏻🍻
Nice video
i would think a dangling 20 pound weight would be a bigger hazard than a bucket on the ground?
well, its not like they are swinging around like a wrecking ball. They do stay in place and against the pole well. The strap idea other people have had is a good one and we are going to implement that. Thanks! -Mike
I'm not sure why one would buy eye bolts then cut them when j-hook bolts are readily available...?
Cool video. Cool voice. You should be some kind of story tell voice over person. Seriously 🙂 probably already are
Trying to help. We have the same weight setup but velcro them to the bottom of the legs. Our market manager told us if they were dangling up there at the canopy that we would be barred from the market because of liability issues. Imagine some poor kid getting hit by this. Hope you have good insurance.
Thank you very much, and thanks for watching - Mike
Some people have a funny way of trying to help
Just strap em to feet with Velcro/ bungee/ ratchet straps/ cable Ty’s
Why wouldn't you just strap these to the bottom of the tent legs? Is there a reason for the jBolts, Eye Bolt strategies to hang these? I would expect a simple few zip ties would hold these to the bottom of the legs just fine.
Mostly for ease of installation. Thanks - Mike
@@OurWyomingLife - Awesome thanks for that simple answer :) Cheers
i thought zip tying these to the bottom would be a good idea
Low flying trains huh? lol
Lol WHY did you use PURPLE primer??!?? 😂
Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just spread the eye open rather than trying to cut the hook? I live and work on the ranch also but I must be lazier than you because I always try to find an easier softer way.
Can I just hang some workout weights
Can't help but think this is an AI narrated video. The voiceover doesn't sound like a real person.
