Ron,
Don't feel bad. My right flipper on my Space Lab was dragging as well. I replaced the flipper bushings and used a thick piece of cardboard between the flipper and the playfield as a spacer and it adjusted perfectly. Mine has the little window on it.
Very cool, thank you for watching Papa Frank!
I personally LOVE hearing the detailed explanation of the machine's logic/switches/etc. Brilliant for its time, still a wonder to behold.
Thank you Doug, we enjoy them too, very cool logic behind these things!
After watching so many of your videos it's pretty cool to see my own machine being repaired. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through it. I can't wait to watch part 2 and see it in action. I'm excited about the longer legs too. My whole family is tall so that will definitely be appreciated. Anyway I should be able to come by Friday afternoon and pick it up. Thanks Ron!
I admire and agree with your position on not criticizing others who work on pinball games. What follows is meant as a compliment to you and not a criticism of the previous guy who worked on this machine.
Your touchup jobs look better than the previous touchups on this machine.
Thank you Bradius, we're all varying degrees of 'not very good' in my opinion so I don't like criticizing people who are learning and trying like I am! Thanks for watching!
Hey Ron! I'm currently working on a Skylab myself. I've got all of the electrics and mechanicals working but I need to do some clean and touch up the playfield and cabinet. Regardless, my Skylab has a credit unit with wheel and window. Score enough points and an extra game is added. So, I have no idea what version game I have!
I own this machine! Such a simple game, but it’s always worked perfectly and I love it
I've been waiting for more videos that deal with fuse and powering issues!! I've been stuck for 2 years on one of my pins with similar issues. Can't wait, I'm learning so much! Thanks for all the great videos.
I hope it helps, email if you get stuck!
I’d love one of these. I’m into the space thing. The warm color pallet is very pretty.
Yeah I really like it. By the way, we just had ANOTHER Circus dropped off to be fixed, lol
@@LyonsArcade circus machines are awesome. You’ll probably have them all fixed before I finish this one. 🤦♂️
Ron, the thing you're talking about is called a "Newton's Cradle." Can't wait to see the next video on this one! BTW, I just watched the house you built for the Freddy machine and now I will never believe you when you say you're not an artist! That was absolutely beautiful work! 👍✌️
Lol, a five footer, :) great video, thanks!!!!
Good old five footers :)
Very useful video as you start at the very beginning and go from there.
This was a bit of a surprise as I was expecting part 2 of the clock. ….
Here comes another old time pinnie brought back from the dead by Ronnie.
This game will probably play real well as an Add A Ball. Looking forward to part 2.
I'm just doing clock and radio videos and stuff like that on the weekends, during the week we're going to keep doing pinball and arcade and jukebox videos like we always have, the other ones are just intended as a 'bonus' if anybody cares to watch them. I'm a sucker for these Add A Ball games, I like the concept behind it and how the law forced them to get creative!
Great Video Ron, Great machine. Well explained made total sense.Look forward to the next one
coming soon!
look at all the wear on the chimes, must be a real fun game!
They've played the heck out of this one...
Great video ron
I've found, people who bluster like that old guy who you worked with when you where younger, their shouting to cover their own lack of knowledge.
I'll share an experience I had your story reminded me of; In my job, I worked with an "Architect" who was supposed to be the system expert. I'd been tasked with investigating an issue, which I'd been looking into for 4 days. I came to the "stand up" (daily meeting the team has) on the fourth day and I presented all my findings to the team, detailing where the fault was. This "architect", lets call him Simon, started telling the team how I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about, ranting about how he's worked with the system for so many years and telling the team not to listen to what I'm saying and explaining another solution (which was transparently incorrect to anyone who actually looked at the code). I interrupted him, before he made a COMPLETE idiot of himself, and said, "Look, Simon, I've been looking at the actual code for 4 days now. I KNOW how it works because I've actually checked". He turned red and continued to bluster (strangely the young team listened to him, I guess it works on the impressionable), later, he went to HR to complain about my conduct and that I "contradadicted him in front of the team" and I was called up to "explain my conduct" where I politely explained how I was correct and offered to SHOW them how I was correct. They let it go, but, that guy, he's still an Architect, still getting promoted. So presumably, being that way works in a corporate environment (very sad). Which is why I love your work here, its all about finding out, not about posturing. You have massive knowledge but your humble and admit when your wrong, in short my kinda people!
Thanks for filming all these Ron!
Yeah.. Add a Ball is great thing for home games. I don’t have any EM machines myself, but after watching these vids, it would be fun to tinker with one. The solid state machines I do have are set up to give you extra ball, points, etc. when given the option.
Hey Ron!!
As a “Schnell”, I approve of your German made glue stick ✌️😂
My mother’s maiden name was Holstein our family roots Go back to Germany as well
Those UHU (you who) sticks have been available in Canada since the 80s. It was good stuff back then!
I like 'em a lot!
There was even dutch on the gluestick.. sterk en snel.. 😁
I know ain't it great?
@@LyonsArcade yeah.. great. Been watching your video's for a long time now.. and seeing my that in the states is cool.
At 31:35, is that the transformer sending the bees through them wires?
it is!
Angry pixies actually. Gets really bright and sparkly when they get out.
What do you think is going on with the inserts/depressions/drill holes in the chime bars? Unbelievable, that someone would try to fine-tune the musical pitch of the chimes! I can't wait to hear them!
Let's hope this one goes better than the clock repair ;)
Hopefully!
@@LyonsArcade I have absolutely no doubt, whatsoever, in the slightest,at all, even slightly, that it will leave in considerably better condition than it arrived Ron. Because if it did we wouldn't be seeing it here ;) Come on people Ron aint about to show him messing it up now is he people now, seriously ?
There is a Skylab at Pinky's Revenge in Greer, SC.
Uhu are a good quailty adhesive. Been around a long time.
I know you don't like that C place, but there are other items made there that are not made of Chineseum. That said, it is great to see you supporting home made or EU made. There are some great companies outside of C that don't get as much publicity because they are not as cheap to by from.
Since there is a circuit breaker on the dc output line, then probably a dc coil or the bridge rectifier is bad. Powering up the playfield will tell the tale.
Great video Ronne, I did not see alot of one player games. Can you change a 10amp with a 10 amp slow blow fuse, are they interchangeable. Can not wait for the second video. Thanks Ronnie.
Gotta start somewhere, after all
Yup. I've found that most of the people who don't like beginner's questions or amateurs, are themselves an amateur in the grand scheme of things. None of us really know much about anything, so enjoy it and help those around you if you know a little bit you can share with them
JOES< What was causing the fuses to blow? The transformer was good, the lock relay was good, the gameover relay was good, so what was it? I have never seen you use the SERVICE JACK, any reasons why you don't use this when troubleshooting?
In 1979, NASA's Skylab space station crashed near in Western Australia, not too far from where I live. Please keep this one locked up in your shop. : )
It happens, one of us rednecks is going to shoot down that damn Chinese Balloon later today so we'll see where it lands!
Hey where would I look to find schematic for a rock-ola mystic 478.
Very cool machine. These dumb laws back in the day were bored lawyers before the internet. You weren't gambling. If the machine spit quarters on the floor when you did something, that would be gambling. Once your quarter went in the slot... it was not yours anymore. By that same logic, if somebody sucked at pinball, they were being unfairly stolen from. These videos are priceless for the owners of these machines. Now the owner of the machine knows how to troubleshoot problems. Most causal people don't own a meter, so you have to shoot blind. If you can't afford or use a meter, why would you buy one? I know this seems crazy to us, but it happens. BTW. I just realized; flipper damage triggers me. LOL I hate it!!!
It wasn't cuz the negative to me, that baseball game was amazing.
Thank you 5in1!
"A couple of days", Nooooooo. That's way to long Ron. ☹️
See you Friday!
I recently bought a Williams Eager Beaver from 1965 and the cabinet looks similar to Ship Mates like you have in the shop. I'm not sure if Eager Beaver is supposed to have 2 longer and 2 shorter legs like I have. Do you happen to know Ron?
@@googpix540 Thanks for the tip!
I don't raz the owner.... if a fuse is out, try replacing it once, just in case it was a fluke... if it pops the new fuse, then it's time to troubleshoot. In fixing guitar amps, I've seen fluke conditions where a fuse replacement got the job done.
Joe, what did the guy say about this? "it's broke"
How'd you' know?????
That re-touching is nice from far, but far from nice.
just unplug every connection and hit every single contact point with a wire brush.
That would probably work
@@LyonsArcade I have experience with old pinball machines.
Yodelayheehoo
Hello Lil Everette!
I suppose if that old guy taught you how to fix it Ron, you wouldn't need him anymore, right. Can't blame him really for trying to hold onto business. Hey until youtube, ebay, aliexpress and the like came along, guys like that would still be doing the same thing more than likely. But yea, I get what you mean, he could of been helpful, but he just chose not to be. Glad everyone don't see things the same way. But maybe I'm being too harsh, he might of been just thinking about the potential safety hazards, fire and electrocution for example. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt 🙂
he was kind of trying to teach me, he just wasn't any good at it and very impatient. He thought we were all idiots.
@@LyonsArcade Well if he every saw any of the videos you're making on youtube, I think he would of been impressed 😉The specific content you upload is unrivaled imo. These old pinball tables and arcade machines are really interesting. I just missed a lot of the old 70's tables. I was born in 74. Love the art work, like the back glass especially.
Looks like they used housepaint on the cabinet! Yuck. Strip it and repaint it! bleah
You're telling me to do 80 hours of work
I'm not going to do 80 hours of work
