- Things in my bus: amzn.to/3Lkzey7
Now that I'm consistently spending more time in unfamiliar places with the bus, I want the extra peace of mind of having some added security to my home. Yes, this rig will never be absolutely 100% guarantee secure, but I can make steps to add levels of security and that is my goal in this video. Hopefully you find something useful to your build!
There are now two separate locking measures on the back door, two separate locking measures on the drivers door, a steering wheel lock, and locks with hinge pins on the front entry door.
Looking at a Schoolie for a single lady, THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!! The after market door is appealing. I just saw hinges that have non removable pins.
Very clear discription! I just had a muffler shop weld rebar over my catalytic converter on my E 430 short bus as the thieves are hitting the neighborhood.
Thanks a ton for this video. I’m preparing to head out as a solo female with cats and trying to figure out security. I ordered the steering wheel thing and a van lock for the driver door (I knew this was a huge safety problem in a 2008 Ford) and am very grateful for the ideas!
Good suggestions! Anything you can do to make things more difficult should encourage dishonest people to move along. I’ve seen people put bars across the cab windows, too, but hopefully you’re not going anywhere that dangerous. Might be worth bolting a small safe inside for your computer gear, too.
You're absolutely correct, the only thing you can do is deter and delay. If somebody is really that hellbent on taking your bus, no matter what you do, they're going to take it. All you can do is make it a little more difficult and challenging to do it. The only other thing that you might add to the mix is a kill switch on the ignition so if they attempt to hot-wire it, it wouldn't start. That's a little more involved, but you're pretty savvy, you could figure it out. Are you going to add anything to the handicap door to keep it from being opened? Otherwise, I think you did a great job.
I do hope to add some sort of electrical disconnect in the starting system when I do some general electrical maintenance on the starting batteries. As for the handicap door, that is actually permanently sealed shut and cant be opened anymore so that one's all locked up!
Hello dear another awesome video sharing ❤️📷📷..
I absolutely love this video too...

Thanks so much Luiz! Appreciate the feedback and the support, see ya in the next one!
Now I know how to break into your bus, thanks babe😂
No thank you! ;)
Great video. How about a lockable diesel cap? I'm surprised you don't have that. It was the first thing I installed.
I'm pretty sure there are hinge covers that can be installed and hinges without removable pins.
What's the product called that you used to lock the drivers door?
Look for a heavy duty van door lock on amazon, there's several different style options and brands that make different versions that fit the same application.
Your video keeps freezing and skipping. 🤷
Sorry about that! It may be an internet issue on your end because I don't see that happening when I watch things back on my end...
