The inaugural Celebration of Confidence benefitting the Alex Morgan Foundation was held on Wednesday, October 11th, the same day as International Day of the Girl. Guests from across the San Diego business and sports communities and event sponsors came together to raise funds for sports equity, opportunities for girls and support for moms. The foundation honored community impact programs: TranscenDANCE, Rady Children’s Hospital, Let’s Go South Bay, Girl Effect, and Casa Familiar. Guests enjoyed vibrant performances by youth dancers enrolled in TranscenDANCE, Summer Swee-Singh and the Slapback Club, and DJ Hiba. Alex Morgan presented $50,000 grants to Rady Children’s Hospital and to Let’s Go South Bay to continue the partnerships started in 2023. To culminate the evening, Alex presented 2023 Homebreak Leader of the Year awards to two local youth soccer players who were nominated by their coaches. Nina Asnani, age 14, and Siena Schwarz, age 11, shared inspiring stories reflecting their grit and leadership on and off the field. The evening was emceed by sports broadcaster Hally Leadbetter and funds raised will support the mission of the Alex Morgan Foundation to build a more empowered and equitable future. Guests included San Diego Wave players, Team President Jill Ellis, and General Manager Molly Downtain, and Head Coach Casey Stoney along with professional athletes Joe Musgrove, Kerri Walsh-Jennings, Andre Reed, Kaillie Humphries and Chase Daniel.
