Most issues I faced in this case are due to oversized expansion divices. Even with crankcase heaters and pump-down, the slugging occurs, causing the break of many compressors. After a deep dive into the manufacurer's equipment docuemts, I found that both compressors and expansion valves were oversized compared to the evaporator's capacity. I have changed both with suitable ones, and the system now is running with no issue since 2016.

Sistema de compressores em paralelo para congelados acontece muito de quebrar biela, capa de bielas quando não se usa equalizador de pressão e equalizador de óleo nós compressores,
Aqui no Brasil já encontrei vários casos com quebras de compressores.

I found a copeland 3d with a blown gasket between 2 cylinders (the gasket that goes on the right side picture) at 11:46. Would slugging cause that? The discus valves looked fine though.

    Hi Motor!
    Your education materials are awesome!
    I have a quick question.
Piston VS. scroll, which is more vulernable to slugging or flooding?
    Thanks in advance.
