Does the size of the chimney determine how fast the temperature can rise?

on the bigger pot I first used a copper carbonate wash and sponged it off so it was just left in the cracks then I brushed on two coats of copper penny lustre which is gersley borate 80grams, nepheline syenite 20grams, copper carbonate 2grams, cobalt carbonate 1gram and yellow ochre 7grams. And on tne other two I used a copper glaze which is gersley borate 80grams, nepheline syenite 20grams and copper carbonate 3grams.

Hi Caroline Yeomans. Tell me please. Is it cheaper to use gas than electric klin? What do you think? Can it be fired bigger objects like tall vase with walls thick 5cm, using barrel and blowtorch method? How long lasting is the fire of the propane tank you use in this video?

Excellent. That last one was the best. But they are all perfect.

Caroline. I intend to set up a raku kiln. I have never done raku before. Can you please tell me your recipe. You certainly inspire people. Many thanks Pete.

I am a complete novice, but can I ask please, how long did it take to get thekiln hot enough? how much gas does it use up? Is it more economical to run a gas or electric Kiln? What would you recommend

    Hi Sam,
Thanks for your question. From memory I think I used a pop rivet gun but it would be best to pre drill both pieces and use stainless steel nut and bolt. We sadly don’t have the kiln any longer so I can only look at the video.
    Best wishes,

    Hi
I mix them reasonably thick and brush two coats on. I found that if I dipped them the glaze just kept cracking off the pot, not sure why.hope it goes well.

Awesome video. Do you remember your clay body? I searched the comments but didn't find it. Also, is that sodium silicate on the pots. Thanks if you see this.

Hi, thank you. I can't remember what clay body I used as it was such a long time ago. And It was sodium silicate I used on the pots to get the cracks.

Hi Caroline, sorry to be a pain but do you mix these thick to brush on or thin to dip them? i am trying the copper one this weekend.

      Hi
Thanks for your comment, us wives are very patient. I was just wondering if you tried the raku glaze and if so how did it turn out. Not always to pleased with my results and nice to see what results other people get. I did another firing yesterday and with the same glaze got a shitty browney green colour, it only seems to look ok if I put a copper wash on first. What was your experience.

Caroline Yeomans Hi Caroline, yes i tried the copper glaze i couldn't find gersley borate so so i was recommended to use gillespie borate instead, nepheline syenite, copper carbonate, i fired to 1000c then reduced in shredded paper, and the results where a bright turquoise that i wasn't that happy with but sold it at a village fate yesterday (THANKS) i did a video but didn't get round to uploading it so i will get it done today so you can take a look.
