Well said. In May I'll be spending a lot of time helping swabbies figure this game out. And I won't be betraying them for a laugh at the end, pirate or not. The more they enjoy the game, the more they'll come back, and the more they come back, the longer this game will last.

I agree, with this is going to next gen consoles (PS5), we expect next gen features. plus the guilds will help with the community and they should introduce text chat via area, entire sea, group, and guild
when i saw the release for this game i was beyond excited, then was pretty let down to see that it wasn’t coming to PlayStation. Im glad i get to re-live the hype knowing ill finally be able to enjoy SoT
I am now at about 150 h on PS5. I like the game but only as solo. When i encounter other players the game constantly freezes, forcing me to reconnect to the game. In this state, SOT is not playable as a multi player game 😢
I honestly think this so going to be great. Being able to always have new faces in the seas is great. Not to mention that the previous updates over the past year have all been great quality of life for accessibility to new players. AND the new updates that are upcoming are essentially another golden age for Sea of thieves. It’s honestly great marketing from Microsoft and Rare. More sales will also lead to more allocated budget for Rare, which will help Sea of Thieves grow even more. Or maybe even have a new title come out.

I'm someone with an unnatually high ping, I've learned to manage it and become a menace with it in many games, SOT included, I have multiple veteran crew members who say I'm the best cannon shot they've seen, I've been playing a few months, got this game for Christmas from my boyfriend, hit PL, have a distinction, and I'd call myself decent, but no expert whatsoever. I have so much to learn, and each dive, each one-ball takes my game to a Hazelnutbeard error and right back to the ship 😅 But I always come back easily, and go back to my cannon station. The server issues I've seen are certainly nothing to cough at, and I do hope they get a *tad* stronger so I don't crash while in PvP when it's tense. But I've recently discovered you Jon, and your tips as well as Toxie Sinclair's have helped me so much. I'm curious to see how this is going to affect things as a whole on the Seas, a bit excited especially for season 12 and to see how many this truly beings in 👍

I'm a sea of thieves insider that was lucky enough to play the original closed beta before the game released. As soon as it went up for pre order on PS5 i instantly pre orfered the premium edition and took part in the PS5 closed beta, where I helped a lot of the new players get the hang of the game. It was really nice exploring the sea of thieves on PS5 and hearing how excited the players were for the full release

Don't know about anyone else but over the past week I've been getting nothing but crashes, I'm on Xbox series x. Thing's I'm encouraging - It glitches out when I dive rendering me stuck at the bottom, it sometimes backs me out the game when I first join a session, so I have to rejoin the session, it sometimes backs me out the game when I scuttle my ship, or teleports me to it when it's in a sinking animation, and I can't sell at sovereigns sometimes while using my own ship as the captain, I lost a fort of the dammed houl trying to turn in at sovereigns, I decided to scuttle so ppl couldn't see my ship so I could go sell to factions as that was the only way it was going to allow me to do it, it crashed, i had to rejoin session, crashed again as i was stuck in my ship, joined session again and I was back at dagger tooth on my ship, went to get the loot to sell at sovereigns and it had all disappeared lol. Anyone else getting these issues or know how to fix them ?
Yup same with me this game is the only game on my series x to crash and the game is laggy and feels like a fps drops with lots of rendering issues including some random white flashes. Have confirmed this with big SoT twitch streamers and they said it’s not just me so don’t worry it will be fixed soon
I'm on series s and have the same problems, so far 3 days back into the game i haven't been dc'd but its laggy as hell sometimes and my friends get dc'd multiple times a day
I was going to say I'm on series s my friend is on series x and it happens to him but it hasn't happened to me yet so I was going to suggest maybe it's a series x problem but the guy above me said it's happening to him aswell so idk maybe server issues I'm in west coast my friend is closer to the Midwest so 🤷♂️

When you are talking about server performance, you talked able how the game has a lower ship cap and briefly glossed over the dive mechanic, but I don't exactly feel like full significance of the dive mechanic was explained. Servers have become less of a "5 ships on the seas" and more of a revoving door of different players, since the gameplay loop doesn't give a downside to not diving. In my personal opinion, the seas have felt more populated than ever, and its basically impossible to keep track every ship in a session because you have no way of telling when a person is coming and going.

Man… I thought SoT would never be available on PlayStation, ever. Since the initial release I’ve been avoiding SoT content because I got so bummed out every time knowing I would never get to play this gem. My jaw dropped when I suddenly saw it on the PlayStation store. So happy! 🥳 🎉
It’s been the most pre-ordered game on the system, even though it is six years old. This has been an incredible move by Rare and will hopefully keep the game alive for a few more great years
This is truly the 2nd coming I used to play for months and ended up having to sell my Xbox but now that's it's on PlayStation sweet rose is ready for her sails to catch wind once more
Been playing SoT for 4 years, mostly on Series X. I have never had an issue with the game crashing me to desktop as it does now. It started with the first big sandbox tools update they did in February and hasn't really improved. I tend to crash at least once during a session. They better fix it, especially with a whole new system being added.
This game is impossible to link a shity Microsoft account to its not working for me and I don’t know what to do someone help I’ve been trying to link for weeks and can’t link it
The worst part is my ping is 100 on fornite as a example and I’m told a Ethernet is the only solution but issue is the modem(wifi box) is downstairs and 100ft under(2 story house) anyone have recommendation how to solve this issue or alternitive
Get a router in your room that connects to your modem and plug an ethernet cable to the router. That's literally what I do and I rarely get lag issues anymore, if ever. That or if money is an issue buy a better wifi antenna for your device.
3k hour players wont bother with you... unless you try and third party an hour glass fight. It is the 300 hour players who will be stealing your treasure, the ones who think Dark Adventure is edgy, use a sword/ blundy combo, think by anchoring a ship they win the fight, treat kegs as nuclear bombs, spam board, throw firebombs from the water etc. Anyway, you can catch up to this skill level pretty quick and eventually you will be one of them.
I have noticed that for many games server stability has been a huge issue. Also over all in my opinion I have seen the internet in many parts of America and some of Canada have just been having issues all around. I know the issues could be secluded and depends on ISPS but it shows that servers overall need fixing XD

I hope they are actual Humans and not just AI. Always when I play open crew, I get mates with no mic and no abilitie to write or read. They just stand in the tavern, and on good days follow me like a dog. That's it.
Sea of thieves is feeling more fluid and fresh than ever Me looking at my game screen as the water basically flows backwards because the servers are tanking, microstutters everywhere and hitreg finally being "fixed" I love this game but damn that made me chuckle hard... I think you're gonna see a lot of players turning off crossplay to avoid having veteran players bother them when they're barely figuring out the game. It's actually smart. NO one's gonna play safer seas because the payouts are ass

@ChalkyR2D2 apparently they are ps only servers. In the announcement, the devs said ps players will have access to crossplay if they make a Microsoft acct.
@iCXRUX The ps only servers are only for the open beta commencing in a couple of days. Since Sea of Thieves is a Microsoft game, you will most likely be forced to have or make a Microsoft account to play like Minecraft.
Saying a game is dead is so dumb. Games literally don't die. At least not like that. Not to mention NO ONE uses the phrase correctly anyway. If a game has even one player left on its servers it isn't dead. Plain and simple.

More newbies till two thirds of those players get bored and leave after playing for a few weeks, the rest will probably stick around. Kinda sad though they're literally just going to get picked on by the seasoned Xbox and PC players till they either give up or learn enough to put up a fight. Not a fan of the game loop anymore. People forget this is literally just an extraction shooter with loose rules. Griefing is a feature.
I do like that Jon address the biggest problem with the game.. The feeling of an empty world and server problems. A lot of youtuber and normal players seems to keep thinking that (oh.. ps5 will bring more players to the servers, it won't feel so empty anymore).. when in reality, it doesn't matter how many players the game have if the servers aren't able to support more ships.. cause even if the game have over 10 million players playing it at the same time.. The world won't feel more alive.. cause the servers will still only be able to have the same amount of ships on it, and a lot of players prefer to do their own thing over attacking others. That is facts. So if the map stays as massive as it already is and the ship amount don't increase.. the world will still feel as empty as ever. if they want to make the game feel more alive they need to increase how many ships can be on one server, and Fix server stability. So again.. I like that Jon Bardcore addresses this topic a bit.

Game should go free to play already, you already have a premium store in a game that you already bought, there is no point to keep the game behin a paywall on a multiplayer sandbox that need players to be played I buy the game and never spend a penny on the premium store, yet my friends wont buy the game because the lacks of content but if it was free, they will play it, like everyone I know don't think it is worth to buy the game but will try it at the end of the day the grind is just for cosmetics doing the game thing over and over for years, just make it free to play and you will have so much more players, that means more people that could spend money on premium cosmetics that just my opinion, it is great to have ps5 players but for me I think it would be so much better if the game was free and keeping the same nice and friendly to the players battle pass

Because it’s losing player numbers & they need to make it look like the game is still relevant, they’re going to artificially increase the player numbers by opening the game to another playerbase.

As a (former) PS5 owner this hurts. Sea of Thieves is the most expensive pay to play game I have ever played. I bought a gaming laptop and steamdeck thanks to SOT. My PS5 was donated to charity 9 months ago 😢
I think it's absolutely great so have PS5 pirates join the seas! The 5-year road map might be over, but after seeing the preview event, I think they will continue to improve the game steadily. Unless maybe Rare is more interested in making new games.
I'm very much looking forward to more new players coming to the game, sea of thieves is an excellent sandbox for so many different playermade stories to happen, more people being able to experience potentially every session being different and exciting is always a good thing! lets just hope not too many of them vote for hourglass immediately not knowing what it is xD

So many ps5 players are going to play this game a handful of times and never touch it again just like so many xbox players did. Yes millions of downloads is great but when you look at the most basic xbox achievements in the game that only have about 30% completion on them and an achievement that gives you a cool reward being in the 0.5 - 5% usually the lesser than 1% indicates people stopped playing before they even understood the game.
@@JonBardcore ps5 had a 50% drop in players 30 days after release. I nailed it perfectly 5 months ago lol the game just isnt that good and ive quit playing it for the same reason. PvP is a mess and keeping a consistent crew is near impossible.

Don’t worry, once you get it and start hourglass, you won’t want this game anywhere near you haha Nah I’m joking mate you’ll be fine just learn how to fight before doing literally anything else because hourglass PAYS once you actually get good at it. If I were to tell any new player how to learn how to play, I’d tell them this because most people go straight into earning gold and they end up losing it to a bad crew who know a little about fighting and wonder why it happened. Don’t turn into those toxic players too who just love to hate on us pvpers when they couldn’t be bothered to actually understand crucial game mechanics.

Yup same with me this game is the only game on my series x to crash and the game is laggy and feels like a fps drops with lots of rendering issues including some random white flashes. Have confirmed this with big SoT twitch streamers and they said it’s not just me so don’t worry it will be fixed soon

I'm on series s and have the same problems, so far 3 days back into the game i haven't been dc'd but its laggy as hell sometimes and my friends get dc'd multiple times a day
I was going to say I'm on series s my friend is on series x and it happens to him but it hasn't happened to me yet so I was going to suggest maybe it's a series x problem but the guy above me said it's happening to him aswell so idk maybe server issues I'm in west coast my friend is closer to the Midwest so 🤷♂️
@@cruzestrada4652 yeah for me I haven't been crashing just have really bad server lag especially when other players are nearby, im on series s with good internet 60 to 80 mbps, luckily the devs have acknowledged the server lag and are looking into it

When you are talking about server performance, you talked able how the game has a lower ship cap and briefly glossed over the dive mechanic, but I don't exactly feel like full significance of the dive mechanic was explained. Servers have become less of a "5 ships on the seas" and more of a revoving door of different players, since the gameplay loop doesn't give a downside to not diving. In my personal opinion, the seas have felt more populated than ever, and its basically impossible to keep track every ship in a session because you have no way of telling when a person is coming and going.
Fair, but on the flip side if ships are always diving it's hard to catch one with loot

It’s been the most pre-ordered game on the system, even though it is six years old. This has been an incredible move by Rare and will hopefully keep the game alive for a few more great years

Been playing SoT for 4 years, mostly on Series X. I have never had an issue with the game crashing me to desktop as it does now. It started with the first big sandbox tools update they did in February and hasn't really improved. I tend to crash at least once during a session. They better fix it, especially with a whole new system being added.

The worst part is my ping is 100 on fornite as a example and I’m told a Ethernet is the only solution but issue is the modem(wifi box) is downstairs and 100ft under(2 story house) anyone have recommendation how to solve this issue or alternitive

Get a WiFi repeater or mech
the sot servers just suck.
Get a router in your room that connects to your modem and plug an ethernet cable to the router. That's literally what I do and I rarely get lag issues anymore, if ever.
That or if money is an issue buy a better wifi antenna for your device.
100 Ping is not terrible, but look into wifi extenders for your home
I feel like the second I set sail on the high seas some dude with 3k hours will try and rob me
3k hour players wont bother with you... unless you try and third party an hour glass fight. It is the 300 hour players who will be stealing your treasure, the ones who think Dark Adventure is edgy, use a sword/ blundy combo, think by anchoring a ship they win the fight, treat kegs as nuclear bombs, spam board, throw firebombs from the water etc. Anyway, you can catch up to this skill level pretty quick and eventually you will be one of them.
Anyone can rob you. And you can rob anyone. That's the life of piracy on the Sea of Thieves!

the game is updating to season 12 on the 30th of April the are added 2 new weapons the throwing knife and double barrel pistol
New weapons won't do shit when the existing combat system sucks.

I have noticed that for many games server stability has been a huge issue. Also over all in my opinion I have seen the internet in many parts of America and some of Canada have just been having issues all around. I know the issues could be secluded and depends on ISPS but it shows that servers overall need fixing XD

I hope they are actual Humans and not just AI. Always when I play open crew, I get mates with no mic and no abilitie to write or read. They just stand in the tavern, and on good days follow me like a dog. That's it.

Me looking at my game screen as the water basically flows backwards because the servers are tanking, microstutters everywhere and hitreg finally being "fixed"

I think you're gonna see a lot of players turning off crossplay to avoid having veteran players bother them when they're barely figuring out the game. It's actually smart. NO one's gonna play safer seas because the payouts are ass

@ChalkyR2D2 apparently they are ps only servers. In the announcement, the devs said ps players will have access to crossplay if they make a Microsoft acct.
@iCXRUX The ps only servers are only for the open beta commencing in a couple of days. Since Sea of Thieves is a Microsoft game, you will most likely be forced to have or make a Microsoft account to play like Minecraft.

More newbies till two thirds of those players get bored and leave after playing for a few weeks, the rest will probably stick around.
Kinda sad though they're literally just going to get picked on by the seasoned Xbox and PC players till they either give up or learn enough to put up a fight. Not a fan of the game loop anymore. People forget this is literally just an extraction shooter with loose rules. Griefing is a feature.

I mean, it was pretty bare bones ngl.
I do like that Jon address the biggest problem with the game.. The feeling of an empty world and server problems.
A lot of youtuber and normal players seems to keep thinking that (oh.. ps5 will bring more players to the servers, it won't feel so empty anymore).. when in reality, it doesn't matter how many players the game have if the servers aren't able to support more ships.. cause even if the game have over 10 million players playing it at the same time.. The world won't feel more alive.. cause the servers will still only be able to have the same amount of ships on it, and a lot of players prefer to do their own thing over attacking others. That is facts.
So if the map stays as massive as it already is and the ship amount don't increase.. the world will still feel as empty as ever.
if they want to make the game feel more alive they need to increase how many ships can be on one server, and Fix server stability.
So again.. I like that Jon Bardcore addresses this topic a bit.

as someone who played World of warcraft for years.. it really is more special to see a lot of players together doing things interacting with each other.
I mean.. hey, even other sandbox games like Minecraft feels more Fun when you have a big group of players on one server.

Game should go free to play already, you already have a premium store in a game that you already bought, there is no point to keep the game behin a paywall on a multiplayer sandbox that need players to be played
I buy the game and never spend a penny on the premium store, yet my friends wont buy the game because the lacks of content but if it was free, they will play it, like everyone I know don't think it is worth to buy the game but will try it
at the end of the day the grind is just for cosmetics doing the game thing over and over for years, just make it free to play and you will have so much more players, that means more people that could spend money on premium cosmetics
that just my opinion, it is great to have ps5 players but for me I think it would be so much better if the game was free and keeping the same nice and friendly to the players battle pass
They will probably go free to play after a few years it launched on PS5, to gain the most amount of money

For a second I didn't understand, then I got it.
I think it's absolutely great so have PS5 pirates join the seas! The 5-year road map might be over, but after seeing the preview event, I think they will continue to improve the game steadily. Unless maybe Rare is more interested in making new games.

I'm very much looking forward to more new players coming to the game, sea of thieves is an excellent sandbox for so many different playermade stories to happen, more people being able to experience potentially every session being different and exciting is always a good thing!

I see very little downside to an increased playerbase as long as the game holds up!
So many ps5 players are going to play this game a handful of times and never touch it again just like so many xbox players did. Yes millions of downloads is great but when you look at the most basic xbox achievements in the game that only have about 30% completion on them and an achievement that gives you a cool reward being in the 0.5 - 5% usually the lesser than 1% indicates people stopped playing before they even understood the game.
Big difference there would be XBOX Gamepass though, no?
@@JonBardcore ps5 had a 50% drop in players 30 days after release. I nailed it perfectly 5 months ago lol the game just isnt that good and ive quit playing it for the same reason. PvP is a mess and keeping a consistent crew is near impossible.

Nah I’m joking mate you’ll be fine just learn how to fight before doing literally anything else because hourglass PAYS once you actually get good at it. If I were to tell any new player how to learn how to play, I’d tell them this because most people go straight into earning gold and they end up losing it to a bad crew who know a little about fighting and wonder why it happened. Don’t turn into those toxic players too who just love to hate on us pvpers when they couldn’t be bothered to actually understand crucial game mechanics.
