Not only is he talking in record words per minute, dude is shooting, presenting, and EDITING his video on the fly? Even includes BTS angle of the live switcher lol. Respect!
Perfect timing! My Domke F-5XZ Ruggedwear bag (that I love) was starting to fall apart after 6 years of rough use (hiking, daily use, travel, etc.) and was looking for a replacement bag of similar size. I was looking at the Retrospective series back then and was curious if anything has changed. This comparison with the old and new version of the Retrospective 7 was very comprehensive and excellent. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this review. I was looking for a new camera bag and this one is perfect! I’ll definitely use your link when I get mine. I really appreciate your videos.
I already own a retropsective 5 and a retrospective 7 - they are brilliant bags and well done think tank and you for publicising them - i'd love to have another retro 7 - then i could keep one for myself and give the other one to someone i love...
9:15 i just got this bag and its awesome, but this doesn't make any sense to my, why there aren't any metal latches to utilize those brass eyelets to close when not using the velcro .What are they even there for?
I love the look of the camera bag. It reminds of the WWII-army bag (British) I once had, a long time ago. I myself am of pre-war quality - born in 1939 - and ever since I started taking pictures: way back when my daughter was born (1962) I almost yearly bought a new bag. I've got loads of them - like yourself - and every so often I give some away to starting photographers or to a welfare shop. I'm bagmad and I like your shows, clear instructions and nice camera viewpoints Hope The Netherlands ins't too far away from the Golden State.
Though I eventually opted for Fuji, I still watch your videos for the tips I pick up. You're right about the backpack bag, which is what I have right now - darn it can be heavy.
I got two of this bag as a camera bundle, otherwise I would never buy it. However, I’m surprise by how much it can hold, and it’s low key look is great to take to unsafe place like San Francisco. This bag reminds me of the school bag I used in middle school. The velcro is loud, the side pocket buckle is difficult to hook back and there is not much padding. A good utility bag but I wouldn’t pay that much money for it.
Very nice set of bags new and old 8). I'm a new lumix user and have been using a Laptop bag as my camera bag and looking for a "real" camera bag. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed the detailed comparison of these two Retrospective bags, thanks! Either one looks great but "free" is best & would obviously love to win your original Retrospective 7.
I use a back pack style bag but I am looking for some thing like the bag you show on your you tube show. Now packing a gx85 and a few lenses including the new 50-200mm lens.
Good review. I've watched it a few times but am still undecided.@@photojoseph glad to see you still use this bag because I have a question - Is the "31 cm" laptop slot a tight 31 cm, or is there some free play/give with that? I'm torn between the R7 or a bigger version dependent on whether my 31.3 cm, slim laptop will fit in that designated slot. On the rare occasion I might want to put it in there, it'd be a pain if it weren't actually possible. I really don't want to go larger unless I have to because I'm not that big and I'll end up weighing it down so much😄
I like Think Tank gear and have two of their digital holsters. I looked at these but I prefer fastex buckles to velcro so I passed it up. Possibly I may be able to utilise the eyelets and use canvas tarp toggle clips to hold the flap down.
Like the review Joseph. The new bag looks well designed, but the old bag would likely fit my needs. After all, every photographer needs another camera bag.
Why thank you! For everyone who appreciates it, someone else tells me to drink less coffee ;-) I need more viewers like you! Hehe 😀 Hey have you seen my “2018 year in review” video? I just released it… ua-cam.com/video/bWFOgD9zfzY/v-deo.html
Great review - thank you! I have one question: Is it possible to completely remove (and put back on some day) the small handle (not the shoulder strap which I want to use constantly) on top of the bag?
I love the beg, but mine is the older model. The metal got rusted. That reason alone is why i dont upgrade on the new model. Still using the old model for already 5 years, and got a smaller version of it for my mirrorless. Great bag, but need brass.
very nice review, they should have put the water bottle pouch on both sides, that way you could have your water in one and use the other for your phone, to switch lenses or whatever. or have both for outside storage for quick access.
I’ve rewritten this response twice in an effort to not be as insulting as you have… Because as soon as you tilt the rolling bag to roll it, the camera bag falls off.
If you're prone to dropping, may I recommend Pelican? 😬 I agree that they aren't the most padded bags, but for me that's great. Makes them thinner and lighter. I don't need a ton of padding; I need a way to carry and organize my gear.
ENTRIES ARE CLOSED - I will draw the name (from 80 total) using a random number generator LIVE on Wednesday's show. Good luck!
Not only is he talking in record words per minute, dude is shooting, presenting, and EDITING his video on the fly? Even includes BTS angle of the live switcher lol. Respect!
Haha yep, that’s all accurate! 😅 Thanks for the recognition!!
What iPad is that one? I want a relative small/medium bag that fits an 11 iPad Pro
I just bought this bag. Thanks for the review.
I know this was years ago but what a great demo! SO much more useful than the one ThinTank does - thanks!
Haha thanks!!

It’s the camera bag that would complete my collection of camera bags!!
Great review. Would love this bag my camera gear has out grown my current bag and this would fit my needs in a bag perfectly! Awesome videos man!
Great Review Joseph! Thank you!
Thank you for this review. I was looking for a new camera bag and this one is perfect! I’ll definitely use your link when I get mine. I really appreciate your videos.
Brilliant video and really helpful for me looking for a new bag for my micro four thirds system. Thank you
nice!
Your videos are extremely helpful. I will be a faithful follower. Thank you.
Thank you Mary!
Thanks for your generosity.

I think that the stealth aspect of this bag is it’s best thing about it it just doesn’t scream expensive camera gear inside
These bags look awesome! Thanks for the demonstration.

That's a good questions… decorative, I guess!!
Thanks for the review. Is the shoulder strap removable?
No
Excellent. Thanks!
Buying my first DSLR camera soon and need a bag like that for my starter kit.
From one Joseph to another, that bag will definitely go with my shoes.
All the Best From London!
I vibe with this guy. Big bag guy
Looks like a great bag. Thanks for the in depth review
Think tank makes some of the best bags, top quality materials .
Nice bags! Wouldn't mind having one of those.
Thanks for the review! I've got the big ThinkTank Workhorse, but something a little smaller would be nice to have.
Like this bag perfect for outdoor wedding!!
How would this fit the Nikon Zf, and a couple prime lenses?

Excellent bag and I love the review. Keep it up. I am going to buy the V2. thank you
Though I eventually opted for Fuji, I still watch your videos for the tips I pick up. You're right about the backpack bag, which is what I have right now - darn it can be heavy.
Thank you for the detailed comparison!
You're welcome!
Thanks, for all the great content!
Great video and review as always. Wow, M4/3 and the Mavic. That would be very close to my kit. Thanks for the review.

I love both bags!
thank you
Super detailed video, thank you!
I love my version 1. This one looks even better! Thanks for the video, Joseph!
Hi! Is this still your current everyday carry? Can a 14" MBP fit on the inside compartment?
I still use it but not daily. I don’t know the measurements of the current 14” MBP; you’ll need to look that up and compare.
Very nice set of bags new and old 8). I'm a new lumix user and have been using a Laptop bag as my camera bag and looking for a "real" camera bag. Keep up the good work.
Love your gear reviews and your prospective on all things photographic.
Love the videos, keep them coming! You got me to get a GH5 and now probably this bag too!
Am looking at getting this exact bag. Looks good for my gear--2xDSLRs, 4 lenses, 2x flash.
I still love mine!
I would love that bag!
Enjoyed the detailed comparison of these two Retrospective bags, thanks! Either one looks great but "free" is best & would obviously love to win your original Retrospective 7.
Is this a comment to try and win an awesome bag? Yes. Do I still greatly appreciate all the work you and Ryan do? YES!
I use a back pack style bag but I am looking for some thing like the bag you show on your you tube show. Now packing a gx85 and a few lenses including the new 50-200mm lens.
Think Tank certainly makes the best bags out there.
Would love to own one! Thanks, PhotoJoseph.
What do you think of the Think Tank Spectral? I am thinking about getting one of these bags or the Peak Design Everyday Sling.
I am very impressed with the ThinkTank Retrospective 7 v.2, all the features are amazing, this is the bag I want to use for my photography gear!
I still use this bag to this day, three years later! It may well be my longest relationship with a bag 😂
Good review. what gear you can u put in?
Thanks! I shoot a GH4. I have lerned a lot from you! I am a fan. Could definitley use the bag!
What’s with the reenforced holes on the flap, for looks or to put a lanyard through to the back for security? I’ve just ordered the 5 v2.
you know… I think that's just design. Although sure, you could put a carabiner or lanyard through it!
@@photojoseph Thank you

Nice review and video
like your presentation and enthusiasm :) thanks for that
Why thank you! For everyone who appreciates it, someone else tells me to drink less coffee ;-) I need more viewers like you! Hehe 😀 Hey have you seen my “2018 year in review” video? I just released it… ua-cam.com/video/bWFOgD9zfzY/v-deo.html
Bonjour de FRANCE.....Love the bag
That's a nice bag.. I wants one!
for the inside compartment, will it fit an ipad pro 2021 12.9 inch along with its keyboard since it was slightly wider than a 13 inch macbook air.
No
Nice vid! And very nice bags! Fingers crossed :)
Keep growing your beard bigger and that is a Cool bag!
Great review - thank you! I have one question: Is it possible to completely remove (and put back on some day) the small handle (not the shoulder strap which I want to use constantly) on top of the bag?
Does it fit the Sony 200-600 lens?
Love the extra top zip flap and iPad compartment on the outside.
Nice video and bag!
Love think tank products! I would use this for my 6D + other accessories
The new bag looks great, but the older one would be prefect for my 2nd GH5 camera and extras.
How does this camera bag hold up against 2022 models would you still recommend?
I still use mine, and I still love it! It’s my daily carry. MacBook Air on the inside, iPad outside. Camera, coffee, and misc stuff. Great bag.
Love Think Tank bags!
I love the beg, but mine is the older model. The metal got rusted. That reason alone is why i dont upgrade on the new model. Still using the old model for already 5 years, and got a smaller version of it for my mirrorless. Great bag, but need brass.
interesting! I'd never heard that before.
Hi I like the ThinkTank bags from the reviews, but I've never used one. I would put your "old" bag to good use. A well done video as always
Thanks for the video, I don't think this bag gets much attention these days and it obviously deserves more. Hope to win that tan bag!
I also have a bag problem, but could use another one!
I need your old Retrospective because I still haven’t found just the “right” bag, and can’t afford to keep buying new ones.
I love a good shoulder bag..
very nice review, they should have put the water bottle pouch on both sides, that way you could have your water in one and use the other for your phone, to switch lenses or whatever. or have both for outside storage for quick access.
Nice bag!
You should totally watch this video, Dean… ua-cam.com/video/oewc8YoyD7A/v-deo.html
I seem to have 'bag acquisition syndrome' as well. I like the new V2 bag, but could use the V1 for my OMD EM1 II and 1 or 2 lenses
Nice bag... I would like to fill with my gear!!!
Have you heard the rumors of a Panasonic full frame camera being announced next week? If not look into it! I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
Why not just loop the carry handle strap through for the carry on luggage handle? Not sure how you couldn’t figure that out
I’ve rewritten this response twice in an effort to not be as insulting as you have… Because as soon as you tilt the rolling bag to roll it, the camera bag falls off.
@@photojoseph it doesn't fall off when you tilt it, you have to tighten the handle strap so it's not so loose from the beginning. not that hard.
Cool. I’m sure that’s why they added the feature to v2 of this bag. Because it was totally unnecessary. I assume you own v1 and travel with it?
Hey Joseph... did you get my email about reporting bugs to Panasonic?
Haha, I avoid black bags too ;) Almost anything else is preferable!
u inspire me to get this bag. oh wow only 85 comments. thats huge. some people do give aways among 20 000 people lol
Thanks for opportunity. From a novice.
Wow, could you talk faster at first? Very good review! I have used the Retrospective 30’s for 2 years and love them!
V.2 is also better because it eliminates the internal compartments which often interfered with easy gear removal.
You can never have too many camera bags.
Thank tanks are built great - Great quality
Mines just arrived however there's a nice 'tuck away' for the zipped inside that's not mentioned in the video which others was great.
I use camera bags for storing gear in my closet. But now I have so many bags that the closet is full of empty bags!
I have the five for my GX9 and the Version 7 would work better for the G9.
That's a nice bag.. please give me one!
Thanks for doing the giveaway!
Bigger question can you fit your entire beard now into it since this was created 5 years ago and you forgot to shave it?
🧔
Retrospective bags are great but they never have enough protection like foam filled walls. If it falls it will not protect optics inside.
If you're prone to dropping, may I recommend Pelican? 😬 I agree that they aren't the most padded bags, but for me that's great. Makes them thinner and lighter. I don't need a ton of padding; I need a way to carry and organize my gear.
Great review Joseph.I to have think tank bags but not a retro.
My name is nikki greaves and I have a camera bag addiction
I believe there is one space left in my camera bag storage area .... who needs underwear anyways!
