    I think you're one of the only people on the internet who has taken the time and effort to communicate/explain about the intricacies of how to get the best from smartthings on UA-cam. The videos are really engaging and simple to understand and have inspired me to create some interesting automations that I've really struggled with since the shut down of groovy. Please keep up the great work and God bless (happy Easter!).

    Have just pinged you a cuppa as a thank you for this. Hope you get the time to break and enjoy it!
    This has worked brilliantly, although can't get the 'Arm (stay)' to work using the keypad. The routine works in the app in the test environment (it switches across just fine) but not on the pad. Not the end of the world as I doubt I'll use it but if anyone has any ideas then let me know. Thanks so much again for your awesome informative videos and website user guides. 😃

      Thanks Justin. I had this happen before. If this happens enter your code and tap disarm. Then enter your code again and tap Arm-stay and it should go into Arm-stay mode on the keypad.

    Enjoy some coffee Bud... this has been a super fun process! Thank you for the detailed instructions, everything really works flawless. I also appreciate that I can easily take what you provided and expand upon it with my general knowledge of ST, smart home automation, etc. One question that I have, have you seen or found a way to cancel the Exit Delay after setting the alarm to Armed (away)? Having littles it can very easily become an issue of we were leaving now we are staying and having to wait for the timer can be tricky. If I could cancel the countdown it and Disarm it would be cool.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  10 місяців тому +1

      Hey thanks for the patronage John. It is much appreciated!
      I do not know a way to cancel the countdown at this time. However, you could extend the delay period as Ring Alarm exit delay settings provide a maximum delay time of 2 minutes (180 seconds) opposed to the settings I used in the video, (60 seconds). You would then need to update the ST Routine ">Exit Timer (60 Sec) when Arm-Away Button Pressed". Actually, you could change the routine's setting in the ST app for the vEdge Exit Delay Button "Delay this action" setting to a longer time. If the Ring Keypad setting is for 2 minutes, the keypad will show a Arm-Away status at 2 minutes but the SmartThings Home Monitor (STHM) will not arm your home hub until the Delay time in the routine is satisfied. Does this make sense? I tested it with the routine's delay set at 2.5 minutes and my keypad showed Arm-Away at one minute, but the house actually armed at 2.5 minutes. Note that the keypad will continue to display the red line and the blue disarm button after the keypads' set delay time has expired. The red line and blue disarm button will remain on until the delay time in the ST routine completes. Then the red line and blue disarm button will turn off and the red Arm-Away button will light. Hope this helps?

    Thanks Bud for another very informative video. Do you know if it is possible to have more than one security number to arm and disarm the system i.e. so I can see who has armed or disarmed the system and the time it happened by checking a log?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Рік тому

      The driver only accepts a single security disarm code. You would need to ID users via other methods either by using presence detection or via a smart lock access codes.

I did set the sharp tools up too , couldn't set the exit display timer to work but I'm on android went into settings on key pads and it wotrk from that ! Great job . Glad you got it all setup Jeff. I believe it is a little less complicated on the Android because you have access to more keypad functions.
      I believe that the ring siren is just a rebranded Dome siren. That said, it should work just fine. Note that you can use Ring Keypad's built in siren from within the STHM "Security" settings under response. If you decide to use the Ring siren make sure you install the Official Dome Siren Edge Driver to get access to all of the custom Chimes and Alarms: tinyurl.com/mtvpw3b5

    I wanted to see if there is a way to use the Ring keypad so that I can type in a code on the keypad and a smarthings routine can be kicked off. I know this can be done for Arm, Stay and Disarm functions but I wanted to see if he can kick off functions with the Ring keypad without having to Arm, Stay, Away, etc.

    Hi, is it possible to add the whole ring alarm system (base station) in to SmartThings?

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  3 місяці тому

      No. This is not doable. The Ring Alarm base station in a Z-Wave hub and the SmartThings or Aeotec are Z-Wave hubs as well. You cannot install one hub on another hub. You can install Ring Alarm devices on either hub. Z-Wave devices are exclusive to a single hub, meaning that they can only reside on one Z-Wave hub at a time.

    Would this work for eufy key pad? Is there and edge driver for eufy security gear?
    Great work on your channel

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Рік тому

      Thanks for commenting. SmartThings uses Zigbee and Z-Wave wireless protocols. As far as I can tell the Eufy keypad uses Wi-Fi. So I suspect that the keypad would not be directly compatible with ST and therefore not capable of being supported by an edge driver.

    Hey Bud
    Will the ring door sensors that I already use in SmartThings automatically be available with the ring alarm without a reset and are other sensors like my third reality motions sensors enabled.
    Also, I use my echos as speakers when doors and gate open and close so I’m thinking I could still do that with custom device handlers?
    Thanks as always for the vid.

    • @BudsSmartHome
      @BudsSmartHome  Рік тому

      Yes, your Ring Door Sensors will continue to work as usual. There is an edge driver for the door sensor and you would need to exclude your sensors and reinstall them if you want to establish local control. If not converted to edge, the ring sensors will stop working once the ST IDE is terminated. About the echo devices, this driver has no influence on your echo speakers. They will work as usual.
