That's awesome! If you can try it out before committing, we would recommend you do so. But in saying that, we just jumped in and gave it a go. You can always sell it again if you realise it isn't for you. Good luck and look forward to hearing how it goes 😊
Hi guys, I'm new to your channel and love your work ! Just doing what your'e doing is the aim right ? The dollars do add up sometimes, but getting out there, on the boat, with your family - priceless...We have a beautiful Sabre 22 fitted out so we can be off grid for up to 4-6 weeks, as well as a lovely 19ft caravan which we also love....but our biggest whinge is - never enough time ! And you guys are doing it - and it's great to see. Alan, Caloundra, Sunny Coast, QLD
Hi Alan, thanks heaps for commenting. Ohh it would be so good to have an off-grid boat that you could stay on for up to 6 weeks - ours is good for 3 days, maybe up to 5! One day we may even be on a live aboard!! Can't wait to head over to sunny QLD ☺️
Wallers are a great boat, I was looking at one of the or the Jarcat 6 to build... I ended up going down the Jarcat route. I set it up originally as a sailer boat, but I am just about to modify it slightly and put a 20hp motor on and set up as a cruiser... I have spent many weekends around the Blackwood River area, and motoring is just far simpler. Best thing about timber boats is they are relatively cheap and easy to fix
That sounds awesome! We are actually looking out for a jarcat 6 at the moment as we really miss our trips out on the water. If you don't mind me asking how much did it set you back to get one built?
@_WildAdventures to be absolutely honest, I never added it up. It wasn't expensive as I didn't have a lot of money, it was time it took, which would have cost money for someone else to build... but I learnt heaps gave me an awesome experience and still gives me great pleasure when someone at the boat ramp comments. I highly recommend the process of building rather than purchase now, depending on your circumstance. My daughter caught the bug of building yourself as well, and she made a strip plank, cedar, and paulowina paddle board. She is unstoppable now, nothing phases her, if she can't find what she wants she just builds it. I watched the rest of your videos last night. It was awesome work, I have only managed to do Instagram sharing at the moment. Love your camper too, have a great trip wherever you end up, and enjoy the experience.
@@wa_bloopy Oh wow, what an achievement!! We should definitely look into building our own. Thank you for your comments and enjoy your trips too! We may see you out on the water or YT (if you decide to take that path) ☺️
You should know that boat stands for "bring out another thousand". A for marine ply you don't really need if you are going to cover it with fiberglass. I bought two solar panels from J,Car for 100 dollars and they keep my three house batters and my starter batter fully charged, saying that you should get proper marine batteries which might be a bit more expensive but worth the money. Good luck with your boat and enjoy it.
Thank you. I reckon you've done well. With the price of caravans these days, you would have to spend more to get all that you have in your unique camping set up - and you'll rarely have to pay camping fees. Also, I wouldn't underestimate the value of working together as a couple to get your cat to where you can say, it'll do us for now. With regards to the more gregarious campers out there, I'm definitely an introvert and always try to camp in a place that's quiet - which is increasingly hard to find. I think you've nailed it by being on the water. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. Lake Argyle?
18,500 Isn't bad. Now you have a nice, big enough boat to camp in. I know you've heard this one, a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into! lol Welcome to my world! You'll have more fun in the boat than sleeping in a tent or caravaning. Can't fish from a tent!...
Thanks for sharing this has given me a great idea… was going down the let’s get a caravan rout but now a trailer sailer sounds even better

Life doesn’t get much better than mucking about in boats. Just have fun!

Thanks Rob. We'll look into marine batteries 😊
Regarding ongoing maintenance with ply epoxy boats, if built properly, cared for and painted with quality materials, it will outlast you

If you want to call it a trailer sailer, then put the mast and the sails back on.
What's the make and model of your catamaran?

Yeah it's not a bad price, we were just a bit shocked at the refit cost. What type of boat do you have?
