WELIGAMA, SRI LANKA
Weligama is a beautiful town on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, and they happen to have some incredible local food. During the Best of Sri Lanka Food Tour with The Hungry Tourist, we were invited by Uchith and Nick to a relatives home, where they prepared a massive home cooked village cooking and eating experience.
I went a little early to see some of the Sri Lankan food cooking and as they prepared all the dishes. Most of the Sri Lankan food dishes were prepared in earthenware clay pots, cooked over fire to give each dish an incredible complexity and smokiness.
There were more than 19 different Sri Lankan food dishes that they prepared and that we tasted during the day. Some of the dishes were local regional southern Sri Lankan food, and each was spectacular in flavor and complexity of spice.
I wanted to take a little of every single dish, and my plate piled up so high, I didn’t ever realize it. It was an absolutely Sri Lankan food feast!

It's not just delicious, it IS delicious. I have been to Atlanta before. It's just under 2 hours to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If you are ever in Toronto, let me know and I will show you many of the Sri Lankan restaurants with the best foods without going to Sri Lanka. Obviously, it's not going to be the same as back home but close enough.

No artificial ingredients, hormones, or preservatives there. All real food, I wish I could eat like that everyday. I bet they’re all healthy.
We eat freshly cooked dishes for every meal...we eat rice with this kind of side dishes...mostly 1 curry,2/3 vegetable or greens side dishes & 1 meat/fish or dried fish dish for a meal with rice...Sri Lankans don't like store cooked dishes or frozen dishes like other countries...

I am in Mexico! Now in Oaxaca . I saw them a lot ! In Sri Lanka there 2 languages used and mirisgala is Sinhala language and Ammi is the word for it in Tamil:) Very versatile thing

I studied thoroughly about it and used it as a medicinal plant - used it's extract to cure oxidative stress (in my case caused by Metabolic syndrome in rats ). It has enormous health benefits, literally a miracle tree. Has more than 92 nutrients and all are so important for body, especially the anti-oxidants it contains in. Here in Pakistan it is gaining popularity now because of being so beneficial (I am using its powder on empty stomach )and it's cheap on the pockets too. Have got a lot of it grown in our colony. I am from Pakistan and can make make exactly the same Sri Lankan food. They have the best flavour. Now I am expert I kotu, mutton roll, chicken and mutton curry, fish curry, aubergine.
