"Neofolk" is a genre I didn't know I liked until I found these mixes on youtube. How magnificent is that? I'm personally moved because the music is so great for meditation and exercise/yoga! Especially tantric yoga (wink wink lol)✊
I'm a bit confused though, i always thought Neofolk refers mostly to pagan music in modern era, usually related to Wicca religion or paganism, with Celtic/Nordic vibes and such. For example artists like Wardruna, Faun, Heilung, Danheim, Peter Gundry, Trobar De Morte, Dzivia, Anilah etc. so am i in misconception? After all, maybe Neofolk stands for any traditional/ancient music with a modern twist. Usually i call this music psy-dub :D It's good regardless!
Big fan of those Nordic style artists n have it on our Spoity playlists, but as you said, is unfair to only apply it to a certain culture. The point of neo + folk terminology is to highlight the modern take on regional music. You could say we are trying to redefine the word to a broader and more inclusive word 😁

@@nahhan1491 The symbol on my avatar is the ancient symbol for brimstone (sulfur). It's an alchemy symbol. It symbolizes the unified Self because brimstone endures it all, just like the Self. There is a lot more to the symbolism but this is essentially how I use the symbol. It is a very powerful symbol, with references to kundalini and the third eye as well.
