I always look forward to seeing another of your videos that I hadn't yet seen. In a lot of ways watching them is the closest thing when I'm not out myself (accept I've got a few miles, a lot of miles before my quality reaches yours. Whatever, I enjoy my path immensely). Thank you so much for what you do and how you do it.
Hi Andrew. I think the image at 4:47 works, not only because of the dark cloud and the post (or more likely the rocky outcrop) but also because the lighter sky reflects the pattern of the shore line. I agree that there is a lot of negative space top and bottom, I might have been tempted to a more rectangular crop cutting out some sky and sand, but I probably would have kept both versions due to indecision, so don't take that as a critical review. Loving your insightful videos, keep them coming.
Yes, the cloud pattern is also a key component of this image. Works well enough for a talking point but I won't be putting it to paper any time soon. I appreciate the comments: we're all on a journey of discovery and all opinions are valid when backed up with reasoning and explanation.
I liked that location Andy, not one along the East Coast I've been to yet, but added to the list now, I'm going to start vlogging again, been almost 2 years now and I've got the bug again and planning a coastal series. Thanks for the inspiriation you impart from your videos mate, from the messages, you have a positive affect on those that watch your craft. Steve.
So... i thought that image worked really well, but my attention was drawn in a very different way. I like sky - sky is big and gives us endless variety - so i went straight to the fluffy bits that rumbled off into the top-left distance. And then i did it again.... Eventually i spotted the post on the right side of the image (and briefly wondered what its purpose in life is). Nice vid, mon ami - cheers and all the best from NZ.
I imagine the posts are nautical markers as there's one at each end of the reefs. A couple of the posts are yellow so I assume these mark an entrance area. Dunno. My boating experience is very much river based where I don't need to know this. Were we talking photography? Hope you are well. Andy
The vert. sun reflection shot is really impressive. Your dark sky shot is not bad either. As you analyzed, the balance makes it work. A beautifully quiet picture. I really like it. Good stuff!
what a lovely beach, and that soft light was just sublime. we don't have much in the way of man made stuff on teh coast around here. so no groynes or marker posts to lend a little interest.
We have some very unhindered beaches further west really from Weybourne through to Hunstanton. I really should visit Wells and Holkham more often - miles of sand and pine forest. How's you, Nick? Hope you're feeling better. Andy
Hi, Andy. When you walk on the beach there is always a composition to be found. As you also show. sun's rising or setting are already two possibilities. I have to be honest, I don't really like these kinds of photos. But that doesn't mean they aren't beautiful photos. I find that minimalist photo of that pole an interesting photo. Fortunately, we all have different ideas about a good photo. How boring it would be if we were all the same. Stay healthy, friend. Antoine.
Walking on a beach and always finding a photo..... You know, I KNOW you're right, but I find it so hard sometimes and despite living just 500 yards from a beach, I so rarely visit it because I find it so difficult to get something new. Stay well, Antoine.
Andrew, wanted to let you know that I took advantage of the K&F discount code that you shared. I have been after some ND filters and decided to act now and get the discount offered 👍
I am not sure what a portfolio shot looks like if I am honest. Sure, I agree that this isn't, but what is? Thanks for watching and contributing. Take care. Andy
@@AndyBanner In my case it looks like the best of my best - something that’s not just competent, or even aesthetically pleasing, but is in some way (composition, lighting, storytelling, etc.) truly exceptional, and where I’m pleased to think (rightly or wrongly) that no one else would have taken it or processed it in quite the same way. YMMV, of course.
Image 4:47, I see the sky threatening the post and rocks. I would darken the sky in lines, like the fingers of the back of a hand. I would remove the yellow sign. Are these changes a step to far?
We all edit photos to our own tastes. I don't particularly notice the yellow sign but I guess removing it isn't a problem. I tend to draw the line at making changes to an image that fundamentally changes the scene. Cleaning up signs isn't an issue for me usually and I was aware of it (particularly when I was there) but I think it's quite inconsequential and when all is said and done, it's not a great image so spending more time on it isn't warranted. At least for me.
Yes I think it works
Thanks

Thanks, Nathan. Keep up the practice.
Your images have souls ! Thank you Andrew. 🙏🏽
Glad you like them! Thanks.
Certainly looks like it was a lovely evening, great images.
Yeah, certainly worth missing out on fish & chips!
Absolutely love all the shots in this one
Cheers, Mat.
Watching your videos is like going to a yoga class. I know the moves but always come away renewed.
Haha. Very clever association - I like that.
Lovely images Andy. Particularly like the one you weren’t sure about with the dark sky. Think it is indeed well balanced a very interesting shot.
Cheers

Thanks Steve. If you come up here, or are planning anything, let me know and happily to a colab.

Delicious what a feast for the eyes …. I really like the solitude of the individual marker, and the last one. Great to see you back on form Andrew.
Thank you! Cheers!
It works!!!
I also like the symmetry between the motion in the water and the corresponding movement in the clouds.
Thanks. I was quite surprised at how striking this turned out. It's the yellow markers that do it.

What Antoine said!!!!!👍
great walk and amazing photos - this is so inspirational - thank you!
Thank you.
You have the eye and the knowledge to put it together.Thank you for the know-how.
Kind of you to say. Thanks
It works for me! Nice shots, Andy. Just the inspiration I needed as I'm heading to the coast this coming week for a few days vacation. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks, Peter. What type did you get?
@@AndyBanner I have added 3 stop and 6 stop 100mm square filters to my existing CPL kit. I look forward to using these with my seascapes.
5:15. I agree that it works, and in fact had roughly the same composition in mind before you put it up. Not a portfolio shot, but a pretty good one.😊

I think you have a keeper there mate.
Which one do you think is best?
