"Yuppie" stands for "young urban professional" I am 52 Years old and have blown up rock and moved dirt most of my adult life. Never went to college. "Homesteading" meals self sufficiency, growing your own food, living off your land things like that. We don't do that and never claimed to. So basically your two word comment was wrong about eight different ways! Thats impressive
You couldn't be further from the truth. These fine people share a similar lifestyle as my wife and myself. I am the same age as Mike (52 years young) and am hardly "urban". In the words of Forrestt Gump "mama always said if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all". Your ignorant comment does nothing more than spread hatred.
Middle age man playing with equipment and showing off money he and his wife have, sorry Yuppie Homesteading was wrong then. I mean really what’s the point of your videos? you have a big gated house brand new vehicles, new tractor with all kinds of attachments, commercial log splitter. Are you guys really burning firewood in that house? Are you trying to show how to spend $40k to split firewood for campfires? Face it yall are rich and you try to act humble while you show off your money... Congratulations on your success in life but that’s the way it comes off to me
Love the tree falling at @5:26 ish. I have a ton of trees to take care of on our property, had some big leaners from the wind storm that fell down but still have others that likely need to drop
It seems Ms. Morgan brings sunshine with her. Your videos remind me of my time in the woods of New England. My family used to heat with wood, for years. God Bless you all
Maple firewood is of abundance in NH here. My wood lot consists of pine and maple mostly. With Oaks and cherry being rarer. I love maple firewood for my outdoor wood broiler. It heats nice and hot but and keeps a nice "slower" burn. I also love cutting it! My echo cs-490 loves maple and it blows through it and the nice white wood chips are sweet as well!
I get more Silver Maple delivered from the tree service and I love it. It cuts and splits really nice and when it is seasoned it burns really good in my fireplace or wood stove. It burns fast, but man I love it. No pops or sparks compared to Hedge. I wish I could get out and cut some wood. Everything is covered in ice. I am hoping by next week the ice is gone so I can start reducing all the logs. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm.
I have been celebrating my birthday so I am just now catching up on your videos. I was 80 on 02/11/19. So I will turn it around and say 11min. 20 sec. Love every thing you do.
I always enjoy your videos, and I definitely agree it is a beautiful day. We've had a lot of rain here in east Tennessee as well, so anytime it is nice out it is good to get out and cut wood or split wood. Get rid of the cabin fever.
Good video folks, lots of reminders in your video of the great products that keep you rolling along so well. Maybe you packed the ice on down to where it could thaw some and then the debris dislodged itself, anyway I'm glad for you that you didn't lose the dam . You'll get it fixed come spring. 7min-13 sec on the splitting ;-( not counting the set up time. Thanks for sharing the great day in the woods with you two and the dogs.
What a great winter scene! Like a storybook.....cutting wood, loyal and playful dogs, and Melissa showing up with her great smile! My guess......7min , 30 secs.
You're lucky you can see the leaves and lawn, we got hit with so much freezing rain here, there's about 4-5" of solid ice on my walkway. Roads near the sidewalks aren't much better.
Good job Mike. Everytime I go to Rural King I look for one of those still sharperners.! They're always out of stock! Must be a hot commodity. Nice shot of the sawhaul! Those things are nice ain't they!
Nice logs. It’s -32 Celsius here today. Was out splitting some green ash with my splitting axe. Some good winter exercise and the logs explode. Don’t need much effort when they’re frozen solid.
Hey Mike I use the same sharpening tool as you and keep a 2x4 or similarly sized limb in the Ranger to rest the bar on when sharpening. It keeps the power head flat and the bar is more stabile so the sharpening it easier and faster.
Mike/Melissa, your place is just beautiful. Having such lovely wooded land is a something that can only be dream, unless the lottery comes up.. Take care, best wishes from the UK
Was a nice sunny cold day here in Southern Mi. I was cutting White Oak today, had to get my big saw out (Husqvarna 385XP) it sure eats through the wood.
Hi Mike and Melissa. Beautiful day indeed. Here in So. Ca. we're getting rain, so I'll settle for that. As for the spitting of the maple... I'd say, 8 minutes, 21 seconds.
How's she goin'? You guys are truly blessed to have such a beautiful property and the equipment to use on it!!! Pretty nice set up!!! I think it will take about 7 minutes and 43 seconds. LOL
Today it looked like your saw was cutting at an angle instead of straight down through the log. Thank you for showing your sharpening method. I have used that sharpening tool, but I find it does not set my rakers low enough.
Mike I also have the rk37 and I have a root grapple from a local shop. The Rake shop out of DeLand Florida I really really love this thing it stays on my tractor 90% of the time second rake I've got from them
Time to split the firewood: 40 min. 25 sec. I was out in my yard as well this morning, also. I was cutting up some pecan and maple to turn on my lathe and also a piece of hickory. It was cool, but after I started working, it got much warmer. After all of that I turned a piece of hickory that was about 30" long and made a wood splitting maul.
When you fix the overflow on the pond, just a suggestion. 1) for the 90 degree at the bottom of the stand pipe use fittings and pipe that are at least 2" larger than the inlet, why, less chance of clogging. 2) instead of one 90 degree, use four 22 ½ degree fittings, why, larger radius on the 90 degree re-direction of the flow and less chance of clogging.
long sleeve shirt !!! I'm in. Let me know if I can order one? Love the videos, keep it up. The rain likely brought the pond level up, increased the pressure in the stand pipe and pushed out the clog.
Maple varies a lot, from boxelder which is only a little better than poplar to sugar which is slightly better than oak (though it must be processed green as it splats and decays much faster than oak). I think you were cutting some red there so slightly better than black cherry as firewood. I agree on the 4-5 minute guesses for splitting time; the machine can do it easy, just a matter of how fast you can feed it safely!
Thanks Mike, I have been enjoying watching you channel and learning good tips from your videos. I estimate that you could split the maple wood in 8 min and 45 seconds with your latest industrial wood splitter.
Mike, I believe you can split that in about 3 minutes and 48 seconds. I wish I spent the day in my woods today. I brought a face cord of wood into the basement instead.
hey Mike used to enjoy cutting and splitting a lot of wood can't do it anymore now I enjoy watching you do it I burn wood pellets nowadays how about 6 minutes 21 seconds
Another good tip for you, I am not a expert either by any stretch of the imagination but I learned from experience on this one. When I use a log pevey or log ox in your case I always cut on the handle side just so your dont pull the log and the pevey/ox over end! I had my pevey lifting up a log on a slight hill and i was on the non handle side and when I bit in with the saw it flipped over on me. Granted I wasnt in the best position but I noticed at the 9:10 mark that the log ox was creeping up a bit and that reminded me of what I did wrong! Anyways great video as always!
8:02 to split the wood. Honestly the biggest thing I've learned from watching your channel is about sharpening chain saws. I had previously regarded it as something approaching witchcraft, and then Stihl/Pferd came out with that tool and made it so easy a caveman could do it in no time. Not that learning about tractors and wood lot management and wood cutting weren't valuable, but I could have figured that out and handled it.
Usually once or twice a winter we get a foot or more, also normally our snow sticks around much longer. Been strange this year, ten days ago it was 5 -10 below in the mornings, five days ago it was 64, yesterday it made it to only 20
Hi there. I have an idea for another video. Maybe you could do a “tree felling 101”. Show us how, what to look for, and techniques that you’ve used that work well. Thanks!
Nice low cut. No waist. Any solid wood in that big stump in the beginning? I have old chains for flushing stumps. Lots of good wood gets left behind. 👍
I noticed that after you sharpened with your gadget you were cutting off to the right. I think it is time you learned to hand sharpen a saw. Let me come over there and show you how to sharpen a saw. You linked that Macolloch lover but you didnt seem to learn from him. You need to be able to make your saw cut straight. It would be a nice drive for me to cone over there from Ohio.
Those sharpeners are amazing but You should probably consider some half skip or full skip chains make life so much easier but you got to watch out for the kick this all might be old news to you but figured I'd share also check with bunker branding is an all inclusive designed printer retailer and distributer the owner Matt is a UA-camr he seems really cool and the company seems awesome
Thanks for the video Mike . That is "silver" maple "hard maple is an excellent firewood .y nest guess is that you will split that load in 18 minutes and 32 seconds !!!
Mike there is a lot of people on youtube that sells shirts hats hoodies and you and Melissa should try selling shirts and hats. There is letsdig18 logger wade and cotontop3 they sell stuff and ship usps with no problems. Great video really enjoy it. Have a great day and be safe
hi again another nice video. on the splitting there are about 35 pieces (rounds ) i think the splitter does about 7 sec cycle time . so about 4min . but it depends on you keeping up with the splitter . if we give you 3 sec to load each piece that then would be 10 sec times 35 rounds = 350 /60 = about 6 min . it is kind of like shooting the bullet will go where it is pointed but it depends on you making do it . get a proper count find out the exact cycle time do the math . and see how good you are . got to have times ,numbers to get the facts on the next video . all in fun love you guys and the dogs they are beautiful
fricknjeep the flaw in your figuring is that you are figuring only one stroke per round, but we know mike's customers like their wood split smaller so even with the 4 way wedge he will be resplitting the larger pieces several times.
Rounds??? Must be geographic term. We had trees which were round and logs were round and blocks of wood were round, but when the blocks were split they were sticks of fire wood. Just curious as to where the "round " term came from.
I think you need to have somebody fabricate you a hat much like a hot water heater vent cap that comes out of your roof but in a larger scale it may collect a little debris but it would not let anything get in your pipe,Maybe two or even 3 feet around. Just a suggestion thanks for the UA-cam content
Ok Mike, I know this may sound high but I will say 13 minutes only because you and Melissa havent teamed up enough on the splitter to get a good system worked out yet. I sure hope you have a tote cage that you can stack the wood into right off the splitter. I know those things are an investment, but sure saves on the number of times you're touching each piece of wood.
With your four way splitter you should probably go through that stack in 12 minutes and 32 seconds (provided Melissa doesn't interrupt things by bringing you coffee and donuts) LOL
Top of water overflow pipe needs a 180 degree Top Bend that goes back into the water this would stop the debris go into it and still drain at the same time and not freeze . P.S. it came to mind how a septic tank works, the pipe has to go below the grease line to get into the gray water to siphon into the leach field. As of for the wood 13 minutes after everything is warmed up and ready to go this includes your better half.
Yuppie Homesteading!

There are plenty of yuppie turned homesteader on UA-cam, however you came to the wrong channel Brian.

A Polaris , a wood lot,a Stihl,, sunshine, beautiful golden retrievers, and wife. Life is good. Thank you for sharing
Really enjoy your videos👍
I have been celebrating my birthday so I am just now catching up on your videos. I was 80 on 02/11/19. So I will turn it around and say 11min. 20 sec. Love every thing you do.
And it's nice to see all the PPE being utilized by Mike and Melissa. Setting a good example. Plus a Million!!!
Mike, I'd recommend putting a trash rack on the pond stand pipe to keep out the trash and debris.
I always enjoy your videos, and I definitely agree it is a beautiful day. We've had a lot of rain here in east Tennessee as well, so anytime it is nice out it is good to get out and cut wood or split wood. Get rid of the cabin fever.
That siphon system is great - saw it when you first put it together. Might have to make one of those for mine
Good video folks, lots of reminders in your video of the great products that keep you rolling along so well. Thanks for sharing the great day in the woods with you two and the dogs.
Those 2in1 sharpeners are awesome. Sharpens the chain to better than new. I've been using them for a few years now.
Thank you Mike for another lovely trip into the country side......👍🇬🇧
Good to see a woodman with safety chaps on! I feel naked without them!
Iz the log ox really over 260 buckz?! Light enuff to carry on hip?
Always a Fabulous Day when the Beautiful Melissa Shows Up !!!
What a great winter scene! Like a storybook.....cutting wood, loyal and playful dogs, and Melissa showing up with her great smile!
My guess......7min , 30 secs.

Check out Amazon ...German made ones cheaper and do job just as well
Nice logs. It’s -32 Celsius here today. Was out splitting some green ash with my splitting axe. Some good winter exercise and the logs explode. Don’t need much effort when they’re frozen solid.
Two persons split the wood in 4 minutes 48 seconds.
And the best stand pipes is they who fix them self! Have a nice weekend Morgan family.
Thanks Melissa and Mike, nice pond, any fish? Gotta love the pups
Yes another great video Mike
So thankful for your channel
The firewood videos are the best!!
Mike,
Glad to see the ponddrain is working. I'll guess 7:50 on the splitting.
Send that weather my way! Minnesota has been brutal the last few weeks!
Hey Mike I use the same sharpening tool as you and keep a 2x4 or similarly sized limb in the Ranger to rest the bar on when sharpening. It keeps the power head flat and the bar is more stabile so the sharpening it easier and faster.
9 min 36 sec on the wood splitting. Nice here on the other side of Pa too ! I'll be out splitting wood tomorrow. Thanks Mike !
Great video Mike and Melissa, it's always great to see the LogOX helping you get after it on your woodlot! #TeamLogOX
Have you guys considered bunker branding for your shirts? I can’t believe you don’t have snow anymore!!! I’m beyond jealous!!
Mike/Melissa, your place is just beautiful. Having such lovely wooded land is a something that can only be dream, unless the lottery comes up.. Take care, best wishes from the UK
Great video Mike. Glad you all are having your kind of Weather! I’ll guess at 6 mins and 24 seconds. Take care ya’ll. 🤠
5:30 seconds to split the wood. Thanks for another great video.
My guess for the time to split is 14 minutes 37 seconds. A great day to be in the woods.
Was a nice sunny cold day here in Southern Mi. I was cutting White Oak today, had to get my big saw out (Husqvarna 385XP) it sure eats through the wood.
I bought that sharpener from your video. I mainly do mesquite...so yea that thing is a time saver!
LOL
I been doing wood all day been really muddy tho love when the ground is frozen tho helps a lot
Today it looked like your saw was cutting at an angle instead of straight down through the log. Thank you for showing your sharpening method. I have used that sharpening tool, but I find it does not set my rakers low enough.
I’m taking a break from the cold for a few weeks, heading to Alabama tomorrow to go hog hunting, fishing vacation for a few weeks. Thumbs up.
I'm going to guess about 6 minutes tops. Man, next to your dogs, that LogOx is definitely man's best friend!
@Greg Hallums It's close, very close :-)
You got all the right tools for cutting firewood!
Mike I also have the rk37 and I have a root grapple from a local shop. The Rake shop out of DeLand Florida I really really love this thing it stays on my tractor 90% of the time second rake I've got from them
Love the pond. 11:45 to split that load.
Split the maple in 6 minuets and 22 seconds.
Thanks for all the great videos!
A sharp saw and a Polaris ….life doesn,t get any better than that ( Oh and a beautiful Shirt Model)
That bark was so smooth that that it looks more like beech than maple for much of the log.
Time to split the firewood: 40 min. 25 sec. I was out in my yard as well this morning, also. I was cutting up some pecan and maple to turn on my lathe and also a piece of hickory. Mike what kind of wood stove do you have? Could you do a video on it? I’d like to see where all this firewood goes!
long sleeve shirt !!! I'm in. Let me know if I can order one? Love the videos, keep it up. The rain likely brought the pond level up, increased the pressure in the stand pipe and pushed out the clog.
We have a lot of sycamore here in Ireland, excellent fire wood, goes rock hard if you don't split it straight away
Mike my guess would be 7 minutes and 45 seconds if everything goes good. Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
Maple varies a lot, from boxelder which is only a little better than poplar to sugar which is slightly better than oak (though it must be processed green as it splats and decays much faster than oak). I agree on the 4-5 minute guesses for splitting time; the machine can do it easy, just a matter of how fast you can feed it safely!
Those Retreivers are beautiful dogs.
15 minutes, including the midway break for coffee & donuts.
Hi Mike I think it will take 8:26 to get the wood split.
I think it'll take 4:42 seconds to split that wood. I love being outdoors like that, beautiful property you guys have there,
Split the wood, 7 minutes if your dong it, 4 minutes if Melissa does it!
5 min 37 sec
Thanks Mike, I have been enjoying watching you channel and learning good tips from your videos. I estimate that you could split the maple wood in 8 min and 45 seconds with your latest industrial wood splitter.

Thank you for another amazing video. As for splitting the wood my guess would be 5 minutes. I know you are good at using the wood splitter
You need a little PTO chipper. That would clean up the brush in a hurry!
8:02 to split the wood. Honestly the biggest thing I've learned from watching your channel is about sharpening chain saws. I had previously regarded it as something approaching witchcraft, and then Stihl/Pferd came out with that tool and made it so easy a caveman could do it in no time. Howdt fro western NC....9min 45sec, to split that load, great vids, keep it up..
Love watching those chips fly
14 minutes 13 seconds on the firewood. Another nice video Mike, keep it up.
Another great video guys , I'm guessing about 8m55s to split the wood.
Nice Work!!👍👊
Your snow comes and goes pretty quickly in your area. How often do you get a good snowstorm that brings a foot or more of snow?
Keep on tractoring!
Usually once or twice a winter we get a foot or more, also normally our snow sticks around much longer. Been strange this year, ten days ago it was 5 -10 below in the mornings, five days ago it was 64, yesterday it made it to only 20
The new shirt looks nice, your fashion model wears it well :)
Hi Mike it's 22 here in Ohio ( about a hour west of Pa.) I think about 9:36 to split that load of wood.
Great video I have everything there except the log ox 6min 30sec.

Thanks for the video Mike . That is "silver" maple "hard maple is an excellent firewood .y nest guess is that you will split that load in 18 minutes and 32 seconds !!!
That shirt is spectacular I got to get one for my wife and I just too see if we look that good in it hahah
Beautiful Day. I'll guess 6:45 by yourself, 5:05 with Melissa's help.
10 minutes and 35 seconds, Rob here in south central Pennsylvania,
Awesome splitter,
Have a great and safe day
Thanks for another great video ,,,my quess for time to split would be 8 minutes 12 seconds
Mike there is a lot of people on youtube that sells shirts hats hoodies and you and Melissa should try selling shirts and hats. There is letsdig18 logger wade and cotontop3 they sell stuff and ship usps with no problems. Great video really enjoy it. Have a great day and be safe
Great video Mike. I would say 9 minutes 32 seconds. Thanks for all the videos.
Hey Mike I think that maple pile with that splitter is a 20 minute job.
I love your 🇺🇸 Flag 🇺🇸. 10-15 minutes to split that wood.
I guess if you and Melissa hustle it should take you guys 11 minutes. Have a good weekend.
I like maple firewood but it does leave a heap of ash behind. I think that load could be split in 20 minutes max. And, I'd buy one of those shirts.
7m 11sec, thanks for another outdoor video.
Wonderful footage and editing!
hi again another nice video. on the splitting there are about 35 pieces (rounds ) i think the splitter does about 7 sec cycle time . so about 4min . but it depends on you keeping up with the splitter . if we give you 3 sec to load each piece that then would be 10 sec times 35 rounds = 350 /60 = about 6 min . it is kind of like shooting the bullet will go where it is pointed but it depends on you making do it . get a proper count find out the exact cycle time do the math . and see how good you are . got to have times ,numbers to get the facts on the next video . all in fun love you guys and the dogs they are beautiful

Hello Mike... to split that maple...I reckon 8 minutes 24 seconds buddy...
Top of water overflow pipe needs a 180 degree Top Bend that goes back into the water this would stop the debris go into it and still drain at the same time and not freeze .
