@@chrissiroisWhat dollar store do you shop at where you can buy a coffee maker? Unless you mean a store like “Family Dollar”, where it costs $15.00. Literally just been down the big B&M looking at kitchen gadgets and thinking “Barry has reviewed this and it’s not as good as it looks!” Thanks for saving me money!
Exactly. It's just a drip coffee machine, I bet you can get one cheaper. All it's done it showing that if you drip your coffee over ice instead of adding ice later, it gets cold by the time it has finished brewing. You can use this knowledge as a lifehack tho.
I had a coffee maker combo that was a single cup and a full pot maker in one. It broke. They sent me two makers. This one and a normal one. It's pretty nice for a single cup maker and I looked it up, it's only about $25 at my local shops, which is much better than a Keurig. If you use the pods, just cut the top open and put it in the basket.

9:40 As for the tea/tablespoon measurement: Tea/Tablespoon in america, australia and europe is different. I was shocked about it too the first time, I thought the whole world just agrees on spoon sizes but nope. 🤣😅
For testing the accuracy of the scale spoon, it would probably be better to use water, since volume and weight are directly correlated for water. For the paprika, volume and weight may not be directly correlated - it's really hard to precisely relate volume and weight for ground solids, which could be more coarsely or smoothly ground than whatever control was used for the google answer.
Hi Barry 👋 I love your videos, and I fully sympathise with your back issues. A couple of things that have helped me. 1 is a self heating back brace. I've actually had one of those 'lawnmower' vegetable choppers for years now. If I just quickly want to dice something finely, and I'm not too bothered by size consistency, then it really works wonders.
I would have cut off an end of the potato to have a more secure base to put on the base before pressing down. Including instructions with that first device would also have been really helpful.
Even still, I think the build quality was just pants. Mixing thin plastic and super sharp metal blades in a movable form factor like that is just asking for trouble. Dangerous trouble at that.
I've had a similar item in the past and it did the same thing it came apart and the blades came out. Personally I feel like if you have a need for a device like this just get a commercial type one. Plus it has the advantage of being able to get different inserts to cut different shapes and sizes.
I have the same item exactly, it specifically states to cut larger potatoes to a reasonable size. I usually like Barry's practical approach but I was a bit horrified at the ridiculous bashing to get the potato out. No wonder it broke! Barry, in order to get accurate grams in tsp and tbsp and such, then you have to scoop it into the tsp with something else and level it off. if you just scoop it with the measuring spoon and say all is good, then you are actually compacting the ingredient into the spoon, thus making it more grams than needed.
I used to have a string pull chopper similar to this and I loved it but one of the blades broke off. I replaced it with an electric bosch chopper, MMRO8R1GB and I love it. You just put the blade in the bottom, add the food, drop in the protective tray and then sit the domed motor on top and press it down to set it off. Even used it to make mayonnaise as the protective layer has drip holes for drizzling in the oil. The motor part stays clean and the two other sections wash easy.
Just sitting here watching another great and entertaining video from you Barry and I just remembered you were building a new kitchen and wondered about how that coming along?🤗
I think that with a bit of time we could get used to the new style. And having help with the recording was better for his health, it seems like his back is hurting due to the angles he is using to record himself.
I definitely like this style of video way better, and I don't see why Barry can't hire a cameraperson who is able to work this way instead of turning everything into imitation Food Network. Nobody was complaining that Barry had help - just that the new style of video made the videos less fun to watch. Handpull mixer is a favorite in my house, I make ground beef with mine, mince up most vegs, do nuts and just in general a really useful tool in the kitchen for me. Especially those times my wrists or hands hurts too badly to hold a knife safely
The iced coffee maker is just a regular coffee machine with a cup full of ice. You should make the coffee in a regular pot over ice and just see if it’s indeed the same flavour.
I honestly have been enjoying Cam being around, doesn't say much but works like a character in a game, when the camera's moving around it feels a little more like actual interaction rather than 1-on-1 with a camera on a tripod, and the bonus of helping physically! And these gadget videos always are such a curiosity to me, seeing what types of nonsense people come up with, and how much of it isn't nonsense at all!
We've had the Tupperware version of that string chopper for quite a while and it's great for chopping loads of things. Particularly good for chillies and garlic if you want to avoid touching.
For Peach Tea, what you want to do is make peach syrup, 1 cup water - 1 cup sugar - two thinly sliced peaches, first and then mix it with the tea. You'll have a lot more syrup than you need, but you can use it for a lot of stuff other than tea.
The quality of the videos you made with the previous Cam person was great, I am in the team OG Barry but I understand why working with someone is so helpful and good for you and some reactions were just nasty. I feel like the difference is when you do it by yourself your videos have that cozy, homey vibe. Like “I am in the kitchen with you, peeking from behind your shoulder”. The cam person shots and editing gave you a more pro/teacher-esque look. We have to admit a lot of people, myself included, fell in love with the former style. Maybe you can figure out how to include some iconic Barry moves. However, you will do what's best for you, your health and well-being, and your family. No matter what, I will continue to watch your hilarious videos. Lots of love ❤
We've got similar veggie chopper, though it's from Joseph Joseph, and definitely more robust! After many similar failed attempts, we found chopping the bottom end of the potato helps send it straight. Overall a great gadget for quickly making some chips in the air fryer. 🤙
With the chopper Barry, I think it always performs better if you wet the blades with warm water first. We have a similar gadget (although it's a longer one that you put the veg on the blade and then slam the lid down) and we find it doesn't work as well when the blade is dry
So that thing for the deep fryer is essentially a re-packaging of that Gelli Baff stuff they sell to kids? (Or as a luxurious relaxing bath aid for middle class women)
Been so long since I watched one of your videos! Went off youtube for a while and idk I guess I'm subscribed to too many channels that yours got lost in it. Glad to be back💜
To get rid of used fry oil easily. I just pour the oil in old butter tubs or milk jugs, then take to my local restaurant. It let's you pour in its collection containers to be recycled
Barry's hate for the air fryer is just endlessly amusing to me. Seriously, they've been around for years, A LOT of people I know have one, and personally, I want one. If they were actually just a fad, I'm pretty sure they'd be gone already.
It feels like the good old days though Barry. Hope Mrs Barry feels better soon. Love that spinner chopper thingy 😊 I need a good electric cheese grater because I have osteoarthritis in my hands. Any recommendations? Love your video, they always make us happy. 🧑🏻🍳
Oof yeah, I struggle with a regular grater too. I have a stand mixer that has a grater attachment option, but I've been worried to buy it cuz it looks like it won't do a good job.
My delonghi deep fryer has a drain plug, its easy to use. Let it cool down drain it into a suitable container, plug it back up wash with warm soapy water drain it out rinse and dry refill. You could have different oils for different foods
Coffee ground for filter coffee makers is ground very fine, I don't thing the wizzy grinder thing could grind it that fine, some electric coffee grinders struggle to grind fine enough. The coffee you ground would probably work in percolator or even a cafetiere because it would have longer contact with the water.
Miss this style a bit honestly, not because of the camera work, but just because it doesn't feel like Barry is trying his best to be a Food Network host, yanno hahah
Yes, that's exactly it. I can only imagine how much fun it is to test new styles but in this case a running and loved system might be better off staying that way or changing very slowly. People never love change haha. This being said I completely agree with other comments saying getting help is totally fine if not necessary for your health. It's just about maybe taking slower steps towards a new style and let's be honest. This was a great viewer servey. Now it's pretty clear what makes people watch. Obviously it's Internet so not everyone knows how to behave well. Anyway, please Barry if you should read this, take care of yourself, your health is the most important. ❤
Oh dear, Barry! If you had cut the top and bottom of your spud (for a small flat surface), you wouldn’t have broken your chip maker… 😘😉 You always make me laugh… as well as being a little frustrating at times. 😂😆😂😆😂😆 Keep them videos coming, they are great! ❣️🌹
You could easily hold that veg chopper tight in one hand then turn it upside down and sideways while pulling the chord. Make it into a full body workout and chop coffee grains more easily too. All the best to Mrs B, sorry to hear that she's sick.
The paprika probably absorbed moisture which made the weight off. I'm sure in the UK the humidity is high all the time vs where I live of an avg 20-30%.
I have one of those "chip maker"s that is basically just the top bit, and while useful I find it's just too small for most potatoes bc the potato always moves. I think something like that needs to have the guides on the side of the holder not the chopper (and also be built more robustly)
Hardly a drop in quality Barry, the lighting is better and it's way more natural. Absolutely thrilled to see it back to the natural Barry standard. A thought I had and wondered when you mentioned your back, can you move the camera back a bit so you don't need to bend over or is it ss my wife suggested the way it is so you can see the screen and see yourself?
If the measuring spoon wasn't calibrating the spices correctly, i dont think i would say its great and recommend it to people that need exact measurements....
I like this warm light better than the cold one your cameraman uses. This feels and looks more natural. :)

OMG I've missed the old style so much 💙
Oh dear, Barry! If you had cut the top and bottom of your spud (for a small flat surface), you wouldn’t have broken your chip maker… 😘😉 You always make me laugh… as well as being a little frustrating at times. 😂😆😂😆😂😆 Keep them videos coming, they are great! ❣️🌹
Absolutely love this video and I’m so happy to see the old style videos again as the recent ones just weren’t the same for me ❤
Hello from colorado Barry! Been loving this series for years
Hey! thanks
I always thought your measuring spoons seemed a bit big and I WAS RIGHT!!
With the ice coffee machine u need to put little bit of sugar
Loved the lawn mower chopper 👍Thanks Barry 🤗 ps hope Mrs B gets better soon 🤒
Yay, kitchen gadget testing! Whatever you decide with a cameraman or not, I'm here for you! Do reach out if you need anything!
Thanks a bunch
You could easily hold that veg chopper tight in one hand then turn it upside down and sideways while pulling the chord. Make it into a full body workout and chop coffee grains more easily too. All the best to Mrs B, sorry to hear that she's sick.
This feels much better, if there’s a way to keep this style and make things easier for you then I say do it. Much more personal
As a dramaturge I can say the comma on that box and the lack of a comma afterwards is all good :) thanks for another great video!
The paprika probably absorbed moisture which made the weight off. I'm sure in the UK the humidity is high all the time vs where I live of an avg 20-30%.
So just a cheap drip-brewer with a giant beaker to put ice in 😅😅😅
maaaaaayyyyybe lol
I have one of those "chip maker"s that is basically just the top bit, and while useful I find it's just too small for most potatoes bc the potato always moves. I think something like that needs to have the guides on the side of the holder not the chopper (and also be built more robustly)
that hand beater is good for making butter
Yeah I reckon so!
Barry, you should have either cut the potato in half or laid it down on it's side, it's made to cut short chips, not long ones
you should send that potato with the blade sticking out of it to a UK crafting youtuber to embed in a solid block of resin for a nice decoration lol
I've seen Guga use a manual food processor like that one. Good on whomever sent it to you.
So happy to see an original style Barry video again 🎉
Your Gadget videos Barry! You always find interesting and funny ones!😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I've got that ice coffee maker! It's brilliant!!
If the measuring spoon wasn't calibrating the spices correctly, i dont think i would say its great and recommend it to people that need exact measurements....
This is more like it. Best video in a while.
Peach ginger tea is my favorite. Usually it's a white tea. 😊
That Breville coffee thing is just a drip machine labeled 'iced coffee maker' :p
