The Teaching Story as collected by Idris Shah works miracles on the mind of a would-be seeker. Subtle differences in how actions are interpreted begin to unfold. I soaked myself in the teaching stories after becoming habituated to PD Ouspensky and George Gurdjieff. It was difficult to make myself read stories that did not have a chronological order or a logical order. However, after reading stories every day and night for 3 months I began to see how my interpretations were no longer in the either-or decisions. I don't know, understanding, became OK and multiple meanings was also OK. There is a great proverb about how to know the truth. The Sufi knows how to make the test. This lecture is profound because it points out so many details of our attachment to authority figures and our unquestioning of consensus. We agree with our "friends" with no questions because it feels good to be part of the crowd.
I am reading 'World Tales', yet again, but backwards this time from 'Occasion' onwards, just to keep my brain ticking over. My favourite story is 'The Faithful Gazelle'.
@@lucindahall3 Very glad to hear it. I am listening to the playlists on UA-cam. I can play them over and over and get new insights depending on what I have been doing. The Teaching Story works wonders.
