I unironically love the Trash Museum. I had to do a presentaation on municipal waste management in grad school. Part of my research was a trip there. I was literally the only person in there so I got a personal tour from the docent. It was tremendous

Spot on!! I grew up in CT, went away for college and ‘temporarily’ came back after graduating. I spent the next 3 years telling people, “I’ll be moving soon.” BUT, now that I’ve lived in Boston for 20 years I can appreciate the healthy skepticism we all have towards our home state. Up here, everyone thinks their town, neighborhood, street is the best place ever. I’ve met people who have tattoos of their zip code because they’re so proud. It’s over the top.

I would like to let the record show that I attempted to hike to the highest point in CT for this (our highest point is actually literally on the border, on the slope of a mountain that summits in another state) - but didn't make it far because it was a solid sheet of ice the whole way.

@@BobElHat Not exactly true, you kind of have to be from CT to know a bit about its history and the types of cool things it has to offer(few and far between, I admit). CT is actually a very pretty place in the late spring, summer and fall months. Once you get away from the areas Alex focused on, there are a lot of hidden gems in the state. Cool breweries tucked away in rural areas, very historic places, great areas for hiking, some very good restaurants if you know where to look. Despite being home to some very undesirable places like Bridgeport, NH, Waterbury, etc. there are some very tranquil, beautiful places in the state you can find plenty to like and do.
It’ll be much better in the summer post-pandemic. But one guy here was like “you didn’t show off the scenery!” And it’s like I went to most of the top ten most notable views - its not my fault it’s March.

Born in Essex and moved to Middletown. 12 years ago. This was a trip to watch spot in but you need to do a second video and add a mental hospital CVH in Middletown, The Warrens an the doll, Moodus noises or Devils Hopyard,,etc lol.
