hauled feed with these in ford L 900s (gasburner version of L 9000) back in the 80s . 2 sticks , 3 mpg , 4 barrel ,10 wheels , 56000 lbs gross . underpowered for this task , but they sure were tough . we ran 4 or 5 L 900s w/534s , and kept a rebuilt spare engine on hand at all times .
I ran a 534 many years on our property for an irrigation well pump . That thing would run 24-7 sometimes and never miss a beat at 1800 RPM. Ours ran on natural gas. Had over 10,000 hrs when we sold the property and was still running great.
Any engine running natural gas or propane is going to be clean as a whistle with very little wear. Oil changes are always necessary, but the oil just doesn’t get as dirty on those fuels. Aside from propane and natural gas not have the same energy per volume as gasoline, they are great motor fuels because of how clean they burn.
Would love to see one of these engines fixed up, some long tube headers, high rise intake, big 850-900 cfm carburetor, bigger cam, MSD ignition, good fuel. Would like to how much power these bad boys would put out.
By the looks of it and the sounds of it, it SOUNDS mean and POWERFUL, I WISH I HAD THIS ON MY 58 EDSEL CITATION, FOR IF THIS BABY DOEST GET THE JOB DONE, I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT WILL, 😁😉👌🇺🇲👍 MORE PLEASE.👌
I am looking at a 68 Ford F100 Super Duty. I figure it has a 534 under the hood. What can you tell me about them besides being a dog on gas consumption. Thanks
no after market parts.. if possi,, id raise the comp as far as posi., try find a cam for it.. it should have flat tops allready id say. better with a 460ci..
trying to fix my firetruck. any idea what the coil model number is on this engine. The engine is what I have but it is three states away and I need to buy parts.
then obviously you don't understand what the 534 is... the 534 would twist your f150 into a propeller so bad that you would never be able to close the doors.
Performance specifications SD-534 534 cu in (8.8 L) 4 1⁄2 in × 4.2 in (114.3 mm × 106.7 mm) 266 Hp (198 kW) @ 3200 rpm 490 lb⋅ft (664 N⋅m) @ 1800-2300 rpm. These are gasoline specs. Slightly higher rating on Nat Gas and propoane
@@daveb1081 I doubt it. I rebuilt a few of them in the late 80s and parts were hard to get then. To be honest, they are really a POS. Yea, they run for a long time but are heavy, fuel hungry, powerless hunks of iron. I have nostalgic respect for them but they are no work of art.
@@daveb1081 The one cool thing about those things is that you could turn the idle down so low that you could actually follow the 'Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow'. They would idle at 100 RPM...not that you'd leave it like that but you could turn it down to a crawl and it wold still run.

@jeromep That's nice.
It's a shame you totally missed the point though.....
That had to be one hell of an irrigation pump. That's awesome. Where was that?
Nice. I’ve got an old c850 with one of these. Mountains of torque.

theres no parts for them,, like the 9 1/8 diff..
@@harrywalker968 These things aren't made to rev up anyway.
HW ...............you sound like an old Ford guy ..........and you can make a 532 out of a 460 block and a 4.30 crank ...@@harrywalker968
Not enough to outweigh the 1400 lb weight.
That’s a hell of a power plant 🤙
Build a Randy Quaid lawn mower with it.😊

She seems nice and healthy.Strong, stock sounding, who cares the milage.Find a project vehicle for that bullit!😎👍✌🇨🇦
Very cool, i bought one this summer.
look at that huge water pump placed where you can actually get to it!!
Bolts straight into your tesla..
Found one of these today for sale with the transmission for $300.... I have no need for it but I kinda want it for something 🤷♂️
Did you buy it I would like to put it in my truck
@@MrScribe323 no but there is one for sale for less than 2k for the entire truck in Iowa
@@daviddenman7479 what type of truck and do you have the link I would like to buy it.
@@MrScribe323 Ford 880. Ad says the engine is bad, I missed that part. But here’s the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/292694029269162/
Buy it
Sweeet piece.
I need that
En Venezuela
Donde consigo una cámara de ese motor
Can the 534 bolt right in a 67-72 Ford F250?
How's that going for ya?
I got a 92f350 need new engine

What fire truck?
all std ford parts..
I have no practical use for this but I want one.
Imagine that thing in a mustang
orest they are a HUGE engine doubt they would fit without butchering the Mustang, and also heavy as hell, and slow speed torque engine !!!
I’m sure the engine can be modified, and if people can fit ls engines in a Miata, this thing can fit in a mustang
You'd be very disappointed. Low rpm torque engine. A 302 would be more fun in a light vehicle.
I like large displacement engines
Maybe in a truck then if it’s a low rpm engine?
Where can i get a cap and rotor for a distributor for one of these?
It's the same as all the other Ford engines.
o, rileys,,all same.. plus elec ig better..
Wie kommt man denn in Deutschland an sowas? Gerade als Stationärmotor? 🤯. Für was werden die denn gehandelt?
Voll Gas nicht? 😥☹
I can’t be the only one who is thinking about ripping that stupid 3v 5.4 l out of a 2004 f150 and replacing it with one of these.

@@haleyy68 interesting. quite a torque monster. do they still makes parts and such for these?

the only reason I'd get like a 534 Ford or 637 GMC is to display on a stand or something and run lol
