My 20-year-old daughter's been assisting at various farms during lambing every whitsun and easter since she was about 15. 🐑
This spring, she was confronted with a lamb that had its head up over its back, and had two siblings queued up behind it. Two veterinary students had given up on it and called for the farmer, afraid that the ewe would have to be euthanised. Daughter asked to try to deliver the lamb: she saved it before the farmer arrived. ♥

Shaun and Colin thank you for an amazing vlog. Your thoughtfulness of viewers and your compassion was definitely evident during the stillbirth, you showed such respect for all concerned and the situation. Those little lambs were adorable and the countryside is beautiful. Hope Colin’s medical issue has successfully resolved. Please pet Otis for me

Brilliant filming, being a farmers daughter I know all about the ups and downs of farming life, you have to accept the disappointments with the happy moments. Well done both of you. Take care. 💕🐾xxx

As an ex farmer i’m very impressed with your presentation of lambing. Well done with compassion for those that don’t lamb successfully yet not shying away from those facts and explaining to those uninitiated to farming life the processes involved.

I’ve farmed sheep for many years. Lambing never ceases to be a rollercoaster of joy and sadness, but the miracle of a lambing is a wonder. My favourite is always the noise a ewe makes when mothering up with her newborn lambs. 👌

I love it when I'm lambing on my farm how each ewe has her own special nuzzling call to her babies. It gets quite emotional every time, and I have been living on dairy and sheep farm's all my life.

I will never ever forget the spring day when we were in England I stopped to watch young lambs playing king of the hill on a huge bolder in a field... awesome, hysterically funny, beautiful... and, by the way, lambs don't run - they "sproing sproing sproing" all over the place...

    ❤️ Lambies!!! ❤️
This video took me back to my childhood. My folks had a farm with around 120 ewes, 4 rams, and one Border Collie. (central New York)
I got to see the good and the bad in those days. Was relieved to see that ewe give birth to the other 2 lambs after losing the first. It’s sad, but it happens.
Enjoy the lambs as they grow up and romp around the fields. They’re fun to watch. 😊

Once again, thank-you for allowing us to see and feel part of your lives. Your cheeriness kept me going through all the lockdowns here over the last couple of years and I'm happy for you that you have been self aware enough to recognise the need for change, and that you have the means to do so. A very sensitive touch with the lambing and the sadly stillborn. I learnt something though, I didn't know that lambs are multiple births, I thought they were singletons. There you go. That marks me out as a city girl ! Thanks again.

adventures and conversation. I have worked for more years than I care to remember as a nurse providing care to people at the end of their lives in hospices and their own homes. Been there and done that MANY times. Good on you for showing the reality of farming. I used to be like most city people who would have thought that was gross. Having moved to hobby farming with sheep and beef cattle, then onto commercial dairy farming, i never thought Id be one to find myself literally up to my armpit inside a cow helping her, but you just do it. Very rewarding when it turns out well and yes sad when sometimes it doesn't.

I have followed you throughout your narrowboating experiences and really enjoyed your triumphs and sad times. I love Scotland and holiday there regularly. I was married on a little island called Eigg on the west coast, it was wonderful and we stayed in a bothy with no mod cons. Wonderful x I support a wonderful place here in England called FARS (Farm animal rescue sanctuary) where rescued mummy sheep and their lambs thrive and grow together without fear of separation. It is a wonderful place full of love x So sad to know that these newborns will live 20 weeks max before slaughter. Maybe you could consider turning your place into a sanctuary for farm animals. Just a hopeful thought 😊
