Hello 👋 from Dayton Ohio USA 🇺🇸have. You ever seen A tornado 🌪 in person before I'm just wondering 🤔 💭 OK 👍 👌 🙆♀️ 🆗️ it was sad that all 4 boyscout campers who died during the tornado 🌪 warning ⚠️ in 2008 Rip 🙏 🪦 those 4 boyscout who died during the tornado warning in 2008.
I'm watching this in August 2019. A few days ago there was 2 mass shootings that have people on high alert in shopping areas or anywhere else you can find groups of people gathering. You can't help but feel that somewhere along the way the world has finally lost it's mind. You have kids inspired by other kids shooting up schools & each other. I think that's why watching this video made me aware of the good that still exists in our world . It comes at a time where many believe good is now extinct & something that's thought of in the past tense. The scouts & their leaders at Little Sioux should be acknowledged for their exceptional courage & bravery that day. You actually could feel a sense of calm they had in the midst of living thru a nightmare. My heart & prayers goes out to the families of those scouts who lost their lives. That being said, watching this gave me a renewed faith that humanity still stands a chance at survival. There's still good left in the world sometimes you just have to look a little harder for it, but if you ever need a quick reminder & some proof of it just watch this video. Believe me, you will get a lot more from it than learning about how to survive a tornado & the aftermath.
I think we are exposed to the problems of the entire world every day, all day and some tragedies get more attention than others. This constant 24/7 bath of negativity affects our nervous system, and mental health. Read history books, and you’ll see there has been mass murder, famine, plague, wars..... we ironically live in some of the safest times, and in the safest part of the world. But the TV doesn’t want you to believe that. I think humanity will endure when we turn our TVs off and have our neighbors over for dinner, and talk to old people again. I’m glad this video restored your belief in humanity. YES, there is still a lot of good in people. There is still hope, love and kindness in the world. If it is in us, then it exists. Peace to you.
I was in boy scouts at the time at summer camp in Indiana and we got word of this tragedy, we lowered the flag to half staff and had a moment of silence for the 4 scouts and their families, never will forget.
Even though 4 scouts didn't make it in this I have to say I am proud of all of them for what they did for each other during this tragic time my brother joined the boy scouts in iowa he had put everything he learned into reality after my sister fell off her bike in wylusing and almost broke her nose
I was a scout at BSA Camp Cedars on the Nebraska side of the river when this hit. Was absolutely terrifying and we knew we were in for a long night when the clouds turned green and began to swirl. My troop was nearly ready to throw everything in vehicles and get out after the shelter they put us in had live wires hanging out of a fuse box. Was an absolutely insane day and a very dark next morning.

Coming from a 12 volunteer disaster responder these young men did admirably. They got up, checked themselves and their teammates and got to work doing what they could, triaging and attending to the wounded till backup arrived. These are the kind of people i'd be happy to have at my side on deployment. Also props to the scout leader on his work teaching these young men and his triaging of the situation as well. Not easy to find you lost someone then quickly move on to the next victim for alot of people.

Hey everyone, as a lot of you are saying to get shelters. I can safely say, there are two shelters, both reinforced with 3 layers of concrete and steel rods. I used to work there and they are all very resilient.
This is heartbreaking. The boys had such close bonds, they were spending their time preparing themselves for events such as this and then they loose four of their friends. I can’t imagine the devastation this children went thru
Tornado occurred on the day I graduated high school. Although the tornado happened a few hours after the ceremony, and halfway across the country from where I live (Easton, Pennsylvania).
I was a Girl Scout, and watching this just made me cry. A little, it’s terrible that they had to die in something like that. I was a Girl Scout when I was about 12 or 13, from South Carolina originally. Then when I was 15 I encountered my first real tornado. I mean I’ve encountered tornadoes before but nothing that could compare to El Reno 2013. I was staying at my aunts house, my aunt and my mom and dad had went to a Walmart in a different county, I was out of school for the summer thankfully and I had asked if I could stay at her house to watch some TV and she said yes that would be fine. Little did I know around 3 PM or some thing like that an EF5 tornado would actually literally rip her house apart. My mother called me from the county she was in I could hear the fear in her voice. Because apparently they had switched over to emergency broadcasting. To warn everyone that is going to El Reno to stay out of the way, I remember that because I’ve never heard her so scared in my life. She told me my aunt said to grab the cat get the cat carrier from the garage because the cat it was a kitten grab a blanket from her laundry room and go outside to the cellar, and at the time I did not know why she was giving me those instructions. And then about five minutes after I sit down the EAS come on, and at first because I’m from South Carolina I thought that it was the Cry Wolfe affect. Then it came on again about 10 minutes later saying you need to be in your tornado shelters right now because it was a live voice I actually realized the gravity of the situation before it actually hit. So I grabbed everything my purse my jacket and my shoes and the cat and I ran outside to her storm cellar and as soon as I got out the door? I stood right there and to my right I could see it. What looked like a big gray cloud was this monster tornado and as soon as I got into the cellar it hit directly. Like I had about 30 seconds at most to get into shelter. I just remember looking over and it was about two or three streets away. And then boom there it was. So all of my skills were put to test. Survival skills as a southerner and as a former Girl Scout. Because as soon as I got out of the shelter after everything was done and over I started helping look for people. But then I got sent to a hospital I was not injured (maybe it wasn’t a hospital I could be wrong) because I was a minor. And for some reason they did not want me to be alone or get injured without my parents. It was about 12 to 14 hours before I seen my mother again. I have never seen her so scared in her life. She had five kids before me, and she was definitely the most frightened I have ever seen her. She was just happy that I was alive. And thankfully I was not injured. Can’t speak for other people but as soon as I realized it destroyed 2 elementary schools my heart just dropped. It made me feel really bad. But I couldn’t help it. I wish I could have though. So the Camp guy is right it is not some thing that you can easily forget.Especially knowing that people were killed in something like this. To a lot of people? That may not make any sense but you have to experience it to understand it sadly and I hope that you don’t. But hoping is not some thing that will change a thing in mother nature‘s wrath.
Ive been through 3 hurricanes. Katrina, Charlie and Irma. Had a house torn down with 1st hurricane. 2nd no water or electricity for a month. Last one couldn't even get out my house (blocked in with no electricity or water for 2 almost days and have 4 kids)
Dona Lyn that's a pretty tough go Dona, seen hurricane Michelle, Wilma, Charlie, + 10 others, love Florida, those darn hurricanes I had enough, move back to Pacific Northwest. I'll take my chances with the big one.
I’ve been through way too many hurricanes to think of. I guess an unfortunate perk of being born and raised in Louisiana. I’ll take hurricanes any day over tornadoes, at least hurricanes are known about in advanced
I worked with Dr Crabb who was a main scout leader. This happened a county over from the hospital I worked at. Our paramedics, fire and police went to assist with this disaster. Horrible day.
brittany perkins Doing something like this would give you a medal for bravery. As previously mentioned by someone else, you aren’t promoted to Eagle Scout but rather you earn it
They don't promote, that would kill the whole idea of working to become an Eagle Scout, but they did receive medals of honor which would help in their Eagle Boards, Boy Scout btw.
It breaks my heart hearing about young people being killed with this tornado it just breaks my heart my condolences to the families that lost their loved ones I Know What You Know video but when you watch it feels like it just happened today really sorry my heart breaks for the families
No parent should have to bury their child. I can't imagine what they went through. God bless those scouts who jumped into action. Gentle hugs and prayers for all.🙏🙏🙏
I was at the scout ranch a few years later. 2011 maybe?? There were still trees down everywhere along the path, but there were already new sirens installed and a memorial where the Red shelter was. I'm not remembering if they were building, had built, or planned to build new shelters, but I feel like there was some sort of plan in place.
I was at a summer camp in the Ozarks (1960's) when a small VERY powerful twister was coming near us in late afternoon and we and our counselors just stood like idiots in front of the dining hall watching it. It passed a half mile away and flattened some barns and homes.
i worked with a young guy who had been there for that. he had a terrible time every time we'd have a thunderstorm. total panic. felt really bad for him.
My condolences to the young boys that were killed my God the government needs to supply everyone with storm shelters that are safe and made just for tornadoes
Joe Framo , I was thinking the same thing . The government isn't going to come out and actually build it , but they can give the funds to the people that live there . That to me sounds like a great idea .
I used to work at camp little Sioux after the tornado hit. They had built 2 storm shelters, thinking about a third to add at the lake. It's surreal to think that this is aired on the weather channel and you know and worked there
@@madisonceradsky406 thank you Madison for your texting me back I appreciate that you have a great week ahead of you thanks again your best friend from Atlanta Georgia
I reported the rotation, took some pictures and hurried back to our farm NW of Little Sioux to call the weather service and local Tv stations. I told my wife to go to the basement and I went to the front porch because I thought the main funnel would pass slightly north of the house. My wife joined me on the porch as all heck broke loose .Rain, hail, tree limbs and power lines cut the visibility to near zero as a south east wind suddenly switched to the west and then north west. We saw the shadowy funnel in the field north of us. Since we had no power we did not know of the tragedy NE of us. The wind destroyed half of a center pivot and left the rest intact. Had the tornado moved a half mile north or south those boys would have lived.
If my son was a scout and I found out the Boy Scouts owned a camp with absolutely no tornado shelter available to my son or the other Boys, he would never go there.
I absolutely agree. Recently I read a news story about a trailer park that notified residents shortly before a severe tornado warning that they would not open the building that they would normally go to during a tornado. I was absolutely shocked. What evil people could do this? What’s worse is that they won’t have any repercussions because they are grandfathered in by some law. Just evil monsters.
I live in Sydney Australia and never get tornadoes. I have always been interested in them though. My condolences to family and friends who have lost their loved ones in tornado destruction
I remember when this storm happened. I was about the same age as the youngest boy who died and it hit me so hard that it hit so close to home. Can’t imagine how much paint their families must have been in😢
I wonder what the chances are of a tornado forming in that town and running right from one scout camp to the other. I mean, that's unbelievable that it formed there but add the fact it destroyed both camps is incomprehensible
I joined the girl scouts Because I wanted to learn useful survival skills like this but they only ever taught us to braid and make friendship bracelets so I quit.
Looks like the background music from 7:15 onwards up until 9:15 is different. I don’t remember hearing it from the original airings, especially the rock music. I don’t think it fits perfectly with the sequence. In my opinion, I enjoyed the original soundtrack that played during that sequence.
Iowa has some weird weather! Don't get many twisters! We're kinds on the outer edge of tornado alley though! My condolences go to those families who lost there loved ones! Im surprised they didn't have a shelter in that cabin not like its not above sea level and could of installed one
God those poor boys that didn’t make it 😔 I can’t imagine how the parents must have felt when they got word. 😢 but I almost got misty eyed when the boys started calling each others names. So sweet.
The tornado/storm is the power of God but 4 fatalities in this horrific disaster is the mercy of God. Looking at the flat buildings can’t help but to think God is awesome and so loving, thank you Jesus for your mercy and grace
I love ❤️ tornadoes 🌪 I saw a funnel cloud rwise 2 one at school I was looking out school windows I saw clouds spinning all of a suddenly there a announcement saying there was a tornado warning ⚠️
I’m a Florida-based guy, so there is no underground shelters. Florida doesn’t get big tornadoes like the one that hit the Little Sioux Ranch. I bet Florida probably has some storm safety.
I never went to girl scouts, i still wish i did but i was to busy to do it. [i was swimming and my childhood wasnt the best.] im always so impressed with scout kids. they have really good skills.
@@forthefunofit3230 Yes, God allows bad things to happen, even to children. Natural disasters are part of what is called "time and unexpected events" or being in the wrong place at the wrong time"-Ecclesiastes Chapter nine, verse eleven. But these children were still protected by God because all of them have the hope of being resurrected and they will live in a world where all the earth's natural forces will be controlled and never be harmful to humans again-Acts chapter twenty-four, verse fifteen, Luke Chapter eight, verses twenty-two to twenty-five. Please look at these verses in your own copy of the Bible. Look up the additional references to learn more information about God's love, why he allows bad things to happen and what he will soon do to end all suffering.
I was in Philmont in 2015 and I remember the story of the deadly flash flood. That was a hard morning. Also, I remember this episode from when it aired and some of the music is different now. 7:13 the rock guitar is in poor taste.
The families of the four deceased scouts were never seen. I suppose that makes sense, given the enormity of their losses. Must've been very hard indeed. I hope they found support.
This particular tornado dispelled a few long standing myths. One that tornadoes don't go over hills/mountain's and two tornadoes don't occur in valleys
Thaink god he’s ok 👌 at least 1. Survive. In the tornado 🌪 4 kids died in a tragic tornado 🌪 so sorry 😐 for the pArents who lost there. Children. Who died. In the tornado 🌪 Sorry For your lost
On the way to my girl scout troop's first camp trip, it rained the hailed ( on moms new car) then that night it snowed on us. Normally it would would bother others but in Tennessee snow special....Even if it's in April.
Its really something that everyone is pointing fingers "they should have had this should have had that". Does everybody forget that tomorrow is NOT promised??? Not every place you're in will be completely safe from harm. The lesson you should learn from this episode is to be grateful for what you have. Appreciate every single day and get yourself right with God so that when it's your time you will receive salvation. This stupid BS of shoulda woulda coulda is insanity
Too bad “being prepared” didn’t include the BSA from installing a decent storm cellar since they knew the camp was in tornado alley. Perhaps they couldn’t afford one since all those child sexual abuse lawsuits are so pricey.
When they said the scouts started calling names out of the kids coming in wrecked me. I love that they have that close bond and care enough to keep looking after eachother instead of just focusing on their own survival.
The scout leader is a hero for trying to keep the door shut to protect the scouts

I saw the funniest clouds ⛅️ spinning near my house 🏠 but the tornado 🌪 didn't touch the ground it was back in October 8 2021
When the dad told the story of the scouts saying their names I was just in tears.
Same I was sad bit didn't cry 😢 😭
Tornado occurred on the day I graduated high school. Although the tornado happened a few hours after the ceremony, and halfway across the country from where I live (Easton, Pennsylvania).
wow
Then do we really need to care
This sad 😔 rip 🙏 🪦 for the 4 boyscout kids 😢😢😢😢
I remember that day we were coming back from Wisconsin and we just missed being part of another tornado near Spencer Iowa.
May those 4 boys scout rip 🙏 🪦
Though and prayers 🙏 for the scouts victims that there sons that died during the tornado 🌪
I love this video because the story always won't be forgotten of the survivors will tell you the story :)
I’ll take hurricanes any day over tornadoes, at least hurricanes are known about in advanced
and didn't bother to LEAVE!!! and now welcome dorian
Glad your OK 👍 👌 🙆♂️ after you whent througth 3 hurricanes 🌀
My family got hit by that same storm system near Parkersburg, Iowa. Such a sad week in the Midwest. The damage was horrible to witness
I experienced several severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings that week too. I live in southern Wisconsin not Iowa though.
Wasn't this tornado over a mile wide?
@@sethcourtemanche5738 yeah it was, it was a very scary experience
Who the hell built the campsite in tornado alley without a storm cellar?
AJ Muzik the vast majority of both homes and places in Tornado Alley do not have any kind of a storm shelter.
I have a question for you have you ever seen a tornado 🌪 in person. I’m just wondering lol 😂
AJ Muzik me
First, mind your words. Second, people rebuild after a tornado and might add a shelter AJ.
exactly
I worked with Dr Crabb who was a main scout leader. This happened a county over from the hospital I worked at. Our paramedics, fire and police went to assist with this disaster. Horrible day.
I am praying for you and you got my ❤ love
I hope those 2 brave young men who saved the ranger and his family were promoted to Eagle Scouts. They deserve it!
Matt Gam You don't get "promoted" to Eagle Scout. You EARN that through many steps. It's earned.
Kathy Young well saving a life seems like a sure fire way to earn it.
brittany perkins Doing something like this would give you a medal for bravery. As previously mentioned by someone else, you aren’t promoted to Eagle Scout but rather you earn it
They don't promote, that would kill the whole idea of working to become an Eagle Scout, but they did receive medals of honor which would help in their Eagle Boards, Boy Scout btw.
crazy how quick a beautiful house becomes rubble
it says the tornado hits
*rock music starts playing *
Maybe they just want to show the force
Hey Jim, it’s Myles from the weather channel with Me, Liam, Olivia, and Anna! You’re a really good commentator! I LOVE IT
?
Thank you. I enjoy these stories so much.
It breaks my heart hearing about young people being killed with this tornado it just breaks my heart my condolences to the families that lost their loved ones I Know What You Know video but when you watch it feels like it just happened today really sorry my heart breaks for the families
I remember This day 08 is when I graduated and this hit home to me I'm an ex boyscout
My mom & I started to tear up when the scene that they did that little role call happened because that's what they did with the Broncos
My thoughts and prayers for all who have been affected. R.I.P to the 4 boys who lost their lives. God bless you.
Def time for a modern storm shelter at those camps. Important.
My condolences to the young boys that were killed my God the government needs to supply everyone with storm shelters that are safe and made just for tornadoes
I wouldn’t trust a tornado shelter furnished by the government.
Joe Framo , I was thinking the same thing . The government isn't going to come out and actually build it , but they can give the funds to the people that live there . That to me sounds like a great idea .
Bonnie Brown were over a trillion dollars in debt at what point would they give billions
That brought me to tears when they were calling out to each other
Yes shelters needed for sure
most definitely!
They now have two shelters 1 shelter is a little ways from where north cabin was. The north shelter has steel reinforced wall with concrete.
I live in Sydney Australia and never get tornadoes. I have always been interested in them though. My condolences to family and friends who have lost their loved ones in tornado destruction
I remember when this storm happened. I was about the same age as the youngest boy who died and it hit me so hard that it hit so close to home. Can’t imagine how much paint their families must have been in😢
2:02 I remember this tune on my first cell phone! It was a ringtone!!
I wonder what the chances are of a tornado forming in that town and running right from one scout camp to the other. I mean, that's unbelievable that it formed there but add the fact it destroyed both camps is incomprehensible
conspiracies are just great stories No, it isn't unbelievable at all. Tornadoes are totally unpredictable, and these things happen all the time.
I remember this well. Although I lived in Indiana and still do, it received much news coverage. It was really hard to watch and listen too.
I joined the girl scouts Because I wanted to learn useful survival skills like this but they only ever taught us to braid and make friendship bracelets so I quit.
Yeah I joined but quit cause all’s we did was act like dummies and sell cookies.🤦🏼♀️
I’m got lucky where I live girls can join “boy” scouts except it’s just called scouts, exactly the same as the US.
Yup, braid things and sell cookies. It was all about selling cookies and making that money.
Fortunately girls can join the BSA now too! (I have nothing against Girl Scouts; it’s just a totally different program.)
Looks like the background music from 7:15 onwards up until 9:15 is different. I don’t remember hearing it from the original airings, especially the rock music. I don’t think it fits perfectly with the sequence. In my opinion, I enjoyed the original soundtrack that played during that sequence.
Really don't know why I'm watching this after being huddled in my bathroom because of a tornado warning last night...lmao
This is the saddest thing I. Thus storm stories that all 4 boyscout that. Died during the tornado 🌪
Rip 🙏 🪦 all 4 boyscout kids 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
😢😢😢😢😢
Iowa has some weird weather! Don't get many twisters! We're kinds on the outer edge of tornado alley though! My condolences go to those families who lost there loved ones! Im surprised they didn't have a shelter in that cabin not like its not above sea level and could of installed one
God those poor boys that didn’t make it 😔 I can’t imagine how the parents must have felt when they got word. 😢 but I almost got misty eyed when the boys started calling each others names. So sweet.
8:20 I think this tornado has had a bit too much to drink...
I remember in 1 vid about this tornado they said it formed on the hill & it used the momentum to destroy both campsights & I think the house too
I’m a Florida-based guy, so there is no underground shelters. Florida doesn’t get big tornadoes like the one that hit the Little Sioux Ranch. I bet Florida probably has some storm safety.
They also covered this tornado on *_Tornado Road_* !
They are hero them two that saved the family. They all are hero to each other's.wow
I never went to girl scouts, i still wish i did but i was to busy to do it. [i was swimming and my childhood wasnt the best.] im always so impressed with scout kids. they have really good skills.
Rip 🙏 🪦 for all 4 boyscout rip 🙏 😢😢😢😢😢
God is love
so much 'love' he let 4 boys DIE needlessly!!!!!
So “SS202” means “Storm stories: Little Sioux Tornado?”
it means storm series episode 2
Omg Omaha to Little Sioux is 45 minutes, I would’ve been there in 15. That would be so hard 😭
I live in an tornado alley and we get lots of storms
Oh OK 👍 👌 🙆🏻♂️wacth out for tornadoes 🌪
I was in Philmont in 2015 and I remember the story of the deadly flash flood. That was a hard morning.
Also, I remember this episode from when it aired and some of the music is different now. 7:13 the rock guitar is in poor taste.
I love ❤️ tornadoes 🌪 and I love 💕 storm ⛈ stories and may those 4 boys scouts who died from the tornado 🌪 may. Those kids Rest In Peace 😢
Added now
The families of the four deceased scouts were never seen.
If I was a parent of these kids I would beat you
Spoilers!!
On the way to my girl scout troop's first camp trip, it rained the hailed ( on moms new car) then that night it snowed on us. Normally it would would bother others but in Tennessee snow special....Even if it's in April.
11:25 is that a f-250?
15:59 “we have reports of Tomatoes attacking Boy Scouts”
😢😢😢😢😢😢
There needs to be a requierment in tornado-prone areas like Iowa for reinforced shelters at all summer camp, etc facilities!
This was local news to me .. Very horrific
Too bad “being prepared” didn’t include the BSA from installing a decent storm cellar since they knew the camp was in tornado alley. Perhaps they couldn’t afford one since all those child sexual abuse lawsuits are so pricey.
4:40 Nice old Federal Signal Model 5 or 5T
Lets not ignore the fact that 20 days before this, an EF5 tornado struck Parkersburg Iowa
Parkersburg was a beast.
