Im glad that through reading this i know its more than possible to save my pets in the event this or some other destructive event happens to me. Unfortunately what happened to this dog is all too common, but that is what we are taught to do even as kids - but as someone who treasures their pets (and some of whom that have risked their well being to protect me) i couldnt fathom leaving them behind for any reason.

Well that was awesome of you to run back and get your cat. I love animals myself and have had 2 Pitbulls and I've had my Noble Macaw for 26yrs now. My bird and I have a real special bond but I will not lose my life for my bird. I would've went in the basement and if I couldn't reach my bird then I will pray she lives through it. Like I said my bird is 26yrs old and she is family and love her more than any other pet I have ever had or will have but I like breathing air and it would suck if she died but my life is more important. You might think that's wrong but a human life is worth more than a pet. I think most people would agree with me but most likely not you since you said you would die with your cat.

@@froey198033 nah I'd risk my life for my cat. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If you read the comments in this video a lot of people are really peaved off that he not only left an 8 week old puppy but his friends too. But legit I think a lot of people would risk their lives for their pets. 🥰 There are some who won't and that's okay I guess. It's just that when you don't the people who would question why you wouldn't. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But no judgment here because self preservation is a full-time occupation. 🥰

@@froey198033 there are 2 types of people when it comes to animals and saving them. There are people who realize that all life has value and a pet is not only your companion but your responsibility. They have no choice in who they are forced to be with unfortunately. So we take on a duty, just like a child, to protect and care for them. I, and many many others, are that type of person. I will give everything I have to protect my dog because she is reliant on me and I love her.
Then there are people like you who believe they are superior to all other life forms. They believe that human life has the most value and will choose themselves over any other living being. They believe that animals are there to be owned then abandoned if shit gets tough. That's fine if that's the type you are, but don't pretend that most people are like that or would agree with you.
I don't know what every person would truly do in the moment, but to know ahead of time that you will definitely just leave them on their own is definitely concerning. There's a certain level of empathy that some people just don't have and those people will agree with you. Even thinking that, much less saying it, would make me feel like the most horrible person. But hey you do you 😉

That’s a pretty big butterfly effect. If that ball hadn’t gone into the hoop, then the game wouldn’t have into overtime, thus wouldn’t have kept people in the dome for longer, probably preventing hundreds of thousands of injuries or even deaths. How terrifying is it to think that our lives are meaningless and there is no God? When we leave this world, there is a whole other life waiting for us. Many people will perish and go to hell but the children of God will live for eternity with him with no more sorrow or pain. Heaven and Hell are very real places. Our souls will go somewhere when we die. Only way to Heaven is to believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to ask for forgiveness of our sins and repent. ❤️

    • @pisces2569
      @pisces2569 5 років тому +20

Kaderin Wroth A person reacting in fight or flight mode does not make them a coward or anything else. Not everyone can remain calm in this kind of situation. When you are in fight or flight mode, you don't think. You react on instinct, and that's exactly what happened. PJ suddenly found himself in danger and didn't know what was going on except he had to escape it. Once he was out of danger, he was able to think and went after his friends. He was smart to leave his dog. PJ isn't a trained SAR personnel. He doesn't know how to safely look for his dog in a collapsed building. For all he knew, it could have come down on him and his friends anytime soon. Heck it could have been unsafe even for SAR personnel, and human life trumps animal life. However, he did not abandon his dog. He found firefighters who are trained to deal with this kind of situation and begged them to rescue his dog which they did. It's completely unfair to judge him for his actions, and for all you know, he could have died if he didn't make the choices he made, making him useless to his friends and dog.

He left a precious puppy and 2 ladies to fend for themselves. I'm not leaving a woman behind for sure and that poor puppy. I understand panic makes you do things you might regret later but a man should not leave his friends like that.

I remember that night. Terrifying. I had been visiting Atlanta for the Georgia Aquarium that day and decided to stay the night at a hotel before getting back on the road in the morning to head back home to Jacksonville, Florida. This had been my first solo trip by myself since I had just turned 24 the previous month and that was a big step for myself since I was only a little small framed female and my parents were still a bit overprotective. I had called them and told them the weather looked bad and I was staying put and what hotel and room number I was on my little flip phone at the time. I went to bed and was awoken by the tornado. Oh the wind! It was HOWLING. I turned the tv on to see what was going on and my room phone rang. It was the front desk telling me to get into the bathroom or hallway since there was a tornado headed right for us! I panicked and hung up with them and used that phone since my cell phone didn’t have service anymore and called my dad since I knew my mom’s cell was having issues with reception at the time. He answered half asleep and I told him that this might be it for me and the hotel was about to be hit by a tornado and they I loved him and my mom. I told them my cell had no reception and I needed to get into the bathroom since my window was cracking before it broke completely sending glass at my face. Thank goodness for glasses! I left the phone off the hook and ran into the bathroom and hid in the tub with pillows and blankets. My ears popped a few times. I came out to a trashed room with a broken window and my parents screaming for me on the phone. I told them the room is trashed, that I couldn’t stay there, that I was getting dressed, and I would meet them on I 75 in Macon. I did just that. Fortunately my car was fine since I was in the parking garage and was shielded from the storm by two huge SUV’s that decided they want to park next to me, that happens everywhere I go; something huge always parks next to me, I got into my little 5 speed Toyota Corolla and hit I-75 after checking out. About 20 mins of being on the road and seeing emergency vehicles speeding up 75 NB I get my reception back and I call my parents who were on I-10 acting like it was the Daytona 500 with my dad behind the wheel. They had already gotten pulled by FHP and given a warning on going too fast after they explained to the trooper that their only child just went through a tornado in Atlanta. I ended up meeting them at the Georgia Welcome center on 75. My mom drove my car home since I was exhausted and the adrenaline was wearing off at that time. I fell asleep in my dad’s car on the way back. They didn’t take me to my place and actually brought me back home that night. The next morning I noticed the glass from my hotel window breaking ended up scratching me all over my face, neck, and arms. However no lasting scars. That was one of the most terrifying nights of my life! To this day I can’t sleep when severe storms rip through at night, especially Hurricanes since they cause tornadoes.

You hear hail hitting the house all the same time you hear thunder and lighting. To top that off your house is violently shaking and glass is shattering all around u. A tornado is one scariest things u experience other than a hurricane.I was in a tornado when I was a kid it struck at 330 in the afternoon. One of my classmates was sucked up in the tornado it carried her 200 feet. She was way to young to die. I hope that paints you a picture of what it's like.

This is natural human behavior. Not everybody is calm or rational in the face of disaster. He is not trained to deal with a situation like this. Yet despite that, he went back for his friends. He wasn’t unable to save the dog then because the building was unsafe, but he did not abandon it. He begged firefighters to save his puppy which they did.

PJ was simply in fight or flight mode. In addition, human life trumps animal life, and none of them are trained SAR personnel who know how to safely search a collapsed building. He made the right decision to leave his dog. He did get actual trained SAR personnel to rescue his dog so he didn't abandon it.

If PJ and his friends started moving debris around they could trigger another collapse, or the building could just collapse further on its own onto them. This could kill them or severely injure them making them useless to help the dog. It was better to escape and find an expert to rescue the dog.

Did "the dog" have a name? Is it really the guy's dog, or is it one of the girls' dogs? Was he looking after "the dog" for someone else? I find it hard to believe that "the dog" is his with how much he refers to the dog as "the dog."

I went in to a construction project on Monday after that tornado and saw that column reinforcement steel, #11 rebar (1 3/8 inches thick) from some of the footings had been bent from vertical to a forty-five degree angle. The windows had been blown out of a stairway at a parking deck across the street.
Many windows had been blown out of the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel, and since the codes had changed and the glass was no longer available, all the glass, even the undamaged panels, had to be replaced.

That bent rebar on the footings must've been hit by some heavy ass debris or something. Maybe the winds could do that, but at 135mph or less, that seems unlikely.

Some man. Leaving the women behind. They always tell you to STICK TOGETHER in emergency situations. He wouldn't be my friend after that. Also his puppy would be mine. Hope PJ realizes that any future employers will this and k ow he cannot be depended on in an emergency and probably won't hire him because of that, especially this day and age... they needed people level heads not man boys who run at the slightest hint of danger.

I am too much of a dog lover as someone who previously helped with raising several litters of puppies from 10 to 24 years old until they were 8-10 weeks old and off to their forever homes, to leave a dog in that situation. Call me stupid or irrational, whatever, I am going to risk the building coming down on me while searching for the dog. I could never leave my black lab or any of the dogs I helped raise or even roommates dogs I lived with previously.
