    thank you, you saved me, I was considering updating my 3200 to 4400 but wanted to see the difference in 4k since i'm playing only 4k. Glad that I saw your video and i'm definitly sticking with 3200

    I love how the biggest difference is from 2666 to 3200 because I have 3200mhz memory in my system right now, but it's being limited by my motherboard to 2666mhz, but I'm planning a motherboard upgrade that'll handle up to 4400mhz so that it'll be a little more future-proof, and I get a 'free upgrade' while I'm at it since my memory will be able to use its full 3200mhz speed finally! :) Thank you very much for this video. It was actually incredibly informative and helpful in my decision making going forward.

  • @sevbait

    Thanks for making this video, what I take away from this is: after removing other bottlenecks, the RAM bottleneck is totally alleviated above 3200mhz CL16. The spread between that one and the higher bins seems to suggest mostly minimal improvements, but they do exist. I just bought some 4400mhz CL19 ram from Patriot, going up from 3000mhz CL16-18, and thanks to this video I KNOW I am going to gain some FPS (and probably some smoothness?).

    In this type of test, it would be very useful to see average gpu usage through the benchmark.
    The reason is high speed ram is only useful when you are cpu bound. If you are hitting 99% usage with 2666 ram there is no need to test anything, as there will be no difference.
    It is very different when you enter low GPU usage scenarios. Though this is hard to quantify because they usually happen on multiplayer games or with poor optimization.

  • @AsiaAziatics
    @AsiaAziatics 3 роки тому +1

    Remember that the higher the resolution it is not CPU bound it's GPU instead. Having faster RAM at a lower resolution will benefit more because it's CPU bound and not GPU. It's a trade off on resolution to performance balance.

    might be handy to know for people that are going to buy ryzen 3rd gen: 3733mhz cl17 is the sweetspot for performance because beyond this it switches to a so called 2:1 mode that massively increases latency.

  • @gregharder2765
    @gregharder2765 6 років тому +3

    The lack of difference between 4133 and 4400 is due to the GPU being the bottleneck at that point. As GPUs surpass the Titan V or 2080ti, that's when you'll see 4400 provide better frames than 4133. If this test was performed with two or more cards, I'd bet you'd see that proven immediately.
    Higher RAM speed can be worth it if you plan on keeping your system for a number of years and only upgrading the GPU.
    At 144hz, I'd rather have the highest speed I can run on my motherboard.

    • @Globespy
      @Globespy 6 років тому

      @@Globespy I'm sorry to say that the evidence doesn't back your argument. The Titan RTX is as fast as a RTX 2080 ti in gaming. They trade blows in benchmarks, stock and overclocked.
      The test this video is performing would be much more interesting if it were performed with a pair of NVLink RTX 2080 ti or Titan RTX in games that support the use of multiple GPUs.

I’d rather a more stable frequency quicker than a faster frequency that’s responding slower. Interesting stuff, like you said you just gotta put it all together and I’m sure(limited-no experience) but you’ll get varying results with subtle changes to the numbers!

    Most stupid benchamrk I have ever seen. Putting settings to ultra bottlenecks GPU, therefore it doesnt test CPU/Memory ram differences as these doesnt matter while ur GPU is bottlenecking.
