Very good advice, Silver Dragons! I have built a 6 month emergency fund in fiat, and a significant shtf cash reserve that’s immediately accessible. Cheers for financial literacy!
it happened to me , I sold some of my silver to a local coin shop when I needed some money to pay some debt that I did not to expect to pay right away! so that to me is a big failure because I lost some money that I paid for that silver! I sold 250 ounces of silver that time and I did not get the money that is close to what I paid for for that silver! I guess the best thing is not to spend most of your cash to buy silver! keep some cash always ready to use in case of emergency!
I had to sell some of my silver and gold numerous times unplanned to pay off debt and/or to get out of a financial jam. That really sucks but fortunately I never had to sell all of it and start over.
As a stacker I just don't get it about those poured silver pieces. Cost is way over spot, nothing is uniform, weird weights, odd sizes, it's just not for me. If Central banks stacked silver this would not be what they buy.
You bring up some incredibly important points hear. I always try to get the cheapest silver I can, and keeping a safe amount of cash on hand is extremely important! One always has to be planned for the expenses life can throw at them. Keep Stacking!!!

Most of the community member made stuff is far to expensive! It‘s hard to sell their ... „pieces of art“ in Europe because buyers do usually not pay premiums for such pieces. Even worse if they are not assayed/hallmarked. A lot of PM traders or refineries in Austria do not buy such silver rounds/bars without drilling holes into it. Even if I love this pieces I do usually not buy them because it is so hard to sell them.
ProjectAsylum54 Absolutely fine! I am a stacker and I am not emotionally attached to my stack. This is the reason why I do usually not buy items with numismatic or emotional value. Coming from a coin collector, I feel buying any silver is better than none (depending on price). With coins, especially modern ones like the Australian lunar series, S.A Krugerrand and so on I buy mostly for the design aspect of it. The 2019 Cook Island Atlas coin is just gorgeous.
Hey Dragons. Merry Christmas. I trust you and family are are all well. I have enough silver, don’t even have any desire to buy more. My best guess on my DCA is $25. Some silver I paid more , some less. I have never sold silver on ebay , some tell me it’s not a problem some say it’s a big pain in the A**. My biggest concern right now is wondering if I ever will recoup what I paid for the 1200 Silver Shield Proofs and BU’s I have purchased all with COA’s . I do see on eBay most of the S.S. Strikes with a huge price being asked, are the sellers getting these asking prices? I wish I knew. I have retired inPuerto Plata for 2 years now, the only bullion dealer here loves the S.S. Strikes I showed Him but don’t want to buy them or any other silver coins I showed Him.
So its a collector coin market, you need to look at ebay sold listings, not just what buyers are asking. Looking at sold listings some are selling for a decent price. You need to look at the costs of shipping, insurance, fraud and ebay fees when selling on Ebay, Fraud being the customer states they didn't receive the coin you said it was and ebay giving them their money back from you, meanwhile they can keep the coin as there is no way to prove to ebay that u sent them the coin you stated, nor that they sent you back the same coin. It sucks. No dealer will buy them at the price people buy them on ebay as they need to sell for a profit. Best to buy well recognized bullion. Not mass collector pieces.
Chuck’n Plata you can check the sold prices on eBay. Look on the drop down menu. You should’ve or be able to see what they have sold for. And Merry Christmas to you too brother
Rod Z Absolutely, might be better to sell them now as the economy still is cranking on and some may be willing to pay premium on collector , low mintage or just silver unique and desirable to them.
I think the libertad is ment to keep pace with changing spot prices rather than putting a face value on it, on the ase that has only $1.00 FV is in my opinion, I'd rather see at least a $5.00 on it
Great video! I always keep a minimum of 1,500 to 2,000 in my checking account for emergencies as you stated. Believe me, I want nothing more than to keep adding to my silver stack, but wise thinking prevails.
I used to keep a large amount of cash in a safety deposit box but I now keep it in a separate account at my credit union, they pay monthly dividends. I actually make enough from my monthly dividends to buy several ounces of silver.
If I were to buy at spot or less and pour my own silver do you think I’d be able to sell that same piece at spot and turn a profit or it most likely be sold below spot? Thanks!
I own mostly Numismatics that cost around $210usd per oz. I needed money quick and sold some on eBay for close to what I payed or 10% more.(broke even) The best part of owning them is they look amazing.
I only buy when i have some spare cash ie bdays and xmas etc ( most would bot even bat an eyelid at my " stack " lol under 20 ounces ) i don't class myself as a stacker i just pick up the odd piece i see and like but i do know that i will not sell them any time soon as i would sell my other collections before my silver purely because silver is my fave lol
Yeah, it is the ultimate fail. I had to sell 1/2 or more of my stack a few years back when I lost a great job. It hit me right in the feelz, I’m almost back to where I was but few things hurt as bad as buying at $18.5 and selling at $15
2 of the 3 Germania Allegory rounds I bought have milkspots. I almost bought a 25 mark, the 5 ounce one for about $400. I'm glad I didn't, I stopped buying *all* .9999 silver and I now only buy American Sliver Eagles, junk or constitutional, and generic rounds and bars. No more high premium collector rounds, maybe ever.
Gold Stacking RCM developed a process they term Mintshield applied to all Silver Maple bullion from 2018. Does it really work? Not sure. I have a couple of 2018 SM tubes, no spotting yet.
I see the Britannia bar as beautiful for a small premium. 5 oz Libertad and 10 oz Britannia bar are sovereign minted but do not have a face value. So they are not currency just sovereign minted- not generic.
Good day. Stacking silver eagles and other gov minted coins. .9999 - .90% 40% and 35% Just prefer gov backed silver to generic rounds or bars. Will accept any silver but pay for the types I like. It should be easy to sell more so than generic bars or rounds. In the event of SHTF .
agreed. after finding milk spots on some of my high premium collector pieces I am now exclusively buying US minted silver and generic rounds and bars. I guess some poured pieces too, those are hard to pass up sometimes.
You might want to mention that the reason 90% silver coins are called "junk" is that it's coins where the dates, mint marks, and condition aren't numismatically collectible and the value is just the silver content in an easily recognizable form.
I stop by the local coin shop and ask what he has that is on sale? Normally discolored 1 oz silver bars or rounds slightly under spot. I buy about $100 worth on each visit. To me 1 oz is 1 oz no matter the look.
*FOR THE RECORD* I sold the skull & Slacker bar to SD *at spot* simply because that is all it is worth. I wasn't broke (not by a long shot) did not "need" the $. I sold for less than paid, YEP! Honestly, I was tired of looking at it. Instead, all the $ I've into Silver is and has gone into the *proven winner* which is GOLD. A shift from more of one asset into another.
So many things to buy so little time. Haha. Everyone has their own strategy for stacking. I personally look for deals when I buy. Example: I went to LCS today intending to buy maybe $10 FV junk and a 10oz bar. I ended up finding a dump of BU 64 Kennedy’s that I bought for $13 face. I bought all 64 of them. Look for the best deals you can find. If I don’t find anything special I just buy little bit of junk! Some days are better than others. Keep stacking friends!
SilverSwitch176 yeah if you are stacking with an open mind and are only buying the deals then you can lower that DCA for sure. Stack on and Merry Christmas my friend! 🔥🐉
I’ve recently found it very difficult to sell any of it. Even under melt. I’m not going to give it away lol. I’ll melt it all into a big ball, throw it in the yard and let ugly dawg play with it. 😂🤣😂
Silver Mac Hey Mac, merry Christmas. For what it’s worth, I had 2 guys who pour silver ( who’s names I should have noted ) we’re talking about what they were paying for silver purchased to melt. I believe it was 59 or 69 cents over spot. I told them that a LCS in Wisconsin told me they would buy one ounce generic.silver at 50 cents under spot. I mentioned that I would be leaving the U S soon and not be back for 1 year. I received 2 offers to buy silver from me at spot. I did not sell any as I was flying out in 3 days. I am sure you know others pourers, possibly some would make you a offer. Be blessed my friend.
What you "should" be stacking is entirely dependent upon "why" you are stacking. Until you've decided "why", you really can't determine "what". I think you're correct in that buying any Silver is doing it right in a basic sense. Any Silver of any kind is better than no Silver of any kind. I view Silver as money, and I buy Silver specifically for hard times. In that sense, anything that carries a significant premium is wasted purchasing power, as Silver is going to bring only the Silver price during hard times. It's only going to bring the collectible price during relatively good times. Having said that, I have nothing against those who like to try to be clever by timing markets, flipping, etc... In the short term, they may increase their purchasing power. Those are folks who just aren't as risk averse as I am, which isn't necessarily a wrong way to be. It's just a different person who has a bit of a different perspective and is more comfortable being further out into the area of risk than someone else like me. Regarding your reserve, I agree with you 100%. However, I also slowly build a sellable Silver stack, which I don't count as part of my main stack. This would be primarily low or no premium circulated Silver, mostly 90% Constitutional, and then old circulated and or badly toned/tarnished rounds that are selling at spot. I've been stacking for more than a decade, so my sellable Silver stack was getting quite big, at 110.5oz. During the fall, I had several emergencies happen all at once, at the same time I had major bills coming due. So my son's private school bill of nearly $6,000 was due, I had a terrible $3,700 car repair, and then I had a major roof leak develop in my house all of a sudden that ended up necessitating a new roof that cost just over $6,000. So because I'd been building up my cash reserves for quite some time, I actually had enough money to pay for all of these things...but JUST BARELY. Because the dollar amount was so close to my amount of savings, and I was going to be writing large checks that I couldn't afford to have bounce for any reason, I decided to finally make use of my sellable Silver. Really, I was just doing it to pad my account, but I was really excited about doing it because I'd never sold ANY silver at all, and I wanted to see what it was like to let some go and see what I was able to get. I sold 73oz of Silver out of my sellable Silver, so that my actual Silver stack didn't get touched at all, and my sellable Silver is still available to me at 37.5oz. It was awesome! I was able to put $1,278 back into my account, and I had full confidence that I had plenty of money for all of my expenses. Then I went out and bought a few quarters and dimes for under spot and threw them back into my sellable Silver, while adding 4 Silver Eagles and 1 Philharmonic to my actual main Silver stack. I keep $600 of emergency cash in each of my vehicles. The cash is weighted toward smaller denomination bills, just incase power is down and/or ATMs aren't working. So I have one $100, two $50's, five $20's, ten $10's, thirty $5's, and fifty $1's. I keep that with a $300 reloadable gas card from a widespread local convenience gas station outfit where I live. They have more than a dozen locations within 1 hour of my work and my home. Then I keep a $300 reloadable gift card to a big box store like Wal-Mart / Target in each vehicle as well. I also keep multiple $10 gift cards to multiple (i.e. at least 6) fast food restaurants, 8 clad quarters, 4 modern dollar coins, 1 Morgan dollar, and 1 Silver Eagle. Then, I keep additional cash weighted toward the $50's & $20's but including all denominations in my home. The money itself is in a few fire-retardant pouches that are themselves kept in a fire retardant bag, which is kept in a fire retardant briefcase. Oh, and the money in the pouches are seal in plastic inside the pouches. I'm not where I want to be, but I think 3 months of living expenses is actually what people should shoot for. If that's not possible, then pick a lower target and shoot for 1 month's worth of living expenses. Ultimately, I'd like to get to 6 months. You never know when you might lose your job or when the economy might tank as in 2008 or worse. And who knows, it might be when the economy tanks that you're one of 600,000 or 800,000 people that ends up losing their job in the first month or two of the disaster. Having 3 to 6 months worth of living expenses around in cash that isn't locked up in the bank isn't going to do anything but help you. That's my overly verbose and detailed twenty-two cents on the matter. Good video!
Call me crazy but 6 months of living expenses is a number I'm comfortable with. Having said that. I wanna drop 10K on silver eagle mini box 2020 and 5 1oz pamp suisse gold bars. N a couple other small bars. What do you guys think? Should I do that and buy little by little throughout the year or just do little by little starting now?
when buying in bulk like that just make sure you are getting a good deal. spot dropping after a big purchase hurts but if you get a good deal when you buy it softens the blow a little.
Richard Sanchez there is no reason you shouldn’t be able to buy a monster box for $2.25 over spot. I would keep the whole purchase under $10,000 to avoid any imperial entanglements 😂🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 that's actually what they're going for now about $2 and change over spot. And yeah the whole purchase is under 10 just under it but it's under
@@SilverDragons47 also I'm watching another one of your silver eagles videos does the year matter 2016-2018 they seem to be more expensive the older they are why is that
I used to be able to buy a lot of coin silverware but then the spot price of silver jumped up and now everybody wants to sell their scrap for more than it's worth or people are just up buying to supplement their scrap pile😏. I like to supplement my pile but not pay more than 10% below spot because you're not going to get that much out of it if you refine it. 😊👍
Stack ASE/Maples/Libertads/Brits...then generics...then fractionals...then collectibles....then junk....rinse and repeat if available at all to buy or as premiums drop on coins.
I avoid any poured or non-north American bullion. if you go to you LCD and want to liquidate, they are not happy to take poured or unknown bullion coins. Eagles anybody will buy it. Your poured stuff is nice, but no retail in our area do to the verification required to ensure it is what is stamped. Eagles no questions. I hope you mean, $100 bills sitting in the safe/vault.
I think the big mistake is to buy everything just because you really like it. Unless your favorite thing is a plain old silver bar that is. I think most of what you buy for stacking purposes should be as low a price as possible and should be something you really couldn't care less if you sold it or not. Now of course a person can't be an android and just buy boring stuff, so do buy some things you like. Stackers are not coin collectors.
J.Howard J right I was most def a numismatist before I was a stacker... this is not the droid you are looking for... move along 😂 great point my friend! 🔥🐉
Buying silver sucks. A 1 OZ Pt coin stores 1000 USD of wealth in a coin smaller then a silver coin. Try and stash 10 000 grand worth of silver and you will have 31 LBS of metal which is impossible to put in a safety deposit box. it will be very hard to stash in your house. 10 000 Of Pt can be stored in the same space as 10 Oz of silver rounds.
@@SilverDragons47 Perhaps the best coin to stack, 12g each coin of silver 835/1000, 10g of fine silver. 10coins 100g, 100coins 1kg... It s as your old coins in USA, there s plenty in France, and you can find it at the perfect silver price, not more. Thanks for yours videos. I am doing a poker set with some french silver coin ; 1francs semeuse argent/5francs semeuses argent/20 francs turin/50 francs hercule argent. A good way to stack :)
Stay away from poured silver, generic bars and rounds. If you have to sell you will take a bath. If you sell in case of SHTF I one will give you any more for your poured silver pieces. No way to prove it genuine or its silver content.
BC it’s easy to prove with specific gravity testing. I can do it in 1 min at home easily. either way if you are stacking for SHTF then junk is the silver for you 👍🏽🔥🐉
Only 100 Oz Bars? Why not 100 Pound Bars? Not only do they make for solid investments, but you can bench press them and save big on gym membership dues.

Gold Stacking RCM developed a process they term Mintshield applied to all Silver Maple bullion from 2018. Does it really work? Not sure. I have a couple of 2018 SM tubes, no spotting yet.
gary so far it has worked for me as well 👍🏽🔥🐉
I see the Britannia bar as beautiful for a small premium. 5 oz Libertad and 10 oz Britannia bar are sovereign minted but do not have a face value. So they are not currency just sovereign minted- not generic.
JustDanO right backed by the government but not with a FV... same with the krug and others 🔥🐉
Reshtarc oh yeah all good options my friend!! 🔥🐉
My fellow silver connoisseur and dragon I want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Chur-hu and stack on brother.
Silver Taniwha thank you so very much my friend and Merry Christmas to you as well! 🔥🐉
You might want to mention that the reason 90% silver coins are called "junk" is that it's coins where the dates, mint marks, and condition aren't numismatically collectible and the value is just the silver content in an easily recognizable form.
Do you wait to the price of silver goes down prior to purchasing or are you more concerned with what you pay over spot?
Dustin Bringle price over spot is more what I look at. I can’t control the spot price 🤷🏽♂️🔥🔥
Great vid when u get ready to unload the white lion just holler!
Silver Stacker Mike thanks! 😂😂😂 I’ll probably just sell it on ebay 🔥🐉
What about stackin copper?? With advancing technology. Green energy maybe copper out perform gold and silver.
The Tree People 777 copper does take up a lot of space is the only thing... we will see! 🔥🐉
If Selling when don't want to is the biggest Mistake to make the yes 3+ months of food and bills money is the only way to prevent it.
I stop by the local coin shop and ask what he has that is on sale? Normally discolored 1 oz silver bars or rounds slightly under spot. I buy about $100 worth on each visit. To me 1 oz is 1 oz no matter the look.
Stacey Frank that is a great way to do it! gotta get those sales! stack on and Merry Christmas my friend!! 🔥🐉
I think you should be current on your bills before you start stacking that was one mini made now iam on track
Hobo Stacker yeah most def gotta have those finances in order! 🔥🐉
Centuri Sil Via thanks again for the great deal I love the pieces! 👍🏽🔥🐉
Merry Christmas Baggins!:)
Tere 79 Merry Christmas Tere! 🔥🐉
Staking for years, no profits yet
francis mcdonnell maybe no profits but you have a good savings account i’ll bet 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 yes in my bank
JM 100 oz bars hold a bit of premium when you sell, ay my LCS at least
Derf yeah some of the 100 ouncers do have a massive premium... I want one of those JM-Mallory bars so bad 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 I have one. Got it when spot was around 14 bucks. 75 cent per oz premium but it works out better than generics when selling
Only stack the items displayed on the Silverfish VT channel.
Grey Fur nice way to do it 👍🏽🔥🐉
As with everything you buy, buy what you like.
silvertrucker oh 100%! 👍🏽🔥🐉
Silver Mac 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I wanna play with it 🔥🐉
What you "should" be stacking is entirely dependent upon "why" you are stacking. Good video!
veritasfiles yeah it is true that the reason you are stacking should be the deciding factor in what you buy.. Merry Christmas! 🔥🐉
a man's best friend is his silver, the second is gold and third a gun to protect 1 and 2.
@@johnm1008 for sure. I think I'm paying like 3 bucks over spot for the silver eagle mini monster box n 38 I believe for the gold bars 1 oz
Ehren Krause great point my friend!!! my refinery only pays like 80% spot 🔥🐉
I got the white lion . It’s a nice coin
Robert Sovich that is awesome! are you collecting the whole series? 🔥🐉
Since You’re Silver Dragons What Do You Like More Silver Dragons Or American Eagles ?
steelersjourney11111 lol ASE for stacking and Dragons for collecting 👍🏽🔥🐉
Wonderful video, very informative. Thank you! Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Wolfie Olin thanks so much my friend and Merry Christmas!!! 🔥🐉
I hope you mean, $100 bills sitting in the safe/vault.
richard c yes I do mean have your fiat in your safe... Eagles are my all time fav thing to stack of course 😍🔥🐉
I stack sovereigns I flip collectibles. Often $10+ profits per coin.
Diversified portfolio silver, gold, IRA, savings, and stock market.
10 000 Of Pt can be stored in the same space as 10 Oz of silver rounds.
find some "semeuses 5 francs argent", a cool coin
David Rinpe i’ll keep my eyes peeled 👍🏽🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 Perhaps the best coin to stack, 12g each coin of silver 835/1000, 10g of fine silver. 10coins 100g, 100coins 1kg... It s as your old coins in USA, there s plenty in France, and you can find it at the perfect silver price, not more. Thanks for yours videos. I am doing a poker set with some french silver coin ; 1francs semeuse argent/5francs semeuses argent/20 francs turin/50 francs hercule argent. A good way to stack :)
The Ultimate Fail is to not stack Silver at all. Clad is Rad, but not ideal if things turn bad. Merry Christmas Silver Dragons!
No gold is better, more compact.
SM Kay you can say that again! Merry Christmas! 🔥🐉
$1000 fiat is a good start. I prefer $100 bills instead of $20 bills as I'm not tempted to grab them up.
I prefer 200 half dollars over a 100 dollar bill
Elysium ALL $2 BILLS 😂😂😂🔥🐉
Silver is more like hobby or hedging your funds and it’s not really an investment
Stay away from poured silver, generic bars and rounds. If you have to sell you will take a bath. If you sell in case of SHTF I one will give you any more for your poured silver pieces. No way to prove it genuine or its silver content.
BC it’s easy to prove with specific gravity testing. I can do it in 1 min at home easily. either way if you are stacking for SHTF then junk is the silver for you 👍🏽🔥🐉
I buy from BGASC. They have a good selection..
timothy chack that is awesome! stack on my friend! 👍🏽🔥🐉
Only 100 Oz Bars? Why not 100 Pound Bars? Not only do they make for solid investments, but you can bench press them and save big on gym membership dues.
Daniel McLaughlin 😂😂😂 I think the biggest you can get is 70lb bars (the massive ones for industrial use) 🔥🐉
Love the QB
