  • The Polaris Slingshot has a lot of wind turbulence in the cabin and will require additional speaker pods to properly hear your choice of music while driving. These fiberglass rear deck humps have been converted to house 6.5" coaxial speakers add provide much needed rear fill to your audio system without sacrificing cabin space and can be heard nicely while driving. These pods will simply replace the factory ABS plastic deck humps that came stock on your Slingshot.

    That's the easy part. Now, how do you run the wires from the head unit to these speaker pods? A video on that would be truly helpful.

      They're not designed to run to the factory head unit unless you have a newer model Slingshot that offers a rear channel with speaker plugs. If your Slingshot has that, then there will be plugs underneath the rear deck humps that you can plug into. If you have those plugs, you'll need these: www.slingmods.com/polaris-slingshot-ssv-works-speaker-pod-wiring-harness to integrate the SSV pods into the speaker plugs.
      If you're Slingshot does NOT have 4 stereo channels, than those plugs will not be underneath the rear deck humps. In that scenario, these pods are only intended to be used with aftermarket amplification.

      Hello Reginald, these are intended to be used with aftermarket amplification. You'll need to fish the wires down through the plastics near the rear storage compartments and run along the sides of the vehicle.

      Do I remove the rear abs cover above the rear wheel?

      Hello Kenneth, you'll need to loosen or remove the panel underneath the rear deck panel to access the area where the wires poke through from the rear deck humps. I then ran our speaker wires down the sides of the interior floor pan and up to my amplifier outputs.

    What speaker can I put in there and are they water proof

      Hello Kevin, these pods are intended to house 6 1/2" speakers. The pods themselves are indeed waterproof and completely air tight. You'll wanna make sure you run "marine grade" speakers to keep your speakers from getting damaged.

    Why not offer these in carbon fiber? Curious? I'd hate to remove my carbon fiber behind the seat rear deck humps.

      Hello Lloyd, we absolutely love carbon fiber.. but carbon fiber stuff just didn't sell well for the Slingshot. We're actually blowing out all of our remaining carbon fiber stock now and will not be re-ordering the majority of those parts. Thanks for the inquiry.

    You don't have to take the two white parts off.

    How do they sound?

    • @Slingmods
      @Slingmods  7 років тому +2

      Hello SJFTV, they sound fantastic and are solid fiberglass construction, so no wall flex on mid bass notes. It is quite possible that SSV may do away with the lower side pods and only make the front kicks and these rear deck pods moving forward with the release of the new 17' model pods.

    Umm you forgot to wire them

    • @Slingmods
      @Slingmods  4 роки тому +1

      Ahhh yeah i knew we missed something. Lol. We didn't wire them because they're not for use with the stock stereo. If you're running an aftermarket head unit or amplifier you'd run the speaker wire from the output on your amplifier to the rear channel. Depending on how many mids you're running or based on the ohm load capabilities of your aftermarket amplifier.. you could then run these in parallel with other speakers, etc. This is why we didn't get into wiring! :)
