1. Not EVERYTHING is voice acted. A lot of your character's interactions with NPCs in content done from Knights of the Eternal Empire and after are just multiple choice lists without voice acting from your character. Only the NPC talks. This seems especially true with NPCs on Odessen. That being said, it's still MOSTLY voice acted. I still have no idea why they don't act out all of the dialogue. Probably to save $. 2. Don't start out trying to craft equipment. Start your first couple of characters with the "Slicing" crew skill and at least one other gathering skill to pick up extra cash and ingredients during quests (pick different other ingredients for each character). This will speed up your access to perks and other in-game purchase items, and start your stockpile of crafting material for later in the game. 3. You can customize our menu bars in the bottom right or top left to add or change map buttons, but the galaxy and world map buttons should appear as default, saving you a few clicks... 4. You CAN add Legacy Storage, and even GUILD storage to your ship. They're not cheap, though.
Thanks for this! I played TOR many years ago, but it's been the better part of 10 years since I was really into it. Now I'm wondering if I should DL it again...
cargo hold is only for subs and preferred status players ... so dont forget to mention that ;) But i didnt know the galaxy travel thing (been i while since i played it, and only came back yesterday .. lol)
My problem with the game is/was always that the beginning just takes so long. All the walking passages are really very long and most of the time the end is unsatisfactory, considering that you had to walk for what felt like 5 minutes to kill 8 enemies and then go back to talk to someone which takes not even 1 minute. I've played other MMOS and also some that had this problem as well. Everyone who has played FFXIV (ARR) knows very well what I mean, but at least there you often had moments that were very exciting, there were already plots at the beginning/middle etc. I don't quite have that here. I like the dialogues for sure but cause its sometimes really funny to listen to them and not cuz its esciting. Of course I still have to play a lot (I'm currently only level 30), but it feels more like work than "enjoyment".
If doing story only, it is a long time to travel with nothing to do. I usually pick up the planet story and some exploration missions and complete them in a loop back to the update point. Makes for something to do along the way and gives ya bonus XP and stuff to sell for credits to help pay for that new quick travel fee.
regarding voice acting.. technically that is true, however there are quite a few conversations that are with alien species that dont speak "common" (english). also, remember with preferred status, planet fast travel now costs a decent amount of credits. not a problem if you have a ton of credits, but if you are new this get expensive so use carefully.
@@Renfail maybe before I get too high lvl iMay I ask what would be a good server to go to or is it all The same besides language ? Any difference ? Thanks eje Suscribing to u now too
Just started playing this game and I could not let what Renfail said slide. When he was talking about the cut scenes and voice acted dialogue and he said "take a moment" I literally said out loud "a moment you fuck?" If you do not space bar through the dialogue you will spend at least 10 times as long playing this game. It takes so long for all that crap to happen. Some of us have lives to lead and want to come in here and smash stuff with light sabers without having to listen to bad character actors drivel on for 5 minutes just to accept a quest. I don't know. Maybe this game is for people that don't have much going on in their lives.
@@Renfail Do you mind if I play it anyway oh lord of all gaming? The real question should be to the developers and if they would like another subscriber. I am sure they are doing fine and will not have to sell the game to another company or anything. You must be one of those people that hates the game and wants to see the servers shut down so you are not only driving people away but support game mechanics that do. It is not as if we could learn from other MMOs that are way more successful. Why would anyone do that?
FF XIV has ...some... story elements to it? I have to disagree, that game is ALL about the story, and I would say it is the top story driven MMO in history. I do agree that SWTOR has great story and that is why I play it, but FF XIV is by far the king of MMO Story.

Fantastic videos! I got in on pre-launch way back when, but I haven't played for over 3 years. A lot has changed!
Welcome back!

You absolutely should! It's a LOT different these days but honestly I think it's a way better game now than it was at launch.

Mostly language and age of server; new player friendly servers should be marked accordingly. @@ab-bk8fe

Are you able to play with a Xbox controller
Through steam you can set one up
Voice acting is always hetter than just reading text

To each their own. I'll take Star Wars over Final Fantasy every day of the week.
