This radio was on sale for Black Friday deals. I bought one mainly because of you and this video. Radioddity owes you a commission. Actually they owe you a lot of money. They have sold MANY radios directly because of you and this channel. I’ve purchased two myself. Thanks Walt for everything you do and I still can’t wait for the book! 73. Jim.

Had a blast using this radio over the weekend on 15 and 10, great signal reports from everywhere using a vertical wire and a tuner. I have the Anytone 6666 Pro version, same as the QT80.

Walt, another great video. FYI - This is the same radio as an Anytone AT-6666 Pro. I have the original Anytone AT-6666 which is only 60 watts. A lot of the items in it’s menus in my radio were brought out to the buttons on the face of the QT-80 and Quad 6 Pro to make it easier to use. Oh, BTW - Radioddity sent me an email with a $50 discount code so I took the plunge and bought a G90. Great radio. Thanks for all you do.

@ I kept going to the website and looking at the G90. Must have done it 20 times or more. The internet knows where you have gone and what you looked at. Apparently, Radioddity saw that I kept looking and sent me a discount. At least that’s what I think.

I had the QT60 before I sold it and got the FT-891. I plan to buy this as a portable.
While I don't like the clicking VFO, that's the only feature I don't like.
Imagine had they made this also pick up 17 & 20 meters?! Still, this is fantastic.

I *finally* got a chance to exercise my mobile/sorta-portable setup during the SSB QSO contest. Ran my G90 with ATAS-120 screwdriver antenna from the parking lot of my hotel. Really enjoyed some fresh air and an opportunity to play radio. It was a good shake-down for my setup, too, as I discovered several things that I needed and, conversely, a few that I didn't.

Hi, Walt. Great video, as always, been thinking about this rig as well. I worked about half of the stations in this video in the contest, using my 25-watt Radio Shack HTX-100 (cutting edge 1980's tech) and 10-meter hamstick on the vehicle. All that was missing from this video was your Gordon Ramsey impression at the end! 73, Mike K3CXG (think I need some chowdah!) WHO DAT!

Wow, that is brilliant. Thanks for another awesome video Walt! I could have used that during the world QSO contest this weekend, although I did fantastic with my Xeigu G90! The mod is great because it's so easy. I am going to have to get one of these! I've had great luck with the Coastal 20 (luck has nothing to do with it since it's a great design). The bands were so packed this weekend! I made contacts with a few of the same bands. I did more DXing over the weekend than in the last few months. I had to work through every pile-up and suspect it would have been easier with 80 watts. Thanks again for this video. It looks like a real game changer for those of us retired folks on a budget...73...Hugh...KN6KNB

I have an older version CRT 9900 and it is great for 10m (It came with the other bands but I set it for just 10). So easy to program using Chirp and with great audio on both tx and rx. The noise reduction on the QT80 is perhaps the only compelling reason to change but for the momement I will stick with what I have. Great demo Walt and yes it's not just the airwaves that were crowded this weekend lol. 73.

Walt, great and fun video as always! Jealous of your locations, especially the oen after relocation! I see that radio supports CW also. If anyone at Radiodity is watching, we'd be happy to test CW on the QT80 and make a video of that radio using CW and the DIY mic change 😉. 73 Mike N4FFF es Becky N4BKY
For technicians wanting to use CW portable, that seems like it could be a great choice! It would give them access to 10m and 15m on CW, both with small enough antennas to be very practical portable. Technicians also have access to 40m and 80m but those aren't as practical for portable. Yes, 20m is the most popular but they don't have access to those. That's why I think it could be a great fit for technicians for CW and portable.

Hey Walt. It seems to be a much improved version of my Anytone AT-6666. It looks kind of similar. Doesn't it have a setting to make the clarifier work on both RX & TX ? the AT-6666 does.
I'll try to resist buying this one for a while... I just forked quite some money for an IC-7300 😆
I'm not a big fan of contests but the 10m band especially was wide open over the north & south Atlantic yesterday afternoon and with the very busy bands I logged more US, Canada, Caribbean, South America stations in a day than I've ever done before. All that with my G90 and a 20m long EFHW in "half-square" (more like 3/4 of a rectangle) configuration in the field. Would have liked to work you. It will happen, eventually.
Keep up the great videos, best 73s! (edited for corrections)

Another great video. The bands were wide open for most of the weekend. The CQ Contest made for an interesting check on my Q90 radio. 20 watts was more than enough. Probably the best DX radio I have ever had. Coastal 20 was the key for me. I found lots of off frequency traffic on 10 m, 2-5 KHz. 17 and 15 m were hot too. Is there a contest strategy to use slightly off frequency? The off frequency was inconsistent within the same contact. Lots of fun on 10 m for a couple of weeks now, particularly Western Europe, Middle East and Russia. I had zero contacts on 10m for 2-4 months.

The Radioddity looks a great radio. It just seems a shame that the higher bands seem to be very quiet apart from digital modes when they are open and only really become active during contests. I think you are doing a great job in trying to get others active, especially when the higher bands will be mostly closed for the best part of 8 years or so after the solar activity dies down and we will all be going back to bigger and more compromised antennae and more bulk to carry around. I’ve been using one of these radios for the last couple of months and it’s a winner. I get plenty of compliments on the audio quality. I’m thinking about getting another one for the van.

Does the mod allow you to transmit on 11-meter? Or just listen?

Isn’t this just a single band (10m) with 4 modes?
    How is it 4 bands?

So if that's a ham radio, why do you have to mod it for 15meters?

You don’t have to mod it, it’s a 10 meter ham radio without any mod.
