Simple answer to the ending: Bernie wished on the aurora to be in the same reality as Winnie. The aurora clearly works in the same way in both realities, ripple effects and all, hence why everything seems a lot brighter.
I wonder if she retained the memories of the Bernie from the original timeline. I'd like to think there is because that means that both universes Bernie's got a happy ending.
It probably also has to do with the fact that she was under the light of the aurora while the wish was being fulfilled, so at the moment of kissing right at that moment it made her remember, I don't know, I want to make a theory with your headcanon

That simple act might've just been the push Bernie needed to keep away those dark thoughts. Anyway, I hope y'all have a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year!
that's what i think, but instead, despite realities being different, things remain constant, like Henry Waters being a serial killer, and Bernie "continuing" her plans for christmas, so after defeating Henry, Winnie returns to the original timeline/reality, but there are some changes, mainly, of Winnie's parents being more understanding and less uncaring, and Bernie remembering alternate reality events, and joining Winnie.
The real horror here was realizing Joel McHale is now old enough to play a dad to fully adult children, as an OG Community fan, it makes me feel so old.

A sweet twist on a holiday classic! "Every time a bell rings a psychopath goes to hell" (and our final girl strikes a striking resembleance to Kacey Becker from OG Scream)
Just a word about the source material. It's a wonderful life is a classic where the world had the chance to watch Jimmy Stewart work through his PTSD on screen. It felt so real, because it was real. Every breakdown, every tear, every rant was him working through the damage left from the war.
Specifically the scene in Martini's Bar. They originally had a wide shot, and were going to set up for a close up of Jimmy Stewart. But he had an actual breakdown in the take, and they stopped filming for the day after. They had to zoom in the shot on the film itself as a result. It's a great performance, and the rest of the cast was top tier, too. Actual fun fact: There's a scene where Uncle Billy wanders off screen, and there's a big crash, followed by him shouting, "I'm all right!" It wasn't planned, a crew member dropped an armful of equipment, and the actor just adlibbed. The crew member got a bonus for improving the scene. Edit: DO NOT watch the abridged version. It cuts out any references to George Bailey's plan to punch out his timecard early and the alternate timeline, making it look like Clarence magically removed George's depression.

Fair, but just go a little further- Alt Bernie replaced/merged with prime Bernie which caused a slight ripple which made Aurora's life just a little better(her parents being a little nicer).
Oh gosh, this was about my theory too! My theory also was perhaps a joint wish - that Bernie and Winnie both wished to "go home" and the wish came out the way it did because "home" is different to them both. Winnie wanted life back to the way it used to be, and Bernie wanted to literally be where Winnie is, hence the Bernie Prime - Dark Timeline Bernie fusion thing.

I paused the kill count trailer for this movie immediately to go watch it after last week's episode, I'm SO glad I did. I somehow totally missed it coming out last year, and going in completely blind made me actually tear up as the movie kept getting gayer 😭 getting more than scraps, and a (despite the R rating 😅) wholesome presentation of lesbians instead of the usual schlock was such a sweet surprise & meant more to me than I'd expect! I'm really touched that the main message of the movie is telling lgbt youth that their presence & lives matter, which I think was a very heartfelt spin on the original. The way it incorporated queer people without comment was pretty true to life- i was watching it to see if i should play it at my fiancee's family movie night, where 5 of the 7 people are bi women/lesbians through sheer chance 😅 Thank you for covering this movie James, while it has it's flaws (i was similarly confused by the psychic powers) it's such a fun and cozy watch. I picked up the DVD & am looking forward to a new yearly tradition 🥰 (Also, you're unironically killing it in the tracksuit 👍💕)
This comment gives me so much joy. The whole second paragraph is 100% truth. (I am also a bi girlie who is surrounded by LGBT fam and friends and.... literally nobody seems to give a shit in daily life which is nice.)
I really do like the fact that this being a horror spin on It's a Wonderful Life doesn't really hold it down like some of the others which is ironic considering that Michael Kennedy also made Time Cut, a movie that does a very poor job at being a horror spin on Back To The Future
I needed this, I just lost my job out of nowhere and life has gotten real sad, when I strive to be happy on Christmas. AND the 13th anniversary of my moms passing is shortly after new year.
I get it, today is the anniversary of my mom's death, and christmas was mainly me and her hanging out so I don't really celebrate any more. Go find little things of joy and keep going, that has been my discovery to get through hard times.
Haven't actually seen the movie but this kill count really encourages me to watch the movie because the plot is an unintentionally good movie for some reason.
it's actually pretty mediocre and not in the hidden gem B-movie way. I feel like the comments are only this nice bc it's a killcount and 80% of the enjoyment here is the fact that James has good commentary/writers. Also, Justin Long is the worst part of this movie, his performance was so unenjoyable and felt like it didn't fit in the movie.
Fun Fact: Ghostface was originally supposed to have white robes to look more like a ghost; producers changed it since they worried it would look too much like a Klan member.

@YoungShelly2 not everything needs to be gayified. Resident evil is about monsters, subterfuge, and survival. If you wanna make original characters gay go ahead, but don't change already established characters to suit your personal fanfic.
Watched the movie yesterday in preparation for the kill count. Justin Long stole the movie for me. His performance was hilarious, Bernie was my second favorite character. I'm loving these different kind of slasher movies. Happy Death Day franchise,Freaky,Totally Killer. Real fun stuff. Merry Christmas James and Chelsea and the entire dead meat crew. As to the aurora borealis, "may I see it" Skinner "no" love a Simpson's reference. See you next week for Maximum Overdrive.
This is one of those movies where all the characters are like "Bernie is a freak. What a weirdo." And I'm like "SHE'S FUCKING ADORABLE!" What's wrong with all of you?! 😆
I really love the design of the slasher in here, ik a lot of people complain about most slasher's costumes being very plain (a mask and a black jumpsuit or something else dark) but I like the "no-face angel" look 7:23 also, that Danny Gonzalez/Drew Gooden callback caught me off guard
Well after watching It's a wonderful knife not too long ago, I'm definitely adding to the favorite Christmas horror classics like the original Black Christmas and Gremlins. I just love it when horror movies do a little twist to a classic genre. In this case a slasher horror take of It's a Wonderful Life.
Superb kill count! An instant classic. Love that you're not afraid to add a touch of snark, even to the movies you enjoy. Like with the town authority figure getting everyone under a mind control spell. "Okay, alright..."

honestly, jimmy kinda looms like the ferris from ferris beulers day off lol
Yesterday I got surgery this really makes me happy to watch a kill count
I hope your recovery goes smoothly !!
@@MossyDroid thank you it was cataract
James i really appreciate these random musical cutaways from you guys.
James calling the angel albino ghostface will never get old 💀
I paused the kill count trailer for this movie immediately to go watch it after last week's episode, I'm SO glad I did.
I picked up the DVD & am looking forward to a new yearly tradition 🥰
(Also, you're unironically killing it in the tracksuit 👍💕)
This comment gives me so much joy. The whole second paragraph is 100% truth. (I am also a bi girlie who is surrounded by LGBT fam and friends and.... literally nobody seems to give a shit in daily life which is nice.)
The podcast on this movie was some gold, was worried we might not get a kill count. The Friday before Christmas makes a lot of sense for release.
the fact that there wasnt a single community bad timeline reference or even a mention of joel mchale is heresy
james rocking that pink tracksuit
I know y'all don't need unsolicited advice but that Maximum Overdrive promo NEEDS to be a UA-cam Short
I really do like the fact that this being a horror spin on It's a Wonderful Life doesn't really hold it down like some of the others which is ironic considering that Michael Kennedy also made Time Cut, a movie that does a very poor job at being a horror spin on Back To The Future
Time Cut was awful. it's literally just a down-graded Totally Killer (which is a great movie)
“Electric carver” 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯
Hey James, just wanna say we appreciate you. You're good people.
So excited for the next one! It is one of my favorite B-Films ever!
I needed this, I just lost my job out of nowhere and life has gotten real sad, when I strive to be happy on Christmas. AND the 13th anniversary of my moms passing is shortly after new year.
Hope you still find a way to have a good Christmas fam 💙
Sending you a lotta love friend.
I get it, today is the anniversary of my mom's death, and christmas was mainly me and her hanging out so I don't really celebrate any more. Go find little things of joy and keep going, that has been my discovery to get through hard times.
That last bit of this video is like the ending of tropic thunder with Tom Cruise dancing
Haven't actually seen the movie but this kill count really encourages me to watch the movie because the plot is an unintentionally good movie for some reason.
I just realized after watching the kill count that it's on Hulu. I have Hulu lmao that's what I get for trying to pirate it first .
It’s also on shudder.
The plot is pretty gay n basic
It’s not that good. The Kill Count is much more fun than the actual movie.
it's actually pretty mediocre and not in the hidden gem B-movie way. I feel like the comments are only this nice bc it's a killcount and 80% of the enjoyment here is the fact that James has good commentary/writers. Also, Justin Long is the worst part of this movie, his performance was so unenjoyable and felt like it didn't fit in the movie.
I loved this movie! And I’ve developed a love of holiday horror. There’s something heartwarming about them.
6:08 Albino Ghostface, that’s what I’m gonna call The Angel from now on XD
Fun Fact: Ghostface was originally supposed to have white robes to look more like a ghost; producers changed it since they worried it would look too much like a Klan member.
I wanna see a horror parody of The Polar Express. A train that takes naughty kids to Krampus!
James calling me Turtle just gave me flashes of all my friends nicknaming me that in Middle and High School. Thank you. Y’all are the best!
I honestly thought Henry Waters second death would get the dull machete 😂. Glad his first death got the golden chainsaw
Bernie remembered everything through the power of lesbians.
There was a really good joke in there about Joel Mchale being in the darkest timeline
This video is the perfect Christmas present for us the fans. Can't wait for more content like this for next year, it's good to see this channel reach new heights since launching in 2017. 2025 is looking to be a great year.
Wooo! Unironically, Maximum Overdrive is one of my favorites! Seeing it as a kid, the Green Goblin truck stuck with me.
23:03 i know that you said that all of your subs came from those to the numbers gags, but I'll still watch those episodes regardless if they have to the numbers gags or not - I'm just here to learn more about how a horror film gets made and see how many people get killed and I might have became a horror movie expert ever since then lol
Who was the one sub though?? Does that have any significance
We love you Jamesssss & Team! 🖤🖤🖤
My dad and granddaddy are huge horror movie fans, and that’s what inspired me to follow in their footsteps.
I loveeeee watching these kill count videos. Thank you guys for everything yall do
2:37 Hey if someone's ever casting for Resident Evil 4 live action, I think we found your Ashley.
You beat me to it. Glad someone else noticed it too
Please no. Don't let anyone remotely involved in this movie touch resident evil. It'll wind up as brokeback raccoon mountain
@@th3ntertainmentthat would be great, resident evil needs more gay
@YoungShelly2 not everything needs to be gayified. Resident evil is about monsters, subterfuge, and survival. If you wanna make original characters gay go ahead, but don't change already established characters to suit your personal fanfic.
I made that reference in my Letterboxd review for this film 😂
Watched the movie yesterday in preparation for the kill count. Justin Long stole the movie for me. His performance was hilarious, Bernie was my second favorite character. I'm loving these different kind of slasher movies. Happy Death Day franchise,Freaky,Totally Killer. Real fun stuff. Merry Christmas James and Chelsea and the entire dead meat crew. As to the aurora borealis, "may I see it" Skinner "no" love a Simpson's reference. See you next week for Maximum Overdrive.
Merry Christmas to everybody

I'll have you know that the entirety of Steamed Hams is memorized entirely within my mind
18:30 he really got that mickey alteri cut literally
This is one of those movies where all the characters are like "Bernie is a freak. What a weirdo." And I'm like "SHE'S FUCKING ADORABLE!" What's wrong with all of you?! 😆
4:16 HO HO HO! MERRY -CHRISTMAS- *BUSINESS!!*
also merry christmas, james :D
Love you guys ! Feliz Navidad
I really love the design of the slasher in here, ik a lot of people complain about most slasher's costumes being very plain (a mask and a black jumpsuit or something else dark) but I like the "no-face angel" look
7:23 also, that Danny Gonzalez/Drew Gooden callback caught me off guard
15:52 is how long it took to realize james in the pink track suit😂
Well after watching It's a wonderful knife not too long ago, I'm definitely adding to the favorite Christmas horror classics like the original Black Christmas and Gremlins. I just love it when horror movies do a little twist to a classic genre. In this case a slasher horror take of It's a Wonderful Life.
Every time James does the business thing it catches me so off guard and I’m laughing for the next 12 minutes
Great…now I’m gonna have “Trucks trucks trucks trucks trucks trucks” stuck in my head for the rest of the year…

24:06 FINALLY AFTER YEARS I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
10:14 Steamed Hams lives on. Well played James.
Superb kill count! An instant classic. Love that you're not afraid to add a touch of snark, even to the movies you enjoy. Like with the town authority figure getting everyone under a mind control spell. "Okay, alright..."
0:45 the callback to that one joke in the exorcist 3's kill count lol
This movie was a fun time a movie where I didn’t really have to think and Justin long is always a pleasure to watch, still and always will be my favorite actor of all time no matter what he’s in.
9:49 almost every belgian "Hey that's dimitri vegas XD"
Hahaha Im Belgian too, saw this movie and didn’t recognize him when I watched it. Boy, was I surprised when someone pointed that out to me 🤣
The fact you mentioned Yellowjackets got me all happy!!
My theory is Berni remembers everything by making a wish on the aurora at the end as well
David looks like he faked his bachelors degree and has to get one from a community college.
4:16 *”BUSINESS! >:D”*
festive business :D
James absolutely rocks that pink track suit. Dunno what'll happen to it now that the Kill Count is done, but he definitely looked great in it.
Its really Knife that Dead Meat is getting into the christmas Spirit, we can always Count on him to Slash away any negativity!
Ba dum tss
Hah.
I would really enjoy James doing a video(or a couple) on Yellowjackets. With the new season coming out early next year the time is just right!
The numbers gag in the end is the most hilarious I've seen, those Northern green lights did him dirty. 😂😂😂😂
3:02 I can’t explain how happy it makes me to know that someone I watch has seen The Righteous Gemstones!!!
fully expecting this to be a 25 minute long knife commercial
25:06 Oh my Gyatt!
We had no idea.
