I saw and hear Heilung play their rituals the first time on Castlefest in 2017, I am Dutch and I go there since the beginning in 2004. I never saw a concert so mesmerizing and enchanting and emotional. I had heard them months before the concert on my yt recommendation and I felt so weird and thought it felt so good and so familiar. At the ritual at Castlefest when the moon rose above the stage, and we stood there, dressed as pagans and listened to the music and rithms of the drums, we were all in a hypnotic state of mind and I felt emotional at the same time because it was so awesome. Everytime when I hear the music I feel emotional because it awakens distant feelings from ages ago into my soul.
Seeing them perform live was an unimaginable experience. The energy of the crowd and the beat of the music just coursed through your body... it's amazing. I would highly recommend.
Tommy, as a man of Sakha origin (Yakut) myself, I find Heilung as a connecting link between western and eastern pagan beliefs. We have so much in common! 🌀🌀🌀🧘🧘🧘🧿🧿🧿
I love how detailed the performance of the human sacrifice is. She has the same hairstyle as some bog bodies that have been found, they also use the same rope around her neck also with the piece of wood hanging on the rope. Immediately reminded me of the Tollund Man.
This was a truly mesmerizing performance! Very grounded and deep, very ancient. The repeating background vocals were hypnotic. The opening and closing parts are the First Merseburg spell in Old High German: "... is a "Lösesegen" (blessing of release), describing how a number of "Idisen" were freed from their shackles warriors caught during battle." The rest of the verses are the nine verses from Grógaldr or The Spell of Gróa, in Old Norse. It is a spell of protection. The bridges between each verse are referring to the writings about the Ægishjálmur ("The Helm of Awe"), which is old Icelandic magic stave. "It is a powerful talisman, both against all evil and also a sure defense against the anger and aggression of rulers."
I was at this show at the Red Rocks in 2022, it was the most amazing performance I have ever seen, and the Red Rocks amphitheater was the perfect venue for this kind of experience!
Song connects to body positivity spirituality, new chapter, talking to the gods, Maria’s vocals speak out the most to her, as trans woman. Blessed be, brother. Welcome to the experience. Enjoy it❤
The next Heilung you should react to is the one where First Nations Native American tribal members join them on stage. As someone with a bit of native blood in me, it really touched me deeply.
The new song, titled Traust, is taken from the band’s upcoming new album Futha which is scheduled to be released later this month. Speaking about the new song, the band says, “Traust is probably HEILUNG‘s most positive song so far. Dominated by female voices it starts out with, what is called Leysigaldr in old Icelandic, a blessing to release a tied warrior. HEILUNG performs that blessing actively on stage during the song. It continues with nine blessings, taken from the old Icelandic poem Grogaldr. Here, luck in battle, good words in speeches and yet another blessing of release are summoned. The choir sings a younger Icelandic protection spell.
After learning more about Norse spirituality, I think I understand their shows a bit more. Maria is a völva (oracle), hence why her face is covered. Kai is a goði, or priest. The ritual depicted here is quite possibly in the same vein as the utiseta, or "sitting out." That's when you spend overnight outside, exposed to the elements, for spiritual insights and ascension. Just guesses on my part, though!
Understand completely Tommy.. Artistry like this has a soul resonance...It calls out to our spirit and reminds us that we are all connected..we are all energy and the rhythms weave and integrate us as ONE!
Seen the video yesterday, waiting for your reaction. You're right, this is way too short, as the time seems to disappear. Music, for sure, an experience also.
Even if i cannot fully appreciate what the neaning is, the primal droning..drums..music..her voice..artistic display..were quite breathtaking. Its always an experience of..difference when i see them. ❤ and ✌️
The overall tribal sound of this band always sounds so cool. Great vocals as per usual as well. They just give you a feel of something serious going on when they play. Really makes you pay attention.
My best Songs this year( and is not over😂) Perfume of the timeless from Nightwish, Traust from Heilung,,and Finsterwacht from Saltartio Mortis. And the year is long.i mean in 2024, we hear awesome music.
I love this band. They don't perform concerts; they perform spiritual Pagan rituals. Their music speaks to your soul, reminding you that the old Gods are still here and you can connect to Them.
Maria always sounds incredible! Have you checked out their live performance of Hamrer Hippyer before? That one has some final boss energy that I can't get enough of. I wonder if Maria would be up for an interview at any point. She's done some with a few other channels I watch and she's always lovely to listen to!
I wonder if you can find a decent performance of them doing Svanrand. Because that one just does something to me and I listen to the album version on the days I need it, but after seeing Svanrand live I think you could appreciate the performance. ❤
side note: i loved the bare boobs of the girl. it also speaks for the positivity of the song. boobs can make people of all ages and genders happy. if you feel down, look at some boobs, snuggle into some boobs, if my husband is feeling down, i have a special super cropped pullover for this occassion
Heilung give us what we are subconcious searching for I love the small but full impacting difference between the live and studio record. First or second Merseburg charms (incantations) hits everytime.
This music connects us to our roots. We have become lazy and lazy. We don't even know what it's like to actually live anymore. Our ancestors were involved in the struggle for survival every day and for this reason they had a completely different relationship to life than we do today. We have become slaves to the modern world. Hostages of materialism. But more and more people seem to be becoming aware of this and in my eyes that is this feeling that rises in us.
Yeah listening to heilung kinda feels like time cease to exist..., it's a weird feeling but very pleasant. Also there is smth about Maria Franz' voice that just always hits me in the feels even if i don't understand a word.

Yea their music and what they are doing is so profound.

Yeah never before have I been taken to such a place during a live show. Pure vibe.

I watched the video a couple of hours ago and I was ENTRANCED by it: the music, the visuals, the atmosphere... I got lost, yet I feel like I belong.

Its difficult to put into words what Heilung does for me. There is something that feels like coming home in their music and rituals.

YAAAS! I KNEW IT! 😁 haven't looked it up yet, but this performance feels like Maria being Freya who is choosing a new Valkeyrie .. Love to you Tommy ❤

Ofdrykkja - Hårgalåten (Official Music Video). yo bro i guess. I also think it's an interesting song. to listen. also a good video clip
Beautiful is *very not enough* as statement for this singing Part. But the performance is more important!
Heilung doesn't do concerts, they do rituals.
😻🤤👍
I watched this last night, this band always makes me feel something 🙌🏼. Almost Etheral 🙌🏼🥲
Love to do a big community meeting at one of their concerts.
