We randomized Pokemon our starters, but we won't be able to choose one! Instead, we'll have to combine traits from all three starters to make one brand new starter! After six rounds of mad scientist shenanigans, we'll build the best teams we can, and have some battles!

It would have been pretty sick with either Latios or Cresselia, especially since there are so many Levitating psychic types

Yeah, I really don’t know why he went with movepool of Zebstrika over either of the others.
Then again, he would have locked himself out of electric for the next round… which would’ve been fine, since he went with a rotom moveset by accident anyways.

I think Luke messed up, and gave both typing and moves of Rotom.
He also wasn’t supposed to have sturdy as the abilities are from shared primary typings and Alolan Geodude line is still primary rock.
Actually it wouldn’t be cheating as there’s the Magnemite line, he just had the wrong justification

These types of battles are always crazy because you can always think of a better mix up later on that could’ve been done better for a specific group
I love the unseriousness of this video it’s so fun and lighthearted and doesn’t feel as competitive as the normal then we fights and I love it so much, I don’t know if it’s because it’s these two or the nature of the team building but it was so fun

I really love these videos and really like the style of team recap here! I think the only thing I would ask for is the typing on the recap cause I kept forgetting what they were while Shady and Luke talked through their thinking!

The problem with getting too cute with the rules is that both players end up playing with different rules. Just look at the typings and how that was done differently between the two.

11:33 ribombee body, toucannon moves, lycanroc typing 100%. Toucannon learns a surprising number of special moves including boomburst (technically not learned but w/e), and you could rip refrigerate off aurorus or galvanize off golem with rock typing

Toucannon has some really good special moves, so Ribombee would’ve been the best choice
Possible combining idea:
Pick one to be the body: which gives HP, attack, defense, and speed
One to be the mind: gives movepool, special attack and special defense
The last is typing and ability

Luke messed up right in the beginning you could've had Cresselia body Latios moveset then Zebstrika's Electric typing and then for the ability you get Levitate from the Rotom Forms
I would love to see a version of this where you do a blind combination but your opponent can ban using one Pokemon a certain way. For example, your opponent sees a Blaziken with Speed Boost on the left and bans the ability on the left, so you're forced to use the moves or the body of a Blaziken instead.
I have a fun idea for a challenge. Could y’all please catch eight Pokemon of your choice that all have random abilities. Both of you also get to pick out the move sets after catching the Pokemon. Once you both acquire teams, read off each of your team members’ Pokedex entries. If the one being read to correctly identifies a Pokemon entry, he gets the option to force a trade without knowing the moveset of the identified Pokemon. The player who gets the identity correct is also able to pick out a custom ability for the traded Pokemon. Sabotaging some of your own team members is legal. Let’s say that the two leftover Pokemon with easy Pokédex entries are physical attackers like Machamp. You can rigg the entire moveset to be special or support moves. The Pokemon can’t be pseudo legends, legends, paradox, ultra beast, mythical or, starters to make it a bit more challenging.

This is always an awesome then we fight concept to combine stats. I also enjoy the Battleship like team builds, but what about kinda mixing the 2 ideas?
What if you guys filled boxes with different stat categories like one box filled with special attackers and another filled with big ole tanky bois, etc?
Maybe 6 specific categories of stat distribution or just each box has that stat's highest mons in general but still chosen at random and maybe only 1 pick per box per person?
If there's enough boxes you could even pick 3 random Battleship shots and build mons similarly to how this video build setup works.

On the first round Luke could have done body of latios, type of Zebstrika and move pool of Cresselia. He could still get levitate from vikavolt or eelektross and have a move pool that has a stab psychic move and dazzling gleam as well as healing moves and calm mind
I think the groupings should be 1. stats 2. typing AND movepool (for STAP options) and 3. ability
