Tavares is trying to make himself look good by slashing and burning to cut costs. Next comes all sorts of problems because the company has been gutted and next comes rebadged Chinese vehicles. VW is already doing it and Stellantis is also starting to do it. 100% of Stellantis vehicles to be sold in Singapore will be Chinese vehicles built in a Polish factory. They already have shown their plans. Almost 100% of Stellantis vehicles will be on a single platform.
We all should have known legacy manufacturers would be gutted by EVs. They aren't vertically integrated and so don't know how to do anything other then bolt modules provided by suppliers onto sheet metal. I'm no Tesla fan but that company is vertically integrated and therefore designs everything in their cars including the chips. That's why VW failed even though the German government gave them €50 billion to do EVs. They couldn't get all the different CPUs to talk together so the vehicles sucked electricity. All of this was known to be a stumbling block years ago. 5 years ago VW spent €7 billion hiring 25,000 software engineers to sort it out. Obviously they failed and no wonder because the task was impossible.

They buy the car, trash, or crash it, then we pay for it via taxes when the finance institution writes of the loss and requests money from the fed. @quyle9483 Місяць тому +9

@Matt-fl8uy so what you're saying is California thinks turning up salaries is going to change the economy. Yeah at this point what's an extra 4 dollars an hour for a 12 dollar an hour skill with a burger made with 2 dollars worth of material...
Yes that 4 dollars an hour per employee is alot for a corporation to handle. Can they do it? Sure. Higher up the scale should decrease their incomes to accommodate for their base line employees. But they will never do that.
The term some people say "the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer" does have some significance to our problems.
If everyone's salary goes up, you aren't getting anywhere. There's more to the problem than just a higher salary for burger flippers. If you don't want to dig deep to understand and want a better quality of life I highly suggest getting out of ridiculous California. Life is better with a "lower income" elsewhere.

While we definitely needed to start thinking about a new vehicle, I questioned whether we need one this expensive and HATED all the tech that was needless thrown in into. I am OK with features that increase safety, like collision avoidance, lane departure, etc- but running boards that retract, wifi, sensors on every aspect of the vehicle that have nothing to do with actually driving it, just creature comforts... and these trucks are rolling off the line new at 90k?? Did the benefits & quality of their products grew significantly since 2019? We don’t see it!
