Saw it in London. Beautiful beyond words. Never thought I would enjoy Dylan songs more when not sung by the man himself. But lordy was I wrong. “I want you” sent shivers down my spine.
I'm obviously not smart enough to get this show. I saw the national tour. Fist off, the performers are incredible. Obviously incredible talent just from their acting, singing and playing instruments. The orchestrations are beautiful. Wonderful songs that Dylan wrote and done a tremendous honor by Simon Hale. That being said, it was nothing like I've seen before. I saw one reviewer describe it as a play with musical interludes. That's what threw me off. In some instances the performers would start into song and others someone would pull out stand mics for solo or groups of ensemble would sing around. It just threw me off. Not to mention you must understand this is NOT a feel good story. It is about despair, human failings and struggling to survive.

I can't want to see this next year in Chicago!
