    stumbled upon this account and I am OBSESSED! So nice to get an educated opinion rather than just beauty tips. I struggle with combination skin, and have eczema on various spots throughout my body that comes and goes with seasons. However my under eye and temple area by the crease of my eyes are extremely sensitive and seem to react to ANY product i put underneath them except coco oil. Makeup, cleansers, lotions all leave my side/under eye area red, irritated and then breaks out into a dry red patch. HELP!!

    Latisse WORKS! When I hit 40, I noticed my lashes and brows were thinning. I started using Latisse on my lashes and brows. Within 3 months they had grown back to how thick they were in high school. I've been using it for over 5 years now and I LOVE it. People compliment all the time on how long my lashes are, so it's definitely noticeable.

    Your skin Q&A has been one of the highlights on my Fridays. I can't wait to watch it once I get a notification that your video has been posted. It's so kind of you to spend time doing this for us. Thank you and have a nice weekend :)

    I think that the sit down format works best for a Q&A. Especially since alot of what you discuss is pretty technical. Plus you sure cover a lot of material, and this all seems easier to do while sitting down vs. while rushing around during your work day. I would still continue to include snippets of skin care advice as you vlog, though, since it is one of the things that makes you so unique. That plus your delightful personality :). Have a good weekend!

      It is quite useful when you use full face makeup everyday, though. Where it is impossible to take off all your makeup and reapply cream sunscreen again. Colorescience make a great one. IT Cosmetics also has SPF 50 (all-physical) sunscreen powder.

    Glad you talked about paraben. I know a lot of people avoid it because it is "linked to breast cancer". Could you maybe elaborate on that?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +13

      No established evidence linking breast cancer to parabens in topicals/cosmetics. Merely speculative at this juncture. Parabens applied to the skin are metabolized by an enzyme within skin cells and then they are conjugated and exreted in the urine and bile. It doesn't hurt to avoid them if it worries you though...plenty of products capitolize on this, so they are easy to find...and there are other preservatives that are effective microbicidals for cosmetics. Hope this helps.

    You've explained in this video why I didn't used to have a problem with silicones, but do now -- I became sensitized over time. Being sensitive to both silicones and chemical sunscreens makes it super hard to find a good sunscreen product! Used to use the Paula's Choice Hydralight but I react to it now.

    Great video! Is there a reason that my skin breaks out and itches when I use the Porefessional Primer? I find this to be the best primer in smoothing out my pores but then I deal with itchy skin. I was watching some other videos that stated it could be the silicone or dimethicone in it. Are there other ingredients that clog pores in the primers that you could explain?

    Hi, I live in a cold, dry climate(Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) and was wondering as a man if you have suggestions on how to approach taking care of my skin, specifically the areas that I shave with a razor-or those areas that I trim with clippers during the winter months. I prefer to have a little stubble especially during winter as fully exposing the skin by shaving often results in irritation, razor burn, and even ingrown hairs. As a guy who worked in the beauty industry for almost twenty years, this is one area that I never felt was ever really addressed or offered much if any advice... thanks for sharing your knowledge and any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Love this channel, you're an amazing resource! Any opinions on vitamin E oil? I saw someone using it in place of an eye cream and targeting their lashes too. Should I try it or is there something better? (otc) also saw someone pop biotin softgels and apply that, but I'm already taking it by mouth.

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

    I found your channel last week & i LOVE it! I drink alot of water. I work in a hospital so its a really dry environment so i constantly feel dehydrated even though i drink like 3 liters of water a day. Do you think theres a difference in drinking cold rather room temp water?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +1

      allison denmark thanks! No water temperatures for drinking make no difference. It is a myth that drinking more water is "essential for dry skin."

      Thanks for the tip. I've started to implement using abandoned conditioners I have for shaving and putting lotion on while still wet and air drying. I'm a fan.

    Hi Dr Dray,
    Could you do a video on how often should you use the major actives (e.g. Vitamine C, Niacinamide, Retinol) in order to have effectiveness out of them? I mean, I heard somewhere that some actives stay inside the skin for several hours, even more than a day, so in that case, it would make sense to use it every other day.
    Thank you very much.

      none of this is actually established because these are cosmetic, non-drugs

    Hi Dr. Dray! You say here that dimethicone when combined with petrolatum can be pore clogging. The CeraVe cream in the tub contains both - should that not be used on the face? Thank you!

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  6 років тому +4

      it can be occlusive in an ointment....cerave cream is not an ointment..the vehicle is what matters, not the ingredients alone

      As I continue to emphasize...the few products you use on the face the better off you are. Avoid putting to many irritating things on, as this worsens enlarged pores. Check out my "tips for pores" videos, as I discuss more there.

      the EWG criteria is vague and not disclosed, but they seem to favor products from companies that contribute financially to the EWG campaign, so conflict of interest

    Really love your Videos and i am very thankful for it. But in two Points i have to disagree with you. Vitamin C Serums really work on the Skin and Revitalash is a miracle. Since i use it many People ask me which Mascara i use, because my lashes are really Long now. It Needs a Little time and you have to use it constantly, but it works. And my german eye doctor says ist safe to use. Sending love and peace from Germany. Bye

    Thanks for answering my question about coffee!! I asked because I always have two cups a day and I don't want to quit it. I am no quitter!! Lol! PS I use the DHC cleansing oil (olive oil based) and do the oil cleansing method. What do you think of the oil cleansing method?

    • @DrDrayzday
      @DrDrayzday  7 років тому +2

      Today in the vlog I mention a little tip for cutting back on coffee (though two cups is not much girl...don't you quit that). Cleansing oil makes sense to me actually. I have mentioned this before, but it seems like a better way to take off makeup then soap...less harsh. I don't wear much makeup or use an oil though. Hope you are having a great night!
