  • This fire had all the elements to go much bigger, but with mutual aid and the 3-C's: Communication, Coordination, & Cooperation, we were blessed to mitigate containment. Thank you for watching!

When ever there is a forest fire near my end of the valley in Southern Oregon. There is a group of helicopters that set up a small command center in a field 1 block away from my house. It interesting to watch them.

Here near the gulf coast we see neighbors helping neighbors during hurricanes. I think I'll stick with hurricanes and leave the woodland fires to you cousin. Great job and lucky to have folks like you thinking of us.

I recently read an article in our local newspaper about the Rodeo-Chedeski fire that happened 20 years ago this week. June 2002. The second largest wildfire in az history, the largest at the time. I was 4 at the time, and the only thing I remember from that was looking from our back porch at a giant sky of orange. We had to be evacuated east to St John's AZ. The entire town of Show Low was evacuated in less than 4 hours. 10,000 people. President George w bush even came to visit the fire crews. 9 years later, came the Wallow fire, east of us, and the biggest in AZ history. June-july 2011. The largest fire right now is the Pipeline and Haywire fires near Flagstaff, which thankfully have been mostly contained. I have serious respect for those fighting wildland fires.

Wildfires are extremely resource heavy, time consuming and always different.
If you're nuts, this is the job for you 🤣🤣🤣 dark humour is the way forward Uncle!!
Don't quite have the same heat here in Northumberland, we do get a fair share of wildfire jobs, mostly in the hills and remote areas. Don't get helicopters at our jobs, unless it is a large scale incident. Last job we had a drone flying around, that was useful for spotting fire spread etc.
And yes, you do need a good wife or husband to back you up, it is just as hard on them as they don't really know what is going on or how long you are likely to be out....
    Keep squirting the wet stuff!!!
