I always love when you do this because you bring up things I've either forgotten or something I hadn't looked at that way before. I'm harvesting, cutting up, and trimming a ton of stuff now for a glue book swap I'm in. You've given me some more ideas! Thank you!❤️
Would LOVE the Geico Gekko for my collection, I've never seen these--soooooooo cute. I love these gluebook info-heavy chats. Incredibly helpful and appreciated --🍄
Thanks for sharing! You found some real cuties. This is what I do when I’m flaring. Park myself on the couch and cut up magazines. My daughter and I have been collaging together for years and it’s so relaxing. Glad I found your channel!
I really enjoyed watching how you are harvesting the pictures. I spent a few days doing that recently and found so many pictures as I have been watching your channel for a while and really want to start a Glue Book. Love this latest book you are doing and that made me decide to start. Thanks so much for sharing and always making your videos full of fun and laughter.
Nicole. Thank you for this detailed video. Have you given a tour of your art room? If not, would you. Also, how do you transport your project for the evening to the family tv area? Do you work at a table while watching tv? With family. Do not intend to be invasive- just trying to make working in front of TV work better. Thank you so much for such fine insights!!! KayC
Thank you for sharing your thought process for harvesting. I tend to over harvest and pull off a lot more than I need (I have many, many containers of harvested images). I like that you pass over what you really don’t want/need. The one tip I learned from someone years ago is to harvest from the back of the magazine forward and tear off each page as you go through, so the pages don’t wrinkle and rip when you take them out.
Thank you SO much. I found this so helpful in deciding what to harvest and HOW to harvest. You gave so many good pointers. I really appreciate all that you do.
Hi Nicole, I had surgery yesterday and when I seen this upload it cheered me up so much like UA-cam gods were giving me my favourite videos I love ur magazine harvest videos so much ❤
Great video to show how to harvest a magazine. I really want my students to watch this. Have you tried quilting magazines for backgrounds, or Prairie Woman for boarders. Thank you for sharing.💜🐞
This is amazing, so much detail definatly my go to video if I need help In choosing images. I will be looking at my magazines differently from now on. Thank you Nicole, much love from Ann 🏴
Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to cut up all those images? I like harvesting and glueing but struggle feeling overwhelmed with cutting pages up and fussy cutting.
Hi Nicole! Do you keep LOTS of magazines to cut up? I have a problem w/that. I'll keep LOTS because I can't go through them at the time, OR, I'll tear out the single page, but due to lack of time or something else, don't get to cut right away. I label the PILES "Fall, Valentines, C-Mas (you get the idea). The problem is doing that takes up too much space in here, PLUS, I have bad allergies and one of the worst is DUST--- which doing this creates. PLEASE! Suggestions? What do you do? Thanks.
I'm looking forward to Nicole's answer here too...(I've watched her earlier videos on her organization methods and got some fab ideas there). I do the same thing (cut and save and keep lots) and have bad allergies too--what I've found that helps a great deal is buying boxes of Zip-lock bags (various sizes, for the various sized piles, lol) I try to put them in their bags as soon as I'm done cutting things up (to avoid piles all together) and seal the baggies. I keep the baggies (in alphabetical order by topic) in a large tote. That way they're not gathering dust and when I go to use them, they're "fresh and clean" and dust free. I've also designated one large cube basket for magazines...if the bin is full that's it; I either don't add any more or cull the collection and share my older mags/catalogs that I've already gone through with friends or add them to the recycle bin before adding any fresh stuff. Hope that helps, happy crafting and gleeful gluing to you ✂📓
