- Got this PB offline. This run has now been beaten by SSBMstuff with a 1:23:37. Still have some mistakes, especially in Misty Bog. Going to keep at it and try to get the 1 2 3!

I found Tree Tops a doddle, even as a kid, but the part that had me scratching my head for months was that dragon in Haunted Towers. I knew he was somewhere above me as I saw the hole in the ceiling and could hear him wobbling, and could hear the whirlwind. Could never figure it out until I got a free guide to Crash 3 and Spyro that came with a gaming magazine from the local shop.
this game took me 15 years to 120%
was it that one gem hidden in the very back behind the starting area in cliff town?
or the speed run/jumps in the tree tops?
It's been about 17 years since I first played and I still haven't got 120%
It took me 3 hours.

@@hanyuukawaiinanodesu For me what had me stumped for years was Haunted Towers. At the time I couldn't figure out how to get that last Dragon and gems.

Why the abitrary assignment of the 120% as compleation in Spyro1, and the even more arbitrary 117% in Spyro 3?

Talked to my older brother about this yesterday. I recently showed him something from Theme Park Roller Coaster (2000) we thought was funny, and he said how bad it looked. I said “yeah, a ceramic bowl could pass as 5 sides of a cube, but with 8k we can see hair strands.”

Wow! Great job on this speed run. This game was one of my childhood video games. Glad to see several secrets, especially the Gnasty death glitch. I wasn't expecting that. :)
1:23:02 it's awesome how hard you owned that last thief of the game :D:D I had to revert twice to understand what even happened and I had no idea it was even possible :D
I also love the final treasure room. They put so much effort into that room alone to make the kids happy :D

This game gives % for following:
40% for all dragons
12% from eggs (I really think.)
48% for 12,000 gems which 1% equals 250.
20 extra % are from those last 2000 gems so bonus stage gives x2,5 higher %.
I calculate if there's no multiply in bonus level then total would be only 108%
HE WENT INTO MISTY BOG'S ROOM OF DEATH AND DIDN'T GET HIT ONCE. I CALL HAX!
Always loved how this game felt like a dream world. Granted, playing late at night before going to bed helped but the music and sound effects as well as some visuals really bring it home.
I just realized this, but literally all the dragons are male. How do they propagate their species?
As far as I remember, the dragons are delivered in their eggs by fairies rather than birthed. I guess all the female dragons die young or something.

Incredible run. I've played this game for almost my entire life, put at least a thousand hours into it as a kid, and even then you did stuff I never knew was possible.

I usually 100% artisans world, but then skip stuff in the following worlds because getting everything the first time through makes the game shorter for some reason. After defeating Gnasty Gnorc, I go back through the game and get the stuff I purposely missed. It makes it more fun that way
I felt pretty pleased with myself 20 years ago when I got it down to 3h50m, that's with all 1ups and no glitching but still that can only add about 5 minutes over all. This is impressive.

At first I was completely wowed at the time that you did and thought it was completely fake but then I realize you were playing first one which can very well be beaten and that time the other ones at least need 4 hours. I’m going to try and beat your time today just because I’ve been beating these games over and over for the past 20 years I think I can beat it ;-)

Just realized at 10:15 in confronting toasty the level features an arms race between wolves and sheep. Wolves are disguised as sheep, and sheep are disguised as shepherds. Funny little detail.

This is awesome - only level I could never finish on the original PS1 (I play on ps1fun website) is Wild Flight because once I get down in that little area, there's no whirlwind to get me out of that area meaning I'm trapped.
