How To Replace CVT Transmission Cooler Lines (Dodge Caliber)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- This is a step by step video on how to replace the transmission cooler lines on a 2007 Dodge Caliber. It's a pretty easy job as you can see in this video. The Transmission Cooler Lines blew off while driving on the highway, leaking all the CVT transmission fluid out. Just be careful to put the correct into the system, which is CVT transmission fluid. Often times people put ATF (automatic transmission fluid) accidentally and it winds up damaging the transmission.
I hope this helps anyone seeking to DIY.

New hose, new cooler, still leaking... Dodge... thanks, by the way, nice video🕹
I see ya Alex Keep em coming 💪💪💯💯
I got them coming man! Stay tuned and thanks for supporting my channel.
Nice video thanks. Do you recommend changing the the transmission cooler to see if that works for overheating? Thanks
Hey! Yes, I think it’s worth a try. I recommend doing a cvt fluid drain and fill when you do change the Trans cooler. Use the CVT fluid from the dealership... it’s like $11 bucks a quart. Hope it helps.
@@AlexTheCarDoctor thank you.
Resolve you overheating transmission? Have this problem with my 2010 dodge caliber
@@JoseLopez-tn1xc most of the time this will fix the transmission overheating problem if there’s no mechanical damage inside the transmission.I do recommend doing a drain and fill along with filter with dealership cvt fluid. Thanks for watching!
That's so true he didn't say anything about the Transmission oil cooler
So why was the transmission replaced in the first place? I didn’t catch that at all.
How many quarts of cvt fluid does it take to
I Have A Dodge Caliber 2007, And The Transmission Oil Got Mix With The Antifreeze, Does This Mean I Need To Replace The Transmission Coolant?
Hey Alex! Big question! 2010 caliber 2.0. I do not have the same transmission cooler as shown in the video. i have a "valve cooler bypass" Part number 04872709AB. It uses the same two transmission lines you replaced. However there is only 2 outlet lines on my bypass cooler. On the transmission cooler shown in your video your have 4 outlets. 2 for the lines you replaced and then the other 2 are actually engine Coolant lines! My question to you is. Did you possibly happen to get a glance at where those hoses go to? Im assuming a different style of Thermostat housing With 2 extra female end nipples.
My reason for wanting to do this conversion is i believe the transmission cooler is more superior than the bypass plate in terms of cooling yes there is a small internal thermostat in the bypass plate but theres no coolant lines attached all it does is recirculate Atf. Dodge is such a cheap ass bastard! Even the fluid fill tube is different than shown! Mine is 4 inches lower and 2 inches to the left. AND the opening is 1/4 of an inch. Like Barely 6 millimeter's (i used a micrometer to get an exact measurement)
YOU CANNOT FIND A 6MM FUCKING FUNNEL FOR YOUR GODDAMN LIFE. Jesus i spilled so much Cvt fluid. I know for a fact the opening is nearly an inch in diameter like 25+ mm's like the one in your video because i bought the dipstick attachment from the dealership and my micrometer shows 25.5 millimeters. i I am so angry at Dodge for this.
Hey Alex, it requires to drain transmission oil first?
No, you can service the lines without draining the transmission.
How much fluid did you put in there? I'm currently working on one and I need this info.
Thanks for watching. If it’s completely empty, you’ll need about 8.5 quarts. If it’s just a drain and fill, then about 6 Quarts.
Can you send link to parts having hard time finding it online
I believe we had to get these from the dealership. They weren’t crazy expensive though.
Will any fluid come out of bottom connections?
So I have a question I have a 08 dodge caliber and I just notice one of my cooler lines might have a Leake theme a lot dark burnt oil or transmission fluid or radiator which ever it is but the other line is fine if we're to do this do I need to draine the radiator fluid and the transmission fluid or the radiator
Hey there no need to touch the cooling system even though it goes into the radiator you will not lose any coolant when removing the lines if removed properly. If it was me I would replace my lines and do a transmission drain and fill make sure you get the transmission fluid from the dealership
@@AlexTheCarDoctor oh okay yeah idk if that would be a good Idea I've heard if the trans mission fluid has never been change that it's good to leave it cuz it could make it worse I got it with high milage and don't know the history on it
@@nathanrohring9182 you may have a cvt transmission but even if you have a regular automatic a drain and fill will not hurt any thing a flush will.I do a lot of drain and fill at my shop as long as my customers don’t have any transmission problems I will perform the service.
@@nathanrohring9182 I would never recommend a flush on a transmission that I have no history on that will mess it up 80% of the time in my experience, a flush is very safe it doesn’t stir up debris in the transmission like a flush does
Did you have to drain the coolant from the radiator before you removed the line dat has antifreeze flowing through it
Normally you have to but in this situation the cooler busted dumping all the antifreeze out
@@AlexTheCarDoctor, thanks my dude✊🏾😊
Ok I got the same car Dodge Caliber 07 what would be the problem of my transmission over heating can u give me some tips of why ?
Hey! Most likely you have a CVT Transmission which is problematic on those cars. The first thing I would try is a drain & fill with a new transmission filter change. Use fluid direct from the dealership. If that doesn’t work, then you’ll have to get it professionally diagnosed. I’ve had one come into the shop with that same exact problem, and the customer had to replace the transmission. I hope this is not the case with you.
I had the transmission changed already and they put new oil in already too
@@youngar1595 was it with a used one or remanufactured? Sometimes when you go used, especially on the CVTs you’re left in worse shape then when you started. CVT design is flawed so replacing it with another Used The CVT is putting yourself back in the same boat. The customer that I mentioned before went through 3 used CVT’s before she found one that worked...
It was used from a different vehicle plus the transmission is expensive for a new one
@@youngar1595 yeah buddy, unfortunately it’s hit or miss when it comes to those CVT’s . I think the dealership wanted like $3k for a remanufactured one! The customer wound up getting a used one from lkqonline.com but I advised her that she may be back in the same boat eventually.
