Combine results are far less important in the NBA than for example the NFL. In the NBA it's all about functional athleticism which shows up in playing. Functional athleticism is important in the NFL too, but there's more of a desire for raw athletic ability as it's a different type of sport.
In the NBA, they are really more concerned about things like standing reach and wingspan than about a guys numbers on these tests. It's still fun to have, but it's much less of a factor.

Question What if a projected #1 pick says he's not a circus monkey he just wants to hoop and doesn't go through the combine can he still get drafted or would he have to come into the league as a free agent or is this dog and pony show the only way in ? Also what happens if lets say a Victor Wembanyama skilled player is doing this and get hurt ? idk doesn't seem like it's necessary with so much film out there on all the incoming kids you can tell who can ball and what they can do this isn't 1970
