You and CopyTrans saved the day - many thanks. I had a large music collection in iTunes, and when I synced with my iPhone, somehow most of the music disappeared. I spent hours online and with Apple support. My collection was also on an old iPod Nano, and I was able to restore iTunes and my iPhone using your method.
thanks Mike you saved our 8000 songs from being deleted off our ipods. I couldn't figure out why i couldn't find the ipod control file until you said "hidden files". Even apple tech support couldn't help me the other day and told me to go to the apple store so you also saved me 2 hours there too.
i did try Copy Trans and bought thanks to your suggestion....it works so super easy simple that it is almost scary....could not believe it work this easy ..it is worth every cent ....THANKS for the suggestion
Over the years I was able to import my iPod music into each next PC computer but with my latest computer I see that everything that I did before no longer is possible. Going to give this a try and keep my fingers crossed. I just subscribe at least I've got something to give it a shot right now. Thanks for the video.
@@MikeTheTech no luck. Doesn't see my Ipod Nano at all. Used to be able to do this manually, but of course with all the "improvements" over the years..can't leave anything alone.
Have had iTunes since it began. Updated to new version and I'll iTunes is telling me I don't have permissions to see all the music that I've loaded into it over the years. Pretty much love apple as much as I love Microsoft now. Fortunately I was able to find seven layers deep where the actual MP4 music is so I think I can recover and move it on to an external hard drive but I sure wish I could find some software that did it for me.
There is another way to do it in Copytrans. 1) Start by clicking Classic mode in the lower left 2) highlight the first song 3) scroll down 200 to 1000 songs (how many you want), click on the last song while typing shift to highlight all 1000 (Make sure the left dot is checked on all songs highlighted )4) go to the top and click on the green folder button next to the green iTunes button at the top 5) choose your location to back-up songs 6) click Start backup. The songs should populate the way you want without any extra programs needed. I hope I didn't miss a step.
When you copy whole folder, where do you save it? What if you have some copies in your iTunes already? Also my old nano doesn't have all that info in the file. Really hard to find a single song that I want to transfer. If I do, how do I just copy one song not the whole folder?
I have disk mode files on my ipod classic that I was planning to remove and store elsewhere but the ipod began to fail or not be recognized by my iMac. Have any advice to retrieve files? I just want the disk mode files. No music is on it.
I'm fixing to buy 2 ipods off ebay they have music on both but one the screen is going bad will this let me get the music from both then add all to the good ipod ? I can't use iTunes cause that's someone else's stuff
JUst tried that copytrans (trial) but it seems its making individuel folders for each single song and sometime numerous folders. aint it possible to simply just copy your songs without these added folders directories., as I really dont need 100 folders with 1 song in each. and it does it even to Itunes and also the other folder option..dont need all that segmented directory.. just dump the songs with the filename incl. into 1 main folder.. is it something you need to adjust in adv zsettings?
If I am doing the copy of the music folder itself and have no other program other than iTunes, will iTunes be able to rename each song correctly or do I have to do something else? I have a really old iPod (1.3) with close to 30GB of music and lost all that music from iTunes somehow and am not wanting to lose what's still in the iTunes on my laptop but need to get the music from the iPod copied so I can add to iTunes again. Thanks.
I tunes will not rename the files, but it WILL detect the correct names and artists when imported into iTunes. It will allow you to organize them like any other song within iTunes.
Thanks man I found my old iPod nano 2nd gen in storage and I seen all my old music on it that I wanted to get off so I can go ahead and reformat everything so I can put new music on it
@thatonedude $20 might be a lot for you. That’s ok. That’s why I provided a free way to do it in the video. For the rest of us, $20 is well worth the convenience. It costs more to grab some fast food nowadays. This is potentially GBs of music. You don’t have to buy it.
I used the free method of transfering music from iPod Classic to PC. Yes, the names didn´t come out right AND all the songs were mixed in different folders. Just a mess! Isn´t there a free option of making this work?
Thank you, @@MikeTheTech ! What happenes to the content in iTunes when I change computer? Does it stay in my iTunes-account? I am not a apple-user, so I´m grateful for all advice. :)
@@MikeTheTech Didn't say you did. Just trying to spare people some time and disappointment thinking this is a fix for a problem instead of another money grab.
The software method is cleaner and provides better organization and use of meta data. So it was the preferred method in this case. The free alternative leaves you with somewhat messy folder structures, but working music and metadata. I appreciate the input though and will take it into consideration for future videos.

$20 well worth it. Thanks to you I was able to recover latin music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s
Nice! That’s great to hear! 🎶
When i hit show hidden items the only thing that shows up is DCIM. I dont understand. I just want my music back😩

missed the free version ???? never mind figured it out. this is great, THANKS so much. Wait it only will copy 100 songs ... I have about 800
I have the same problem. Did you figure it out? it won't let me copy all of them unless I buy it.😥
I've "unhidden" all files but still show the folder is empty when I know the ipod is full of music.
life saver , finally cracked my old ipod touch with a bunch of rare tunes , thank you for this video

can you tell me the name of the progam that fixes the name of the file with the metadata? because i cant find any
Does this work on other Ipod models as well?
This program was truly amazing. Thank you for uploading this video. It has definitely made my life that much better.
Glad you enjoyed it!
can i do this to transfer my audiobooks to my p/c as well?
Hey Mike, what cable are you using? I have the original IPod and it has the fat thingy on the bottom
So I can still keep the songs on my Ipod. It won't erase them from my Ipod?

You bet!
I have like 3000 songs to get I need a little help
What didn’t work?
DUDE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS
This software is not free. You get 100 file transfers, then you have to pay $19.99. just keep that in mind.
Never said it was. The free method is at the end. lol
@@MikeTheTech Didn't say you did. Just trying to spare people some time and disappointment thinking this is a fix for a problem instead of another money grab.

Hey man I need some help
Hell yeah man! Saved me and the lady hours of password recovery bull crap on her macbook!
Great to hear! Glad I could help. :)
Its Windows only software folks.
The program is good, but it is not all free. It was half way when it asked for buying
Well. I got some music transferred for this time 😁
As mentioned in the beginning of the video, the free method is shown after the paid method. The paid method is just easier so it’s shown first.
@@MikeTheTech
It ok. As I said the program is good and it works like charm
I tried it and I will save it for another time. Cheers
Wish video started with the free method. What are the odds watcher of this video will have this paid for software ? Just food for thought

awesome job!
Where's the free way????
Literally like half way through the video. Lol. It’s only like 5-6 mins total.
im not paying $20 for a one time use software! only someone who needs to do this many times would pay that kinda money for this software!
If only I showed you a free way to do it without the software in the same video. Oh wait. I did.
@@MikeTheTech LOL touche
@@MikeTheTech you did , but they limited the app to 100 items.. if you have a library with 500 songs .. ur screwed :(
