I’m from Cleveland, Tremont area off West 14 street , my son graduated from St.Edward in Lakewood 2011, my other son graduated from Lincoln West 2004, I graduated from Glenville 1985, I been in tremont area 45 years, Mccruel family

My adult daughter just came back from visiting her other relatives there in Cleveland. She enjoyed 😉 seeing the deers in the woods as well. But it was cold there 😕, & she is use to warm weather states. She had fun !!❤❤❤

I just finished watching this video. Loved it! You are such a great couple and I enjoyed watching you guys with your family. I was born and am from Ashtabula, Ohio. It’s about 1 1/2 hours north- east of Cleveland. All of my family, mother & father’s side are from Ohio. I have a lot of family still in Ohio and the get together your family had reminds me of the ones that we have when I go back home to visit.
My parents moved us to Louisiana when I was young, all of my dad’s siblings and parents moved here & so did my mom’s parents , and her older sister and alot of cousins also. My grandparents are all in heaven now and all of my mom’s side moved back to Ohio. My dad’s siblings and their families and the generations down are mostly in Louisiana.
I understand your husband and his feeling of pride when he is back in Ohio. I am the same way when I go back. Ohio forever~ it’s my old stomping grounds, it’s where my parents met and fell in love at the tender ages of 11 & 12 ~ got married 2 weeks after my mom graduated. They are still married and so in love( they are both in their 70’s now) they are like one person and their true love and devotion runs deeper than the roots of the oldest tree on earth. To give you a light 💡 to how long that union has lasted, they had 2 kids~ I am the oldest, my brother is 2 years younger than me. I am 50.
Out of 2 children, my parents had 9 grandchildren, and now have 12 great grandchildren . The generations grow, but we always keep Ohio in our blood, our lives, our children and grandchildren’s lives, and it will always be my roots.
Both of my grandfather’s built their family homes in Ohio. Both homes still stand proud today. My dream would be to buy my paternal grandfather’s home that he built, because it is still in excellent condition, at least from the outside. Also, I would love to purchase my maternal grandparents home that they built. The property has been purchased and the little house has been torn down. The little house was just an extra small home on the property that they built for family.
The big house, 2 story, still stands and is around the corner from where my maternal aunt lives.
I know these dreams are probably not going to come true now. I was, still am, a nurse and have had 28 surgeries on my ears and head. Sorry, 4 of those surgeries were not on my ears and head, but other issues, so 24 on ears and head and 28 in total. I found out I have a rare disease. I tried to keep working, but falling down and hearing loss and other horrible symptoms that accompany it made it impossible to work.
Disability money is not nursing money and it is hard to survive on it monthly, much less purchase the dreams to keep in the family for generations.
Well, it knocked me down in every way. I was a divorced, single mom for the past 23 years. I graduated nursing school with a 4.0 GPA while raising 5 small children and working 3-4 part time jobs with no child support. I wanted to teach my children that no matter what you go through in life ( I am a survivor of severe domestic abuse), that you can start again and always do your best and you can do anything that you set your mind to. I wanted them to feel a feeling of wow, things are getting a lot better, ever make excuses or use what happens to you that is bad as a life long excuse to stay down. Get up, pull your strength from all sources that you can and do it big.
I did it! My dream was to buy the houses to thank my parents one day for the amazing parents and grandparents that they have been. Now the dream is still a dream.
I can’t complain though. I am blessed with my beautiful family and God pulled us through some dark and hard times. He has us all in his hands and now mine are grown with families of their own and I am blessed again~ 6 beautiful, healthy grandchildren. Thank you Jesus.
This seems to be a ramble, but I listened to the story Destene spoke of about her former fiancé being killed in an accident. I was so proud of her for sharing, even though it is hard and deeply personal. You helped others through your testimony. I am super proud of you and admire the strength that you found and still have. ❤️
I shared a small portion of mine for the same reason.
