    BlackBerry is trying to cash in on paranoia of people hacking cars

    • @DanielRieger
      @DanielRieger 8 років тому

      ReabowRotors it is really possible. not so much a paranoia if it has been done with even "dumber" cars

      Daniel Rieger done with the first generations of smart cars....
      you ask the people that hacked them and they say "we need physical contact with the vehicle to do the first hack"
      which applies to any car even old cars , as long as it is electronic it can be hacked.
      it is paranoia.

      Physical contact, like a virus on a phone phsycally connected to the car

    • @JaredReabow
      @JaredReabow 8 років тому

      yes but then they have to infect the phone of a user who drives that specific car....

    A couple years ago BlackBerry made REM OS, with sandboxing and bezel swiping and privacy, that put Android to shame. The PlayBook had a 9V fast charger, dual speakers, and a small profile. All of this was before iOS and Android bought up a ton of patents and before they introduced notifications, control center, and more. Good luck with whatever you're trying to do Blackberry.

    "Two ECUs. Two electronic control units." This guy does realize he's speaking to a tech journalist right?

    I'd rather go straight into a car where you can't control it. That's when it's safe enough, and you don't have to worry about driving.

    As long as it is upgradeable, as I hold onto my cars for 10+ years and no tech from 2017 is going to be running well enough in 2027.

    In the current self driving car battle Tesla is the Apple, and everyone else is Android.
    Tesla was the firs one to do it right, and now everyone tries to outdo them

      Hey Morgan, 2018 update, makes me wonder what kind of person you are. Give Blackberry credit, they've done things many couldn't do. There's are more things than just Smartphones. Guess what, any car you buy now has Blackberry "QNX" in the infotainment. And your wondering what that is, well it your dashbaord in you cars. So when you board an airplane, guess who's behind working in backgound, Blackberry. Banking and Hospital software, again Blackberry. SO don't go around saying Blackberry is selling out. Did you know they own 40,000 plus patents? And who's trying to buy up them? Apple and Google. Look Morgan, things we do in life now, Blackberry is involved in one way or another. SO don't ever saying bad about a company who's 100000000x times ahead of anyone else just because they don't make phones. Phones is just one aspect of tech. So sit down and watch whats coming to you.

    Hate hate hate the lack of physical buttons in a car. Your eyes need to be on the road the whole time, and touch screens mean you can't do that.

    this is a smart idea, eventually most people will have a smart car and if BB holds that market then they can come back from the ashes

    Anyone notice how the rep was twitchy when he mentions the "SMARTPHONE" the cars connected to...? 😂🙈. Damn blackberry. Forbidding your reps from saying the words 'Samsung' or 'IPhone' huh. Smh.

    There is much hate on for Blackberry here and I think most of the haters have any clue about vehicular systems software. Blackberry copying Volvo? The interviewer has an agenda and no time. This is a pointless video as there is little opportunity to talk about what is needed and what Blackberry can offer. These guys invented smartphones and they sell security to military customers.

    This video could been from 2008 and it wouldn't of amazed me. They clearly don't have any business being in cars. Looks terrible
