    Hey everyone!
    Update on the Upgrey Watercolor Paper. I based my opinion based on the price of $17.99 for two packs of 30 sheets. It's now $26.99 for two packs!! I still enjoy the paper for practice work, but please make sure you are not paying more than other quality papers. ;)

    We used to use electric erasers all the time in drafting. I now have that little mini battery operated eraser which is perfect for getting into tight spots. I haven't been doing any watercoloring lately but I am busy making money cards for the kiddos while I watch you. Merry Christmas!

    2:36 I had tube paints dried out like that and since then I keep all my tube paints in an air tight food container. I pealed off the tube from around the dried out paint with a sharp knife and I cut it to pieces, the size of a half pan and pressed them in cutting of the edges. The paint works just as well as when it dries out in your palette.

      Ah, thanks so much!! I will keep an eye out for that with my Van Gogh paints. It's nice to know a solution in case there is a mishap, either way. I've been hanging my Schmincke and Sennelier for over two years and was about to share my storage. Maybe the binder affects how you should store them. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! ;)

      @@TheGypsyChic1 I don't think the brand matters. I simply did not put the cap back tightly so they dried out during more than a decade. It happens with every brand. It's always good to make sure you close the tube well and if you don't use them so often, then put them into an airtight bag or food container.

    That landscape is awesome! I have tundra pink and I mix it with everything, including cobalt teal to make super super granulating washes…I have schmincke’s Prussian green, which I initially disliked because it made weird bubbles on some of my good paper, but I mixed it with the tundra pink, which was amazing…I use it for abstract mountains right now, which I do as an easy daily piece to practice….

    You cannot be “a little OCD”. Liking things neat and tidy has nothing whatsoever to do with OCD. Please don’t diminish this *harrowing, crippling* condition by laughing that you’re “a little OCD”. 🥺
    If you’re uncertain, just try replacing OCD with another crippling health condition: _”I’m a little psychotic, I’m a little cancerous, I’m a little anorexic”._ Thank you for considering this adjustment.

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  2 роки тому +3

      I'm sorry you took offense. Actually, for me sometimes it's mild and other times it is more severe. It can be quite crippling for me, as well and affects most aspects of my life. I do my best to manage it the best I can. Personally, I do try to laugh at myself to make light of it, but everyone handles it differently. But, I will try to be more considerate of others in the future.

    Hey Stephanie, I also have the ceramic plate without the lid, but I checked on the internet and there are internetstores here in Europe who make any kind of thing you want from acrylic (I hope I say that right, it is the see trough plastic stuff that is hard, heavy and durable) and I am going to measure my ceramic plate and order a lid for it, it is not that crazy expensive. I also have a dog, a rescue dog, and she sheds like crazy so I have the same problem ;-) but I wouldn't want to miss her for anything! Would you consider doing a video on the colors you filled your ceramic plate with? I am having a hard time deciding what to put in it....of course we can take the colors suggested by the inventer of this palette but I don't see myself using all of those colors....

      Hello! Thank you! My Bella is a rescue dog, as well! We adopted he from the shelter almost 14 years ago...and she is my baby, so I feel the same way you do. I'm having good luck keeping this in a cabinet when I'm not using it to keep dust and dog hair away. Thank you for the tip about ordering a custom cover if I ever need one. I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Yes, I would be happy to share my favorite colors I'm still using from this palette but it will probably be after Christmas before I have time. I will give you a tip though, just use a dab of paint...so then you won't waste paint if you find you don't use it much and want to change it out. I also enjoy using full pans in the spots, and those are super easy to switch out. ;D

      @@TheGypsyChic1 Thank you so much Stephanie! I feel the same way, I don’t have any crafty friends! My friends and family always love the cards that I make them, but they’re not crafty, so they can’t help me critique my work. I’d have to say my favorite stamps are purple onion, I just think that Stacey Yacula is so talented! Maybe I should start playing around with my watercolors on small images like purple onion? Do you feel like that would be a hard thing to start with? I wish we could play around with each others paints! I’ve never tried Sennelier before. I really haven’t even tried using my Holbein!! Lol maybe we could each buy a pallet and pans, and fill them up about halfway with a bunch of different colors and send them to each other? You could always look up the Holbein colors and pick which ones you would want to try. I'm so sorry... I wish we could share watercolors...but even with my best intentions it would take me years to feel I had time for it. Honestly it's so fun to try all the new colors, but wanting to try all the new colors may get in the way of you using the gorgeous Holbein paints you already have. As your friend, I had to say it! Lol I just still feel I'm catching up, since I discovered art stuff later in my life. ( I was 37 when I tried real art supplies) I think if I had it to do over...wait, maybe I should make a video about that?!? HAHA. Holbein paints are lovely, just not very flowy paints from what I've found, anyway. "Maybe the white they used is too hard".... what? That's not a thing. No. What most likely happened is that the tube somehow developed an unnoticeable gap in the seal and it dried in the tube. This happens with metal tubes, which are just crimped at the end, not welded. I've had a Daniel Smith paint that developed a tiny hole where the metal was kinked from regular use and it dried hard as a rock. No worries, I just cut the tube open and took a chunk of paint and plopped it in my palette. It re-wet just fine.

    • @TheGypsyChic1
      @TheGypsyChic1  2 роки тому

      Yes, I just meant maybe the white pigment they used hardens easily. There was no gap anywhere and others mentioned they had problems with that tube, as well. I could cut it open to use it...but I will just stick to better brands Cerulean Blue.

    If you have so many watercolors why buy another basic set in a basic palette? This video is the reason so many people in the art community now feel the need to buy everything. You just showed like 4 sharpeners...pretty much all the same and you're saying you're buying another one. Consumerism at its finest. This is grotesque

      You must be new to my channel. I have a UA-cam channel where I share art supplies, make reviews and compare them. I'm sent a lot of products from the manufacturer, such as art supplies and the pencil sharpeners...I also buy products to test them and compare with the ones I'm sent for free. I don't feel I can give an honest review of products without comparing them to what is out there. But, I'm afraid you misunderstood me...I said I would not be purchasing anymore pencil sharpeners. I have three kids to share with...so none will be wasted. I'm sorry you feel it is grotesque, my only intention is to share the joy these products bring...while swatching and comparing products so people can make a more informed decision, and hopefully save people money as well. I sell or donate my extras to my children or special needs children...so nothing is going to waste. I've received many comments from people who understand why I'm sharing and keep asking me to do so. Obviously my videos are not for you, but I wish you all the best anyway. ;)
