    Impressive. An essentially brand new technology erected next to a historic building, that's pretty cool.

    Great video and nice set up , building a crank up tilt over mast at the moment .My wife would be lowering that down all the time to hang the washing on .

    a tip for future , put spacers under the rotor so its not sat on the cage, ice gathers there and can crack the bottom of the rotor.

      Great tip! not thought of, I will certainly adjust at the next maintenance. Fortunately no too harsh winters over here. 73

      @@on7fd yep seems to work . also in a real cold winter wrap a hessian sack round the motor , stop it from getting stuck.

    Game changer! I stumbled across the video totally by accident and it may very well be my tower solution for my current hardware setup. I am using an existing 20' long 3" diameter SCH10 pipe as my "tower"...the previous home owner had an outdoor light affixed to it when I moved in. I want the ability to tilt and lay my mast and antenna down during bad weather (hurricanes here in Florida). I would love to know more of how you designed and built the tilt-over structure and incorporated the manual winch! I just purchased a Hexbeam from NA4RR and it's still in the box waiting for DX Engineering to deliver my back-ordered Yaesu rotor. Many thanks for posting this video! K9MC located in Florida!

    Most enjoyable video. I'm toying with the idea of adding a Hexbeam from SP7IDX. Like yourself, I have a Fritzel FD-4 and the Davis Vantage Pro 2 hi hi. But maybe I should just stay with my Force 12 C-4S. Height limit here is 10 m. 73 de VK2FALF

      Hi, 10 m is ideal for a Hexbeam. To do! you certainly won't regret it. very good antenna with little wind load. 73.

    I have just purchased a HexBeam. I know that it is not resonant on 40 meters but have you tried to work on 40 meters with it using a tuner? Interested to know. I know that there is an add-on for it for 40 meters but i'm not interested in this as the antenna is already pretty big.

    • @on7fd
      @on7fd  2 роки тому +1

      I have indeed tried the Hexbeam at 40 m, provided tuning, and that works.
      However I wouldn't recommend it. Better is either to use the 40m add-on or as I do use a simple wire antenna like FRITSEL FD4 for 40m.

    • @tixilx
      @tixilx 2 роки тому

      Interesting question Paul …. Just wondering if you’ve tried to track down a “genuine” Fritzel fd-4 ?

    • @pmull252

      @@tixilx I haven't tracked one down. I'm finally getting around to installing the hex beam, but would love to be able to operate 40 meters and 80 meters properly also. By time I finish work, it's almost night time and 20 to 10 meters is closing down:)
