Genius comes in many forms… these fine gentlemen in my opinion were two of the greatest dancers in history… IMO greatest tap dancers of all time… genius!
I met Harold Nichols and Lionel Hampton at the same time! They were both in the hospital together (ironically) just a few years before they passed.. Seeing them together was a piece of Harlem history..
It's nice to see that these two got to live a long life 🙂 They're extremely talented!! Sun Valley Serenade is the first full movie I actually watched them dance in. But I think I may have seen colorized clips of Stormy Weather before that. They should have been in more movies like Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. I LOVE those old 1950s musicals btw!!!! They are so dreamy, colorful, hilarious, romantic, and fun!
Harold Nicholas making an excellent point about “training”. If you have the ability as he did, one doesn’t need to train. The rehearsal becomes the training ground, where ideas take form and become art. Two amazing artists!
