Easy Fix for Back Pain When Bending Down or Forward + Squatting
Wow I’m learning so much from these tutorials from you, I have grade 1 spondilolithesis, I have degenerative disk disease, I have spinal stenosis , I’ve done some of the things you have shown like the lie with pillow under hips to open spine, what a difference it’s made for me, I’ve recently had the bi lateral epidural injections to l5 and these exercises have helped me more, thanks you I’m now following and watching
Can you please also do one about how to get down on the floor and baxk up again for people with SIJ. i used to do the Z position. But not sure if thats good with the SIJ
August Hunicke sent me here. Thanks 'fir' all you do. 🌲
OMG I am so laughing because when my back is acting up those WRONG ways are the EXACT ways I have to do it. Although you missed the 5 minute PRE “How the heck am I gonna do it” talk! Love your training!
One of the best explained video I have seen for a while 🙂
Thank you very much for this work !
At 70, and still working as a nurse, I have found it very hard to bend over to pick up stuff. That is a recent development. Good movement with everything else. Thank you for your help.
Thank you for this! With SIJ issue i had been having an issue with the socks and shoes on my right side.
Omg this was meant for me! Im in so much pain
Very simple and nuanced ! Just what people need .
Thank you! I’ve been dealing with SI and sciatica for going on 6 months now. Been doing physical therapy and chiropractor for a couple months now. I’ll be doing better for a couple weeks then it comes back again. Trying to learn the do’s and don’ts and your videos are very helpful.
Hi Krystal,
Thank you so much for watching this video!
Something I teach my students is that it is not what you do in PT offices or chiropractic offices, but what matters is what you are doing the other 23 hours of the day that is going to make the difference. In this program, we teach you how to incorporate certain exercises to apply to your daily life, creating long term change in the body.

Thank you so much for being here!
Just a notch under comedy show at least at the beginning. I had a new onset back spasm sudden extreme pain develop yesterday, & today, upon awakening, I felt very hesitant to do anything despite major improvement. As I exited my bedroom I saw tiny things that had somehow fallen onto the floor, passing by one after another, that normally would be nothing to just pick up. Instead, I just passed them thinking, "I'm not quite sure how I'm going to get those things off the floor; but for now, they are just staying there." LOL. This video was awesome help!
Thank you for the video and am watching more of them (subscribed)! A question for you, assuming you are familiar with Dr. Stuart McGill's work and his book Back Mechanic. If you have any experience with his work, do you have any hesitations about his method? Thank you!! Hip hinge is very much encouraged in his work.
I've actually wondered the same!
Brillant i love the way you explained everything and the fact the you yourself do have back pain..love the cap on the skeleton.😂
Thank you, Rachael! Glad you liked the explanation. 😊
Thank u I hurt my back wood working not able too bend over or hardly move I've been doing these daily and helping get back too normal
Thank you for valuable tips
A big thank you Sir ❤️❤️👈😘
Oh gosh! I'm doing it all wrong!!! I'm 3 months out from Lumbar fusion -- I gotta get this right!
Great video. Thank you Doc.
You're welcome, thanks for the comment and support!
Vert helpful thank you!
Hands and arms on the inside of the knee when putting on socks use, etc., versus bending straight over the knee will also protect the SI joints.
Thank you for this amazing instructive video❤
Can you tell me what’s the brand of your shoes? I am currently doing your program and you mentioned there that there is studies of how unhelpful it is to wear shoes, and those ones look like barefoot shoes, thank you Doc 🙏🏼
I believe Dr. McGill, one of the most well-known experts in back health, in his book "The Back Mechanic" recommends that you lift heavy objects by the method you named "limb dominant movement," and he recommends you lift light objects by standing on one leg and leaning over to grab the object. These recommendations seem to be completely opposite to what you are recommending.
Hi doc I can’t sitting on the floor when you do meditate so painful….please advise. Thank you !
Whenever I do this my hips click. Should I be concerned about the clicking and popping? It even oracles to my knees at times.
Hello. Thanks for this video. My problem is that I have a herniated disc in the lumbar region as well as spondylithesis. So how do I pick up things from the floow waer socks and shoes? Thanks in advance for your kind reply. Greetings from Turkey.
Hi Nilufer, thanks for your question! Dr. Ryan provides detailed guidance on bending and picking up items with lower back pain in this video: ua-cam.com/video/g2r1436I2PQ/v-deo.html. I hope you find this helpful! 😊
high class!
One of my main problems is flexing or forward bending. What can I do? Thank you!
Hey! I've heard zero drop shoes might not be good for SI pain. Thinking to ditch the altras. What is your opinion? Thank you!
Hi Adi, thanks for your comment! You can check out Dr. Ryan's recommended shoes here: www.amazon.com/shop/corebalancetraining?tag=onamzryanpeeb-20. I hope this is helpful! 😊
Hey Ryan, great video. Is it possible to have a lot of muscle in your abs, low back but still mot have proper core balance?
This is a truly fantastic question! The answer is a big, resounding YES. The abdominal muscle group can be out of balance, where the "6-pack" muscle (rectus abdominis) often becomes over-developed/active and compensate for the deeper core muscles (obliques, transverus) which typically become under-develped/active. The 6-pack is designed for movement, while the deeper muscles are the ones that truly support the spine, so you might see how this could lead to back problems. Thanks for asking!
So im 47 and had my first ever severe low back spasm 4months ago after 2months of hard work I felt 95% for the next 2months. Am in excellent shape (gym 5times a wk tennis coach). Similar body shape to you. Tried pickle ball for first time 2 days in a row for 1.5hrs. And though no spasm occurred I feel just as bad as that day 4months ago. Should I just avoid pickle ball for life or are there specific strengthening excersises specific to playing pickle (low athletic stance lots of latteral movement & reaching our quickly) I can use to avoid this issue if & when I play? I do master walking & side shuffle with bands, glut bridges with bands
Thx!
Hi Deven, thank you for sharing this information with us, as it helps us understand your situation better. It's great to see your dedication to staying active and fit!
You certainly don't need to rule out pickle-ball for life. It's common, even for individuals as athletically inclined as you, to have an underused or under-engaged core. Our program can help you in building a stronger foundation by re-establishing a connection with your deep core muscles, which are essential for supporting your spine. This, in turn, can help you return to pickle-ball and your other activities in a way that's centered around a healthier core.
That back spasm you experienced was like a signal from your lower back muscles, indicating that something needed attention. Learning to move in a more healthy way is the key to addressing this issue and we'd love to help.
If you're interested, we offer a 7-day free trial of our program that you can check out to see if it might be a good fit for you. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need further information!
Уважаемый Доктор, посоветуйте как подняться с постели, с пола всем у кого проблема с Сакроилиико?. Спасибо вам огромное за помощь.
