Great observations about Richard Pryor. It’s easy to forget that Pryor’s comedic legacy included acting. He was also, at the time, one of the few black comedians that criss-crossed to white audiences and black audiences. Without Richard Pryor, we would have never had Eddie Murphy, without Eddie Murphy, we would have never had Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, etc. and without them, we would have never had Chapelle. What’s interesting about Katt is that his trajectory is so wild and unusual, he has managed to cross over to white audiences without the promotional push. His brand of honesty and comedic observation has meant he has blazed his own trail.
The same can be said about Redd Foxx, he was a trailblazer who set the standard back in the day and inspired guys like Pryor and Eddie Murphy. I can't believe neither vlad nor Tony yayo thought of him, truthfully I don't think either of them should be speaking on the subject based on the fact that they left Redd out of the convo at all.

Patrice was always a comics comic. You didnt really know about him if you didnt really clock NYC comics heavily back in the day. He was known for bombing so hard and not giving a fuck, audiences NEVER liked Patrice. He was so brutal with audiences, it really limited his ability to ever grow in terms of popularity. Paul Mooney fucked himself in a lot of similar ways too, they wouldn’t sell out. They wouldnt do the minstrel show bullshit.
