Luxembourg is only the richest country in the world, if you take all the salaries paid and divided by the resident workforce but ignore all the people crossing the border every day to work here
Another fun fact that my dad told me is that u get free wifi in the capital and if u are really close to it u get better wifi and I am going to luxembourgh too!
Alright, lets put some reality into this. Greetings from Dudelange (aka Diddeleng, aka Düdelingen), Luxemburg. 1) "Luxembourg has the highest GDP in the world". Yes, thats right, but thats only because the statistics are massively flawed. Lux is a banking-center, and if you take off those banksters, the "upper 1%" from the statistics, you come to the REAL average income of the other 99% : and thats 65K Euro gross anually, which is : for a single person, tax class 1, a net income of approx 3500 euro /month. From that money you need to pay rent, which is easily 2000 euro without charges (you end up with 2300 - 2500 with electricity, phone , heating, god forbid talking about a parking space outside under a tree for several hundred of Euros), and you need a car. Oh, running out of money already. Well, a car is a must in Luxemburg... because , 2) the "free public transport" is only useful for a handful of people in the city itself, and some particular main stops. Lux is a country with a lot of history, the city is basically a fortress with a lot of cow-towns around - and there the free bus comes maybe twice a day... The bus stop is mostly in the center of the cow town, and the town center is often so far away from where you live,.so that you need to walk forever to the bus stop; you can turn it as you wish, you NEED a car there if you live there, and dont want to spend 3h/4h per day in public transport with sh*tty timings. Now you know why the car density is so high. Now, why not taking Taxis? Welp, an 18 - 20 min ride by taxi is an easy 80 Euro. Thats a standard-ride between my home and the Airport, for example. I never took that private, only for business. Its ridiculously expensive. In summary : - public transport is free, but hardly of use for the people living there (Cool for tourists / visitors though) - "Real" average income is approx 65K gross /anno , which again is net 3500 / month, you live in a shoebox for 2500 euro, and from the last 1000 Euro you gotta pay a car and fuel and garage and maintenance, and maybe a parking space. The rest is yours for food and lifestyle. And, you dont buy your groceries in Luxemburg - you drive once a month to Germany, and do the groceries there. In Germany its a LOT cheaper. Its normal that the german supermarkets in germany at the borders are crowded every weekend , and its 90% Luxemburgish customers (and some French). If you are Luxemburgish, and you inherit a house or property : jackpot. Houses go mostly for a million Euro or more. So, on the paper, you are rich. If you didnt inherit anything, and you have an average income, forget your dream about ever buying property or a house there. You wont even be able to save up the obligatory 20% downpayment , because, how? You live paycheck to paycheck, how you wanna save 200k downpayment? Yes, impossible. For tourists Luxemburg is indeed a really nice place, and also for the Luxemburgish who were born into families with property and houses. But there are reasons why more than 100K people of workforce in Luxemburg live across the borders in France, Germany, and Belgium. Thats simply because Luxemburg itself has gotten too expensive for the average Joe. Dont get me wrong, i do love Luxemburg, but it has housing crisis and a cost-of-living crisis, especially for the young and middle aged working population.
No, the reason is that the free public transport doesnt help you when it only comes twice a day, and the bus stop is a few km away from where you live.

wtf i think you live in a different luxembourg then😅 Im talking about buying a house without beimg slave of the bank you loaned money from etc ..you dont know what youre writing both of you
So is it necessary to learn one of these language to work there, basically I am in UK & thinking about Luxembourg. I am food manufacturing company’s process designer & production planner. Not sure if I need to learn any of these language before moving in.
The official languages are French, German and luxembourgish. French is probably the easiest to learn but most luxembourgers also learn German as part of education. If you know German, it will be very easy to learn luxembourgish. It's mostly the same but with different pronunciations and minor changes. They also speak English pretty well for foreigners.
It's helpful talking to others and getting to know the language luxembourgish because it's very similar. If you have no interest in learning luxembourgish, don't worry most people learn German as part of their education in Luxembourg.

That’s the reason it’s the richest country. It’s also the reason most western countries are nowhere near this rich
Monaco and Liechtenstein are richer.

@@sumanasinhab.6695 you are welcome, thanks for reading.
In the meantime things got again more expensive ^^
Count your blessings it's vastly overpriced with no housing so you don't get overrun by people showing up looking for a handout.
So exactly the same thing what is happening in new york right now
Thanks man really appreciate you taking the time to point out the facts 💪🏼✌️
That's why she called Luxembourg Bcz this is Luxury city😂😂😂😂
All fun and games until you realize how expensive it is here
Highest car ownership even if the Country is offering free transport.
Hence proved they are millionaires!
No, the reason is that the free public transport doesnt help you when it only comes twice a day, and the bus stop is a few km away from where you live.
Free transport since2 years, car ownership since 120 years

For us (Indians), all the countries where salaries are high are very expensive for us. Our GDP per capita is $3500 where as Luxembourg's $125,000.
